X JAPAN Confirms Japan Tour, Acoustic Concerts to be Performed

During a press conference held in Tokyo on June 9th, X JAPAN members Toshl, PATA and HEATH, along with host Udo Artists, Inc., announced that the X JAPAN WORLD TOUR 2017 WE ARE X concerts in Japan at Osaka-jo Hall and Yokohama Arena will be performed as acoustic concerts. The title of the tour will be changed to ＜X JAPAN WORLD TOUR 2017 Acoustic Special Miracle　〜奇跡の夜〜 6DAYS＞.

X JAPAN members explained during the press conference that these performances will happen as acoustic concerts with YOSHIKI only playing the piano, a decision based on YOSHIKI’s rehabilitation schedule, projected recovery timeframe, advice from doctors, and his current state, after multiple discussions with promoters and WME, YOSHIKI’s US agency.

During the conference, there was also a phone call from YOSHIKI, who is currently going through recovery in Los Angeles. After conveying his message, saying “I want to move forward. I’d love to be given a chance to do the shows”, YOSHIKI also revealed, in response to the emcee’s question, that the EVENING WITH YOSHIKI 2017 IN NAGOYA & OSAKA & TOKYO JAPAN premium dinner shows scheduled for this summer will also happen.

Although YOSHIKI successfully underwent cervical artificial disk replacement surgery and has already started the rehabilitation process, doctors cannot say with certainty that he will be able to drum like he used to. Since doctors have instructed him to stay away from vigorous exercise for at least six months, he cannot play the drums for the time being.

Based on what YOSHIKI’s management knows about YOSHIKI’s current state after surgery, they cannot say that his rehabilitation, which is very painful, is going smoothly. Shortly after surgery, he was not able to walk on his own, and even breathing normally was difficult. This is why he became worried if his fingers would move normally and headed to his recording studio after getting out of the hospital. Currently, he is feeling numb from his mouth to neck, and a pain that feels like electricity is running through his left arm. Under doctor’s supervision, YOSHIKI has been advised to “move around as much as possible” and he is following his doctor’s instructions in order to get himself ready for the upcoming shows.

YOSHIKI said before the closing of the press conference, “I am very sorry to the fans who have worried for me. As long as I stand on stage, I want to inspire people.”

As this X JAPAN tour of Japan was flooded with demand, all performances were sold out immediately. We unfortunately caused concern for many fans and related companies due to the emergency surgery on YOSHIKI, the leader, drummer, and pianist, but we sincerely appreciate the countless words of encouragement and support from inside and outside Japan. Since the content of the performances will be changed from the original plans to an acoustic format, with the addition of strings and other aspects as announced today, we will be providing refunds to those who desire one. X Japan drummer Yoshiki says headbanging is dangerous after undergoing urgent surgery

The frenzied drummer behind rockers X Japan declared headbanging to be “no good” yesterday, while sporting a neck brace at his first press conference since emergency surgery.

Yoshiki, who is known for such intense drumming that he sometimes collapses on stage, shocked fans last month when he announced he would need an urgent operation to implant an artificial cervical disc.

X Japan were at their height of fame in the 1980s and 1990s.
On Tuesday, Yoshiki appeared at a Tokyo press conference in sunglasses, a black leather outfit and the neck brace. “I’ve thought about it and I have to say that headbanging is no good,” he says, drawing laughter from fans. “I may sound weird saying it at this point.”

I’m not well. It hurts a lot. I had an artificial cervical disc inserted but it isn’t used to my body yet.

But the career rocker immediately appeared to take back his no-banging pledge. “I may end up headbanging again, unless there is a law banning it.”

The frail 51-year-old, whose group was one of the biggest acts in Japanese music history with fanatical fan followings in the 1980s and 1990s, cancelled all engagements leading up to and following the operation at a hospital in Los Angeles, where he lives.

A neurosurgeon in Japan had told the rocker he had such severe neck damage that it would have forced a professional rugby player to retire, his management said in May.

The performer, whose full name is Yoshiki Hayashi, had previously suffered bone fractures, but that did not stop him from pursuing an aggressive brand of heavy metal drumming that often saw him writhing in pain by the end of shows.

In January, Yoshiki played the piano at New York’s Carnegie Hall with the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, but he had already lost feeling in his left hand.
“It feels as if tens of thousands of volts of electricity are running through my hand,” he said earlier in the year.

Still, he’s kept performing since that show, including at an X Japan concert in March at Wembley Arena in London.
“Many US artists have become legends after they died. But I want to be an artist who inspires people by keeping on going and staying alive,” he says.

I like the concept, but as always: way too much photoshop. He looks like 20 in this pics and we all know he isn't. I can't stand that much photoshop and how everyone is photoshoped until they don't even look like themselves anymore. I mean, when I saw the cover on facebook, at first I thought it was an old shot from the 80's. lol Honestly, he was beautiful then, he is beautiful now. Those overly photoshoped pics don't do anyone justice and I don't like to look at them.

I went to his Memorial Day. All those flowers in front of his guitars and outfits really made me teary-eyed.

First of all, I need to say how damn fucking pissed I still am that JR cancelled all trains on the 30th from 6 p.m. onwards and so the concert was cancelled too. Taifun "hit" Tokyo around 10 p.m. and wasn't too bad. Honestly, autumn storms in Hamburg are as bad as that taifun was and everyone still goes out. If there ever is a real bad taifun I'm the first one to get killed because here everyone freaks out as soon as there is just a little bit of wind and I'm not able to take any warning serious anymore. I'm pissed. lol

Also I just talked to a friend who is a X fan since hour one and she said she wouldn't expect any new songs for the new album besides maybe one or two. She said, when DAHLIA was released, everyone wated for ages and besides DRAIN (which is basically a Zilch song also, let's be honest) and White Poem every single song was either released as a single or performed live already.
I mean, she's right. lol Looking back, everything was either performed and released or "just" performed a few times already.
We already have BORN TO BE FREE, I.V., JADE, Scarlet Love Song, La Venus, Without You, Beneath the skin, Kiss the Sky and Hero. This makes 9 songs. All my hopes are crushed for a new release now. Don't expect too much. :laugh

We have nothing to expect xD If I remember right, Yoshiki said it will be album with 10 songs. Since 9 we already know, I will not be surprised if 10th is some kind of interlude, just instrumental track

Has anyone attended Yoshiki ‘s World Tour 2023 REQUIEM?
I saw him for the first time last Saturday at Carnegie Hall. It was so beautiful! Yoshiki looked amazing and he was so kind. It was so insane seeing him in real life. I had a pretty close up view of the stage. When he came walking out it felt like a dream. I never thought I would ever see Yoshiki. I still can’t believe it.:laugh:luv2
