The hair is in fact based on the two main colours of Sukkiri. The studio has those colours when nobody performs. |

I don't understand why she sang this one instead of Haircut! |
I'm not a fan of WATCH OUT either but CHANCES ALL is promising
Wallpaper size fabric softener promo images that I managed to get from http://special.scentnations.com/softener/ https://s15.postimg.cc/epdmc9okb/main_sp.jpg Spoiler:
Going to save these images in my hard disks :love |
|
I'm obsessed with this picture! So cute and sweet. This whole photoshoot is a win for me, love it ♥
https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/6...922/hM22yH.jpg I've always been curious about her fragrances, but basically all the reviews I saw tells that is either very sweet or very "old lady"-ish, is it true (for those who have tried them)? Not that I would use them, just curiosity. Maybe Eternaluxe is better? Idk. And I have to say, I'm still surprised in how successful this perfum line is! |
Really beautiful photoshooting, even if it's very simple. Great to see her fragance line getting more and more additions :)
|
These pcis are really great!
A Music video with Kuu moving in slow motion with simple outfits like that would be great. Like in IN THE AIR vibe... It's not so expensive to make an beautiful MV, so why these last videos have been so bad? We can put in trash almost all videos from W FACE and the same with chances all... |
If she had pulled a Hamasaki and given you no PVs at all, I'm curious as to what would be the reaction then LOL.
Always good to see Kumi on television. I guess I'm odd, but I enjoy Watch Out more than Haircut. I'm pretty satisfied with the promotion thus far. A solid anime tie in, nice Shibuya promo and some television. I can't really complain. It's nice to see Rhythm Zone still standing firmly behind their First Lady. |
I don't like the song and would have prefered a different song to perform, but it helped pushing the album on amazon.jp.
Plus some Japanese fans already made a catch phrase out of it - ワォチャー. :laugh Same reason Japanese loved Lollipop - to most of you guys her Japanese pronounciation of the full English chorus was horrendous, for the Japanese it was fun. |
^ Lollipop is still a bop haha. I remember when Gossip Candy leaked and was so excited. It's strange to see how much the industry has changed in 8 years.
It's nice that the appearance helped boost the album on Amazon. I don't really keep up with that as much, but I'm not surprised. Comments on Twitter were mostly positive. A lot of people appreciate her dancing and energy. |
WATCH OUT is one of the most embarassing things Ive seen and heard LOL..I dont even know where to start with abt it..its just NOISY and NONSENSICAL.
and wtf that CHANCES ALL PV...its hella budget. like just because they invested SO MUCH in HAIRCUT, she just had to milk all of it into another PV? omg |
Why are people so offended by CHANCES ALL? lol It's a little random video that clearly was a bonus/after thought, since it wasn't even in the tracklist originally... You can go back and stan Ayu with no video at all for a 5 tracks album.
|
Yeah and the fact that CHANCES ALL wasn't supposed to get a PV & for it to get it at the last minute , that's not a good thing ? :shrug
I thought it was nice to see all the numerous outfits/looks Kuu had in CHANCES ALL PV although the editing at some parts was a bit odd to me For WATCH OUT , I'm not a fan of how it sounds like but the PV looks real colourful . At least it doesn't look cheap to me Also I feel that the PVs that Kuu made in recent years , some of them at least I still watch them numerous times Wish I can say the same thing for Ayu -_- |
Given the climate for soloists in Japan and the current state of the industry there, I'm grateful that Koda still has firm support from Rhythm Zone. Avex is not doing well, that is a reality. The fact that they are still willing to invest in Koda, and do right by her is something we should be grateful for.
Let me be clear. I and others aren't saying you can't have honest critique or debate, but at the same time have some awareness of the alternative. If she gave you nothing, many of you would be trying to surround the avex building with pitchforks demanding answers. I'm just happy that she's trying and still making the effort to give us something. No shade, but at least we're not being taken for granted. |
Quote:
To be honest I also feel the same with Ayu's new album. It may only be 5 tracks with no PVs, but I'm happy that we got anything from a woman who said she was basically starting to go completely deaf at the beginning of the year. I worry more about her health than getting a full album. |
Quote:
|
Quote:
With her health issues and everything else, I get it. Trouble was probably the best she could do, given her situation. |
It's ok to criticise and not to like every single thing Kuu put out but when people's choice of words used are insensitive if not hurtful , then that's a different matter
The music scene in Japan now is very different as compared to a decade ago . Male and female solo acts can't sell physical releases in Japan but the very lucky few are still able to sell out concerts which's now their main source of income , aside from selling their music digitally + concert goods Anyway to stop myself from writing a long essay , I respect Kuu cos she work hard to get to where she's at now . I thought for her to release 2 albums last year was wild & for her to do it again this year , it's even woah I don't like everything from both W FACE albums and also AND . I think that will apply to DNA as well but at least Kuu tried her best Also on a side note , based on the DVD/Blu-ray tracklist , the DNA album track PVs should be watched in this sequence ? WATCH OUT!! ~DNA~ -> HAIRCUT -> CHANCES ALL |
^ That's how I would watch them, since being seen in that order forms a complete visual narrative.
I also like how despite being filmed a year prior, that HUSH fits in with the other PVs in terms of the vibe (energetic and vibrant colors). |

