ayuro74 25th March 2016 01:49 PM

WOW I love it

ayumint 25th March 2016 01:49 PM

Show was so GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

maxikot 25th March 2016 01:50 PM

That was a blast i must say. Pretty good for tv performance, overscreamed in parts but was good, especially beginning - BOOM.

Ryusei 25th March 2016 01:50 PM

Wow that was epic

Faiza 25th March 2016 01:50 PM

I didn't enjoy her performance

ayuro74 25th March 2016 01:50 PM

Great performance :)

rainbow_smile 25th March 2016 01:50 PM

She changed the arrangement a little bit. It was decent imo, though she was off-key sometimes lol

//ABEST 25th March 2016 01:50 PM

it was so good :love she looked amazing and her vocals :luv2 perfection

holy_arrow 25th March 2016 01:51 PM

Just for 2 minutes, OMG. I hope it can be longer. So disappointing for the length of her performance...
By the way, the great performance and she looked so good !

Uknow! 25th March 2016 01:51 PM

It was epic.

hayasaki 25th March 2016 01:51 PM

She slayed!!! OMG Specially on the part when falling cherry blossom becomes faster. I didn't think this song can fit cherry blossom background lol

AyuGAME 25th March 2016 01:51 PM

OMG the performance is so magical!!! I love that they use technology...the A BEST cover on the back is soo touching...I can see she almost crying in the beginning part of the performance (the verse part).

what a cool performance....I don't like her hair style..but I think that kind of hair style is IN right now...

I love her energy...her charisma is definitely on different level than anyone else...

Talking about off-key and scream, I need to watch it on HQ to decide about it..I hope YukiUsagi will upload the file very soon

Corvina 25th March 2016 01:52 PM

Wow, compared to the other performances this evening they totally went overboard with the stage and the effects. xD
But it was a good one.

@~angel*ayumi~ :
The ranking is about cherry and graduation songs.

Corki 25th March 2016 01:52 PM

Thanks for the streaming link! That was a great performance! :luv2

My exact thoughts. Real, not fake energy. You know it's pleasant to watch properly dancing perfume for instance but this was nuclear xD

because this performance was designed for big stage as it was re-created from CdM Tour.
That explains the screaming + off-key

The ranking is about graduation songs.

It says "Sakura and Graduation song ranking" So i guess random songs about spring and sakura are included too not only songs about graduation

Ayu and A Song for XX is trending on Japan Twitter!! lol

Ayumi Romania 25th March 2016 02:01 PM

Very nice performance!

LONJJONG 25th March 2016 02:04 PM

The caption says "performance in 15 years" but shouldn't it be 17 years? Did they confuse with the release of A BEST? :/

Ryusei 25th March 2016 02:04 PM

They mentioned in the side information thing that she covered sotsugyou shashin.

Maybe it means the TV performance of A Song for ×× after 15 years ?
Seems that she didn't sing it on TV after the promotion of A BEST until today

Somehow I think her voice is worse than last year's tour...
But the stage visual is awesome! :love

AyuGAME 25th March 2016 03:01 PM

Love it even more in HD...

the other performance is so boring...KAT-TUN performance is so hard to watch...they go off-key big times...like throughout the ending song they off-key.

her dress seems to malfunction a lot this time...

Irish_Ayu_Fan 25th March 2016 03:26 PM

Ok so that was AMAZING.

spanishfan 25th March 2016 03:46 PM

Oh I loved it! a bit off-key, but don't mind about that.

280301 25th March 2016 03:50 PM

I loved it! Yeah there were vocal issues, but that is a given at this stage of Ayu's career. I loved the set, it was gorgeous. I wish she had done more promo for A BEST, it would have been lovely to have seen more of these stand alone performances.

Speaking of standing alone, gosh! No dancers! And it was fantastic! Ayu has immense stage presence, it was great seeing simply her and the band.

Chris85 25th March 2016 04:00 PM

It was funny how she switched on cute mode for interview:-) Very pitchy vocals with lots of screaming as expected. Enjoyed the performance itself, survived through her vocals.

Larisa-chan 25th March 2016 04:13 PM

;-; she looked so pretty but the vocals were so bad

JackieRos 25th March 2016 04:17 PM

She sounded so nasal but her voice was amazing. I loved this performance.

tenshi no hane 25th March 2016 04:22 PM

Oh, Ayu, I love you, but I agree with Tamori's "I don't understand what you're trying to say". The interview was a mess :laugh

Unfortunately I didn't like the performance, but I expected that already. Way too much dramatics and flailing for my tastes. I was hoping she would tone it down a bit because it's a music show (versus a concert), but alas. She did look great, though.

aliceshields 25th March 2016 05:34 PM

I like the rock version, but not keen on the dramatic flailing....... I'm sorry 😔

Yoake 25th March 2016 06:14 PM

Ayu was amazing. ♥

tokyoxjapanxfan 25th March 2016 06:25 PM

The stage was really cool.

