I like the new single. Girls is a typical Giorgio Cancemi song and it has been a while since we can listen to something like this in her discography. Go Fight Win! is catchy and fun. YOKUBARI is the clone of UNZARI so it's my least favorite.

This single is like going back to 2011 or something...after Kana not working with Giorgio Cancemi for years, it is SO refreshing to have something like "Girls" to listen to - I'm in absolute love! :inlove "YOKUBARI", I feel, is WAY better than "UNZARI" - so that's my second fave on this single. "Go Fight Win!" is adorable, as well. :heart Best single by Kana in what seems like ages! Although I have enjoyed her past releases, it's releases like "Girls" are what truly captivates me the most and brings back those 2010/2011 feels.

iTunes already has a preview of the song. Sounded boring; with those snow flakes and winter-esque atmosphere on the cover I expected a winter-esque atmosphere in the track. Without seeing the cover I would never guess it's a winter release. It feel bare naked.

The covers and promo pics are surely ones of her worst. I guess that they didn't want to spend too much time and money on that single's visual as there is the album.

Drive Away sounds like it could be another of the crazy b-sides she seems to be doing again which I really love. Honestly the b-sides are the only songs I'm looking forward to when it comes to Kana nowadays.

I preferred her b-sides during a certain period too. Especially during all the Love Place era until the with LOVE era which was disastrous. Since the Girls single her a-sides are great once again. I didn't believe that it would happen again at all.

I'm beyond excited for this new single & album! "LOVE it" is definitely continuing Kana's 'LOVE' pattern. :P "Te wo Tsunagu Riyuu" is also a really beautiful ballad, as well, but I'm in the mood for something more upbeat - so here's to hoping "One More Time" & "Drive Away" can deliver the goods! :D

Te wo tsunagu riyu is really beautiful. The arrangement is simple, refine and beautiful. It has been a while I feel so touched by a Kana's song. One More Time sounds as they didn't know if they wanted to create a ballad or an upbeat song. The first time I listened to it, it sounds odd. Even if I like the chorus and the verse, I felt they didn't sound good together. But after several listening I start to like it more. Some parts of Drive away reminds me Thank you so much. I really like the introduction which sounds a bit retro. The rest of the song is just ok. Pleasant without being outstanding. Overall the single is very solid and I'll surely like it more with time. I don't know if I should keep high hopes for the new album after the two last singles. Gives me a similar fresh feeling as when I first heard 'if'.
First off, I'm glad Kana has nearly officially stopped that 'depressed' face she gave on almost every cover. Since 'Believe', she actually looks like she doesn't have a lingering mental health problem on her release covers. I just think the font is a bad choice on this cover. But also, why can't they just leave the text off the covers sometimes? These would have been amazing covers as just the photo. Te wo Tsunagu Riyuu is an awesome ballad. Very fresh. I love that she isn't singing at the top of her lungs the entire track. It's nice to hear Kana not pushing every note. One More Time is 'Distance'. And I LOVED Distance. So, I'm glad she brought back the upbeat ballad style. I just wish this track had a PV. Drive Away is also extremely fresh. It's such a good filler track, like Abracadabra was. Overall, this is extremely fresh for Kana. I love the direction she's chosen for these last two singles. Girls was really good. This is even better. A nearly flawless single release. I think we're all really glad to hear a natural evolution in Kana's sound right now. |
Whoever mentioned how "One More Time" is like another "Distance" was totally spot on! :heart although I might love "Distance" a whole lot more... :laugh but these kind of songs are what I love from Kana! "Drive Away" is also such a mellow, laid-back & refreshing song to listen to.
While "Te wo Tsunagu Riyuu" is probably not my most favorite ballad of Kana's - it's still beautiful & I appreciate it's diversity compared to some of her other ballads. Kana's sound this year has just been a pleasure to my ears - I can't wait to listen to "LOVE it". :heart |
I don't know, all of the songs are kind of boring to me. One More Time actually doesn't sound like Distance to me, and it's not nearly as catchy. Drive Away sounds nice because of the retro sound but nothing really interesting happens in the song, and the chorus is kind of boring and unfitting. It just feels like they could have made something more interesting. The A-side is okay, but again it isn't really that emotionally involving or interesting.
Also, I really find her lyrics to be even blander and more repetitive lately. Like she doesn't even know what to write about so she goes for the most standard phrases just to fill in the blanks. But anyway I hope that the album tracks are better, I didn't really like any of the A-sides this time around. |