I love the pink pic, I want it for an album cover.
I don't like the postcard for cd shops but well at least is a bonus. |

anyway, Kuu made me watch Black Clover and every time the opening comes on I get so excited for the album. I wonder if Guess Who Is Back is going to be good in full lmao |

Since I like when they work together, I'm not mad at all. I'm even enjoying a little bit WATCH OUT!! after watching the performance over and over again. |
I think it's cute when she works with her husband, but I also don't like any of the songs they've done together. :x
|
omg seriously? I love them all no exceptions lol
|
Chances All reminds me of someday — I don’t mind it. I prefer it to haircut.
What I do mind is that horrid black Carol Brady wig. |
Ty Dolla $ign? Wow. Interesting that he was involved with Chances All.
I truly love that Kumi and Kenji work together on her albums. |
Oh wait. He uses the name Hi-yunk when he works with her? Scratch what I said then. I thought he was responsible for all the BACK-ON songs like "Poppin love cocktail" and "Bring It On", which I really don't like. But he actually wrote "BRIDGET SONG", so I'm good with him. (Though he also did write "WATCH OUT!!", which I find increasingly annoying, so...)
|
I was actually thinking that lil wayne was the one behind CHANCES ALL. During the chorus after she says "chances all" it sounded so much like him. haha I wasn't that far anyway, but that's very interesting.

