Interesting, when I was at the Nagoya concert it was completely full!!!!

truehappiness 21st July 2016 05:46 AM

IIRC that was the first show. Those tend to be PACKED.

No wonder..when I watched her show at Nagoya (back in 2012) she said that she really love Nagoya peoples. I find that they are very energetic as well. When I watched this year live recording that posted on Instagram...from Tokyo show or Osaka show, I feel that the audience is really calm. But from what I remember Nagoya audience is energetic and not calm at all.

attractive nausea 21st July 2016 05:55 PM

Sometimes even fans seem bored during the concert lol, i don't know if it's because japanese fans are so used to see her every year that they don't really care anymore or because they don't fancy showing their emotions much, maybe a combination of both.

Summer Love dance was so simple and funny, i never got to learn the MY ALL dance beforehand so i was so confused and i gave up quickly lol

~angel*ayumi~ 21st July 2016 06:14 PM

Or maybe some are bored during songs they don´t like.

attractive nausea 21st July 2016 06:29 PM

^ The few people i have in mind did look bored during the whole concert though.

rainbow_smile 21st July 2016 06:39 PM

I was sitting next to a girl who literally spent 80% of the concert browsing her phone

njanjayrp 21st July 2016 08:20 PM

I think that sometimes when there is a performance involved for a slower song they don't really show they care much, but in the end do applaud in a way that tells you they liked it.

The Osaka crowd was really energetic on the 18th though.

ExodusUK 21st July 2016 08:46 PM

Maybe Ayu should perform some different songs instead of the same songs..I guess after 15 years there's only so many times you can get hyped about another performance of Evolution.

truehappiness 21st July 2016 08:54 PM

The thing is... the different songs are the ones that the crowd gets super bored during.

Yet everyone including myself gets hyped when evolution starts. It's the same with Boys&Girls and other staple songs even I rarely listen to these days. It's the atmosphere these songs create that people like. I skip them nearly all the time on DVDs though.

I think that the last few years ayu has been doing more songs from after the (m)u era so it's not like she is performing the same things over and over. She used to perform Trauma and Independent so often before 2005, Unite and Audience too, she seems to have stopped so we are getting STEP you, Until that Day... and perhaps WARNING more often...

Except people were way more bored during, for example, BRILLANTE, than stuff like evolution.

But I'm guessing that's just the way people watch ballad performances. I mean, how are you supposed to look during these? It's not the type of songs where you jump and scream out of excitement. And not everyone cries so easily during all the sad songs. Having a straight face doesn't necessarily mean that you're bored.

Ryusei 21st July 2016 10:27 PM

In switzerland it's kinda frustrating at concerts sometimes cause it's just like the first 2 standing rows that are super hyped and the rest are just standing there doing nothing... I was once a bit further back and me and my friend were the only 2 people back there that weren't recording with their phone or just standing there, it felt a bit awkward lol. I'd be freaking pumped to see BRILLANTE

tokyoxjapanxfan 21st July 2016 11:56 PM

Her newer songs just aren't well known. But she can't only sing well known songs.

XOXO and Lelio were also pretty dead, compared to other (classic) songs. And for uptempo songs it's more awkward imo lol.

You & Me was quite popular at the time, so that gets a good reaction.

Personally, unless Brilliante is performed as a huge luxe showstopper, it's quite boring live. I'm glad she's stopped "singing" Last angel for the same reason. It's an awkward song for a concert. Slow fast slow fast talking singing talking... Hard for me to get into.

Yeah...You & Me and glitter seemed to be a lot more popular. The younger audience does seem to like Lelio.

That cake is so cool <3

pedronekoi 22nd July 2016 08:30 PM

I love those cake designs hahah

I'm from Brazil, so the crowd here is just so energetic and crazy that sometimes it's annoying. When I went to Ayu's concert last year I was really surprised with the crowd because everyone was soooo calm. But I was so crazy jumping and singing together that somehow people next to me get crazy too hahah I remember when "The Show Must Go On" started and everyone was just waving their lights and I was screaming soooo much when I first heard the first music notes haha But overall people were excited but really polite.