I have a mixed view about the album (or mainly the album tracks). We got singles with an excellent worked sound. When I reached the end of the first part of LOVE it, I was perplexed because all the new tracks were b-side sounds without a polished sound. I don't dislike them but I was expected at least one quality new songs among them. We're the miracles is the one I like the most but her voice is lacking conviction, power and energy especially when you think about the message behind the lyrics. It's like saying "We're the miracle but it's not important at all".
After the first part, I started to think that they had added the new version of kimi ga suki to raise the level of the album. Then Liar appeared and my hope increased. Liar is the same type that FANTASY, Abracadabra or Lights, Camera, Action. The kind of song that is apart in her discography. I really like how the intro is very different from the jazzy sounds of the rest of song. MEOW isn't amazing but it won my heart because of its cuteness. As a cat lover I can just love the song. Smartphone seems to be the little sister of YOKUBARI in a boring way. Especially because of the chorus' lyrics. Kana you should drop the clap word. You have already plenty of songs with it. LOVE is just a cute entertaining song that is made to end an album. Nothing outstanding but good. Overall LOVE it isn't bad. It's just less good than her previous album. Let's see if my view about the new tracks can change with time. |
Yeah, I felt quite flat about the album and I definitely prefer Just LOVE over this. I mean, maybe more listens will make the album sound better but right now I'm not feeling it that much. And some of the songs sound bland and repetitive and just cheesy but not in the good way that she usually makes them sound. Oh well.

After listening to the album all the way through, I personally feel that LOVE it is her weakest album. Aside from Pa and Girls, the only really stand out tracks for me are Liar, Happy Time and LOVE. Was there a reason she included a rearrange version of "君が好き" ? It's already on the previous album.

I don't even feel like those are the standout tracks lol. It's an okay album, but most songs are nothing special. I only like SUMAHO so much as to listen to it more than a few times.

I Love You is fine. It's kind of been awhile since I've truly been into one of her ballads. That said, I'm happy for her and her staff. They successful made it to her 10th anniversary with her still successful and able to strongly tour.

I remember the terrible sales for her first singles, and now she is one of the most succesful singers in the last years celebrating a 10th anniversary.

I can’t believe it. I remember when she was a nobody, with just her debut single out. Trying to find info on her, and the only site was her one page website. Fan since Day 1! Even though she’s kinda vanilla, I still love her.

I still remember hearing her latest single "Tokutemo" on an online radio Japanese top 40 countdown. I scrambled to grab her first album on Yahoo Auction Japan before it sold out and I was hooked ever since. It's still one of my top favourite Kana songs. :love

Her recent music hasn't impressed me, but she's still someone I always check out when there's something new. I'm surprised/impressed she's been around for 10 years, she has always given me the vibe of getting married early and retiring cos of that. I still have the feeling she'll do that soon haha :D

Her staff deserves major props. After her numbers went a bit funny in 2011, they stabilized her pretty quick. Only one studio album didn't scan 300k in hard sales between 2011 and 2016. Impressive, given the climate for soloists in Japan since 2010.

I knew Kana with Glowly days but I can't remember if it was near the release of the single or later. If I like this song, her first album didn't impress me. I really fell in love with to LOVE. Her songs went downhill after Sakura I love you and I barely listened to her because it feel like she sold her soul to Sony to make generic songs that every no-name singers do. She slighty caught my attention again with with LOVE but it's with Torisetsu that I was really grabbed into her world once again.

To be honest, even though I buy all her albums, I haven't really enjoyed a full one since Love Place. I've been funny with her direction after her first BEST albums.