I loved seeing her on Music Station after so long

truehappiness 25th March 2016 09:20 PM

Oo, the vocals are pretty much standard Ayu for now, as in it could have been MUCH worse. Also it's a TV live, a medium that she's never really excelled at other than a small point in her career when she also had a talk show.

The issue I think is that some of the parts of the song used to require her to go into that nasal SQUEAKY register but now she goes in the opposite direction of them since her vocals are completely different from how the original was sung, and also she used to cut things off quite a bit more in performances of this song while this one felt a lot more whole. IMO, a good effort but nothing spectacular.

As far as this performance goes, was she just replicating the CdM ASFXX?

taskinillusion 25th March 2016 09:44 PM

I don't know, I mean, I thought her vocals were good compared to some of the stuff we've gotten in the past! I realized I was getting ready to cringe when certain notes came up, but she hit them! :yes Pretty performance, but it did go a little overboard with the flailing. :laugh It's fine in her concerts, but yeah, TV performances are usually a bit more reserved. Overall, I thought it was nice! Better than what I was expecting...

truehappiness 25th March 2016 10:06 PM

I think there's just a hugely varied expectation for Ayu lives and most fans don't have that bar set very high.

For me, I am just fine as long as it's not that 2009 era of disaster and vocal goofs. She is usually not very good on TV but at that time she was ESPECIALLY not good. I wonder if some stuff was going on at the time because that was also the time she stopped talking about drinking beer all the time and instead started becoming health guru goddess.

relmy 25th March 2016 10:17 PM

Compared to the CdM performance it really wasn't good, but it could have been so much worse, so I'm okay with it. The CdM performance with Out of control too was STUNNING though, so it won't compare to that. It's a shame that they cut the song, ASFXX works because of that build up towards the end and it's kind of over before it's started at this length.

I personally love that she was treating a TV live the same way as an arena live with all the dramatics! hahaha

xLuna&1LOVE 25th March 2016 10:19 PM

This performance was bad. Stage is cool, but come on... she does not have to be the best singer in order to be a great entertainer, but she should really focus on her vocals.

truehappiness 25th March 2016 10:22 PM

The funny thing is that often she sounds better than most acts that appear on M-Ste.

Her vocals are almost never on point anymore for TV lives, but they're good enough.

Pieces_of_SEVEN 25th March 2016 10:34 PM

performance was on point! and of course, as always, ask proved to be worthless ;)

kaled kalil 25th March 2016 10:54 PM

The performance was okay, I think. The vocals were the standard Ayu for now, and the style was a little too overdramatic.

I'm just glad that there wasn't any dancer this time around. I know that ASFXX isn't a song for a dancing moment, but since she does so quite often, I was worried that it was going to happen anyway.

ava_dreams 25th March 2016 11:00 PM

The vocal's weren't that bad at all. The performance was good, more of that stage thrashing she seems to like.

ExodusUK 25th March 2016 11:14 PM

This was perfect, don't know why people are downplaying Ayu's greatness.

KillTime111 25th March 2016 11:28 PM

I got chills watching this, so reminiscent yet new. The rock version was a good choice, and the continuous falling of cherry blossoms was very nice. The opening acapella part wasn`t really needed I think. Over all, I`d say an impressive performance.

truehappiness 25th March 2016 11:38 PM

That performance is also when she used to sing through her eyelids, which she doesn't do now.

kotora 26th March 2016 12:31 AM

This performance is what I love.

No extra rubbish dancers. Powerful. And she doesn't wear shoes in this performance! Whoa.

Edit: Oh dear.. she shakes like a rockstar at the beginning but she needs to remember her dress is quite loose (look at 3:30, she needs to pull her dress back.)

This is the Ayu that will forever be in my heart. Noone can say she slayed today or in the last few years compared to gold like this, it's a shame but it's the truth. I'd rather Ayu not perform and let the public remember her as this rather than the screechy, flailing performances we get nowadays

Chibi-Chan 26th March 2016 12:53 AM

Vocals aside, I love love love this performance! For me it was everything I missed so much lately and how I would like to see her more often.

owlflight 26th March 2016 12:58 AM

Not a huge fan of the vocal but everything else is great. I like it when it's more about Ayu on the stage than a ton of dancers.

I dunno, she slayed during AT10 IMO. But that was probably the last time she really REALLY did gud.

Raiu-Ayu 26th March 2016 02:01 AM

I think she did fine during the show. Compared to some of the other acts she sounded far superior lol I kind of feel like singers used to be able to perform well live in Japan on TV but the massive rise now in idol groups with a gazillon members, singing well doesn't matter as all their voices just blend into one horrible mess :/

This is probably one of the most unusual MSte episodes I've ever heard of in the past year or so. Graduated AKB members joining in today's favorites, and Ayu...?