I don't know if someone already posted this but they broadcasted the Osaka final tour at the shelter that Ayu went the other day. :) It's such a cute way of giving joy to everyone who suffered because of the earthquake.

im sorry ayu, but i have to agree on this ...

dreamalley 23rd July 2016 06:50 PM

I'm dying to see/hear "Brillante" on this tour.

It seems to be everyone's least favorite in the setlist but it's my favorite.

pommy48 23rd July 2016 06:52 PM

I love it when evolution is slowed down, but that sounded so bad.

so bad, i feel bad for people who went to see her live and heard THAT :no

maxikot 23rd July 2016 07:52 PM

Well, after the slow moment she was normal so I can accept that. She should be more conscious about those parts though.

I think it is hard for her to stay on key because she only has one ear that works? But she had training in L.A before CDL 14-15 with the coach who helped britney, rihanna and linkin park and she sounded okay

xLuna&1LOVE 23rd July 2016 08:36 PM

Well, it is not the worst she has ever sounded. Pfff. It is such a shame still. At least the instrumentals are really nice in de slower part.

It gets 'better' when you listen to the part a couple of times.

truehappiness 23rd July 2016 09:57 PM

Yeah, she's sounded worse. But it's not really that big of a deal, I think.

She sounded much better in Fukui for evolution, but I knew she wouldn't always get it right at every tour stop, not when it's slowed down like that!

So true. Some people should try to see her live before judging from a bad quality recording like this one is.

She sounded perfect in Osaka, the slow beginning of evolution made me shiver.

And I love BRILLANTE so much. It's one of my favorite songs, so it was definitely one of my favorite parts during the Show. I loved her dress and she was moving so graceful in this cube thing. I don't know if she was lipsynching though. It didn't sound like it on the 16th and 17th because she had to adjust her microphone sometimes. Not so sure about the 18th though... But it sounded great on all three dates nevertheless.

rainbow_smile 24th July 2016 03:12 PM

Yeah she sounded perfect 90% of the time on July 8th (except for Days with those overly cute vocals) and 16th. A bit worse on the 18th, but still good.

Don't know about the final Yoyogi show though. But she definitely can sing. And I have to say that fancams tend to amplify her voice and all the flaws sound way more exaggerated than in real life.

evolution did the same to me. It was among my fave performances this year!

With BRILLANTE I have an issue that she simply doesn't sing it the way I would like her to (it's the same with Endless sorrow). I do appreciate that it's not easy to sing it while in mid air~ I do not think she lip-synced any of the songs on MIJ and CDM.

How would you like to hear her sing BRILLANTE?

I thought her BRILLANTE performance in PoM 2011 was amazing. Truly breathtaking. She should really repeat it in the 20th anniversary tour.

attractive nausea 25th July 2016 01:44 PM

^ She could start with not screaming through the entire song.
I love BRILLANTE but hearing it live wasn't really pleasing to hear, that's the only song i thought she "ruined" with her singing.

Did she scream so much during MIJ BRILLANTE? Maybe my hearing is bad but I think it was okay. She screamed more during PoM, at least it sounds like it on the DVD :P

I second this! The Power Of Music performance was just incredible. The first time I saw it, it really reminded me why I am such a fan of Ayu. For me it is one of her best performances of her career as far as vocals.
I don't think she needs to sing it any different. She sings it pretty faithfully to the album version.:yes

I haven't even really watched POM yet, but yeah all her a-nation performances of that song were... :tired

I attended the 8th and 9th July concerts and during both nights i thought she screamed during BRILLANTE, it was a little better on the 9th but still. The verses are fine but when the chorus kicks off and she starts screaming she ruins it lol

Pretty much. She shouts thru the entire song...Endless sorrow isn't as bad, but still~

She doesn't have to do it that way though...

It's the way she always does these songs so I wasn't expecting it to be any different. She probbaly does the same with Marionette, but I haven't seen it live.

You mean what's the meaning of the message itself or the meaning of the whole thing?

It's a keyword quiz for TA: Ayu posted a letter on each tour date and we're supposed to combine those letters to form a message and then submit it through a form (which will be posted later), and apparently we get a chance to win something through a lottery.

The meaning of the message: Lots of love and thanks to everyone in TA

I don't think it's an good idea to judge her voice based on mobile phone recording, its just bad, when i heard her sing live that day, goosebumps! Heavenly 22nd August 2016 10:52 AM

Currently watching the tour on Youtube.