I mean, we don't really see that every day, right?

As for the performance...man, pretty surreal. Can't think of it very much...

truehappiness 26th March 2016 03:49 AM

Her voice has changed quite a bit since she lost her hearing and the technique she uses nowadays is VASTLY different from what she used in 2000-2003. She's gotten way more husky and less nosepinchy screechy.

She can hit those notes in that old technique as proven by some acapella stuff, but I think she is advised to NOT sing like that for the 'actual show'.

I don't get why people think celebrities shouldn't repeat their clothes... If it works, go on with it

Next_Level29 26th March 2016 04:07 PM

i think the only thing is that she is in controll of her voice. in the a nation version where its raining she can hold a vocal very long and out of nowhere she pushes out a very deep sound . its just controlling of her voice and knowing what shes capable of

Surreal17 26th March 2016 05:09 PM

Wow, the cherry blossom scenery is superb!

Minttulatte 26th March 2016 10:03 PM

Her vocals may not be perfect here (but I still liked these more than her 2008-2009 voice) in my opinion, but I still liked this performance because her 20 dancers weren't there taking my attention away from her. :p

love in music 27th March 2016 12:48 PM

Visually stunning performance, not so great vocals. She usually rocks ASFXX vocals live so was expecting better.

JackieRos 28th March 2016 03:17 AM

She's been singing since 1995 basically, people can't honestly expect her voice to be the
same right?

Ayusan 29th March 2016 11:05 PM

Really embarassing to watch! Why is she throwing herself like this? Seriously it is rather ridiculous than something else.
Vocally? It is time to call back her US coach! I feel shame that after all of this time she is not able to sing anymore. I know many singers who sing since... well longer than her (do more concerts than her per year, world tour and sing only live and they're not pop singers) and they're better in 2016 than when they began (if that was even possible for some).

No offense, I don't think you meant to be mean. But calling a woman "bitch" and saying you want others to respect her doesn't quite fit for me. Calling women names never led to more respect towards them, even though it was just said in a "joking" manner.

I don't get all this bitch stuff either. It's so annoying.

The performance was really nice. I'm not fond of her being this overly dramatic but well, that's her. The blooming cherry trees on the other side were gorgeous, I hope she will have those at her upcoming tour. I also don't mind her re-using this dress, it was my favorite from Cirque de Minuit. Her vocals were ok, she could have sung it a lot more worse. I'm quite happy with the performance and certainly not embarrassed of it.

I was wondering if her vocals would have sounded better if she sang ASFxx in a lower key exactly like her concert performances, since she hardly sings her older songs in its original key anymore (ex. appears, immature, TO BE, WHATEVER have all been sung in a lower key)

truehappiness 2nd April 2016 02:17 AM

Only for certain songs. Basically anything like ASFXX. I think Last minute and Memorial address also tend to involve the flails.

visionfactory 3rd April 2016 06:19 PM

Vocals pretty bad? Have you ever listened to A Song for XX during concert tour 2000?

To be fair, something can be bad without being the worst. For me, there was no part of her vocal performance that went past "just OK".

For me, I think the thing that killed this performance the most for me was the fact that she was dramatically flailing and trying to be all epic, but not because she was really into the performance. I think she knows that one of the reasons fans love her live is her ability to connect emotionally to the song. But, here it seems totally put on. To the point of being almost laughable. And then with the "epic" stance while looking off into the distance. Ayu has always been my favorite performers, even on TV. But, I wasn't feeling this.

~*Mabushii*~ 3rd April 2016 10:25 PM

I think this style of dancing would have been better for a different song. But overall I enjoyed the performance. I love that she's just her, no matter how weird/bad others may see it. :3

chocopockymaster 3rd April 2016 11:13 PM

Sometimes I call my male friend, "bitch". But I feel ya. This word is not appropriate for ayu.

truehappiness 4th April 2016 01:58 AM

She could definitely do better, but her vocals are usually never stellar on M-Ste for some odd reason.

Her better shows are usually the more focused ones like say, Music Fair 21, SONGS, or IF SHE WAS EVER TO GO ON IT, Bokura no Ongaku.

It's not fair to mention SONGS because this show was pitch-corrected.
Fortunately there used to be some very decent lives even on Music Station. Like Memorial Address in 2007, Love song + M, M + Last minute for example.

"Interpretive dance"?? Maybe? XD Who am I kidding, the random flailing doesn't fit this song to me. But hey, Ayu has never really been a super amazing dancer. That's okay though. She's quirky, she's not perfect, I like that about her. :P

Equipment setting really affects people. Music station might have strong settings and affect her. I have seen lots of bad music stations performance from different people.