The first thing is, I'm quite disappointed by the intro.
Tasky is such a good tasuku intro, that would deserve a better intro video : this one isn't japanese at all, and not rhythmic enough (related to the music...). It's a bad 3D intro, even Amuro's intros are better !

Then, the FLOWER performance is a big no for me, unfortunately..... The song is so dynamic, progressive and rockish, and Ayu is just there "Hey look at me, i'm in a flower basket, being angry ! :D"
That performance would deserve a better mise en scène. I'm not complaining about Ayu doing nothing in a scenery, but I'm into it only when it's well-made. Mirrorcle World @ AT08 is a perfect exemple : Ayu is literaly doing nothing during the first part of the song, yet the performance is enjoyable because the props and scenery is well-made, and well-introduced (with the video and the big white drape).

Next_Level29 22nd August 2016 11:53 AM

Uknow! 22nd August 2016 12:06 PM

I loved the concert! Her vocals were good and Chapter of nothing was stunning.
Her screams at the end of Survivor ♥

This show was in yoyogi but the DVD one will be in Osaka?

attractive nausea 22nd August 2016 12:13 PM

^ Yeah her "wooooo yeah yeah" at the end of Survivor makes it better than the studio version haha

Someone said here that recording material wasn't seen during Osaka dates so it's likely that the DVD will be the Yoyogi one.

Heavenly 22nd August 2016 12:28 PM

I have to admit that the secnd part of the show (from BRILLANTE to the end), is almost flawless. I particularly appreciated evolution's performance, it reminds me AT07, even in better.

They just edited her vocals the way they used to do it for years before A Best Live, not using auto-tune, but using different software.

Apparently I'm watching different show, because she's screaming a lot. Can you really state that she's not screaming in, let's say, BRILLANTE? The parts when she's singing calmly are beautiful though.

Still, there can't be much editing since it sounds almost like she sounded live. Her vocals were in reality a little bit better, at least in Osaka.

I dislike how she sings WARNING somehow. It sounds so off-key. Either she sang it better in Osaka or I was deaf during this part :shakehead

I can understand if you dislike the way she sings it, but how come it sounds off-key? It's completely processed and pitch-corrected.

Iirc the first TV broadcast of her concerts is usually without editing?

No. Only live broadcasts are not edited, because it's impossible, right? All other broadcasts - first, second, ect are always edited.

Apparently I'm watching different show, because she's screaming a lot. Can you really state that she's not screaming in, let's say, BRILLANTE? The parts when she's singing calmly are beautiful though.

BRILLIANTE was a lot worse in Osaka ^^ She was in control here xD

Endless sorrow is still pretty much all yelling during the chorus. She still sounded very good over-all.

Lol. Maybe that's why I don't like it.

I know that, but it's Ayu shows we're talking about, she doesn't use live auto-tune...
Live auto-tuning has side effects and is very obvious.

I love the way she sings in Survivor

BTW I was shocked when I bought Aikawa Nanase's concert DVDs and the vocals were completely untouched. I wonder what other artists don't use pitch-correction for their releases. I got so used to fixed vocals because of Ayu :-)

Oh man! It was amazing

To be honest I prefer it when the vocals are completely untouched. I'd rather listen to someone singing with their real voice and not hitting a few notes correctly than having to listen to a voice that sounds robotic.

I think there are times that they touch the vocals even when it's not necessary. I'm used to, so it doesn't bother me. The only one I couldn't stand was Premium Showcase. I thought my blu-ray was damaged cause it sounded horrible and robotic.

I have to say she actually sounds pretty good in this tour if she's actually singing live!

My favourite performance was probably Mad world - the choreography was actually pretty interesting and fit the song.

FLOWER was such a wasted opportunity. Her sitting there not moving with that gigantic space really sucked all the energy out of the song even though she was vocally on point.

Aderianu 22nd August 2016 06:18 PM

Maybe FLOWER performance symbolizes that she's stuck and can't move forward only on her own, need someone behind

Evan Odinson 22nd August 2016 06:42 PM

I LOVED it, it was amazing for me, her vocals were on point, her high notes were really well controled, and she looked more confortable than in other shows, it was pretty cool, I really liked it.