Kuu with the Sukkiri!! hosting cast
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DkPInZJU4AcNMPX.jpg:small With Kato Koji https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DkPInZJUUAAGvEn.jpg:small https://twitter.com/ntv_sukkiri/stat...85726615056385 |
So here's a list of all songs written by her husband Kenji and BACK-ON.
Songs by hi-yunk: All for you, LIFE so GOOD!!, BRIDGET SONG, Stand by you, Promise you, ALL RIGHT, LIT, Dangerous, WATCH OUT!! ~DNA~, 心からi love u. Songs by BACK-ON (Kenji & TEEDA): Poppin' love cocktail feat.TEEDA, Bring It On, Guess Who Is Back. It still is funny to me, how BACK-ON wrote Poppin' love cocktail for Kuu, a song about a woman being together with a younger man, while Kuu and Kenji were dating, but the public didn't know it yet. They were such a tease! :laugh Quote:
I expected the performance would be much, much worse and when I watched it, I was pleasantly surprised. :laugh It is not as bad when performed live. Don't like the song nevertheless. But I appreciate the theme/lyrics and that it's probably supposed to sound uncomfortable. |
bpm music show preview:
It's a 1 hour Kuu special. |
I'll try to record next week. Good vocals, but the outfits... Girl... Anyway, I can't wait!
|
I was about to ask if the DNA bonus items images have been released x)
Great to see the full body shot of DNA promo picture regarding the clearfile , for once the CD + DVD cover is not my favourite |
An hour on bpm? Nice.
Random, but I had forgotten how strong Kumi's debut album was. affection is one of the strongest debuts from an avex soloist. Crazy to think they seriously considered terminating her contract. |
The first of the 4 PV specials for the album on TV is also airing on Friday, a day before bpm. Maybe they air one of the other new PVs in full?
For those wondering why she mentions Ayu in the preview...the host (a guy from EXILE btw.) apparently asked her something about her and she says here, that Ayu is also like that and if she does it she doesn't win. What that is.... tune in next week! :D They also preview that Kuu is talking about a never-before-heard story of how ero-kakkoii was created. Quote:
|
Quote:
I didn’t realize they almost terminated her over it. Do you have any more info on that? I would love to read more on it. |
Quote:
@ Corvina, I can't get into her 2nd album. Maybe it's because avex didn't let her write as much. |
Quote:
To fill in the whole story: After the success of real emotion/1000 no Kotoba the singles and the album after didn't meet expectations again, even though Kuu worked as hard for it (and e.g. performed in lots of clubs). Though she also stated later she needed time to find her own style in music and visuals and that lacked in her first three years, cause she didn't really know back then, who she is or wanted to be. That just started to slowly change in 2003 with her first steps into ero-kakkoii. And with the full change in 2004 she got big. I guess it was Koda Reki where she said, that people probably felt that she wasn't sure about herself before. Her 2nd album is just such a well-produced body of work to me. So poppy and catchy with an urban tinge. She worked with Lisa and Blistah for the first time and it really set the tone of her coming direction. I really think it helped her finding herself in her career. Which is why I don't mind that much that she wasn't so involved - she probably learned a lot through it (hence also the theme of the album). |
Grow into One was the first Jpop CD I ever received (as a present along with ayu's Rainbow):love
|
@ Corvina I don't fault Max. In business, sometimes you have to be cruel to be kind. I think he saw her potential, but wasn't going to mince words about her future, if she didn't stop just expecting success to happen.
You are 100% correct, by saying Kumi didn't have a clear vision of herself or career. To be fair, she was a young girl fresh out of high school signed to the most famous label in Japan. There was some personal growth that needed to happen and ultimately she figured out her own style/brand. I should probably clarify my feelings on grow into one. As an album it's fine and her involvement with Lisa and Blistah, was indeed a match made in heaven. She probably wouldn't have made the excellent feel my mind, without the experience of 2000 to 2003. That said, I just get annoyed that she wasn't allowed as much input despite her lyrical skill on the 2nd album. |
Quote:
https://web.archive.org/web/20161231...com/94238.html |
Out of her first albums I prefer affection over grow into one, it feels just more solid even tho her singing technique wasn't polished. But feel my mind for sure wins against both affection and grow into one, you can feel she just clicked with her stage persona during that era and everything worked well together. I feel like affection got personality, grow into one got the technique/production and feel my mind got all of it.
|
I was about to say that she said some things on Koda Reki about that.
I used to dislike grow into one, but lately I've been listening a lot and enjoying it. I feel like affection didn't age as good as grow into one. |
Really curious about what she says exactly about Ayu in bpm. So excited!

DNA TV CM:
Thanks to welcometokodakumiworld.com <3 |
I actually like WATCH OUT more than HAIRCUT. It's a mess and I can see why people don't like it but more I listen to it more I like it. I love the choreography too.
Gimme gimme a cash cash part was the best. lmao I love all her songs, which involve money. Quote:

Pin Drop partial lyrics
https://scontent-sin6-1.cdninstagram...hbJNtIl9CRk-kj https://www.instagram.com/p/BmZyEquABzr/ In case you wonder , yes frieze is an actual word that exists & not a typo spelling error https://www.google.com.sg/search?ei=....0.Zcfe_fFYoGs |
Quote:
PARTY also had spelling mistakes, even though Kuu pronounced everything correctly in the song. Shouldn't happen, but I guess that's Japanese... She explains that Pin Drop means a silence, where you can even hear a pin falling down. It's a performance song. Edit: Ok, Kuu teased at her FC blog, that she's doing acrobatics for this coming tour again, so it could be frieze indeed, if she wants to hint to that, I guess. |
I had a feeling she would probably do some acrobatic stunts again after seeing P!nk in Australia.
|
Quote:
|
It says “your body feels as if it will ‘freeze’ right?” (It’s being used as a verb as it’s followed by する)
And then the end of that section says “only I’ve got the antidote” Frieze is an extremely obscure word. I’d say the majority of English speakers would not even know it exists... So I have a hard time believing it was used as some sort of double meaning... I’m going to assume it’s a stylistic choice more than anything. |
I have the same thoughts as before that , I never knew the word Frieze does exist in the English language and let alone English is my 1st language
Who knew that today I learnt something new thanks to Kuu x) Bigger images of the numerous DNA bonus items have been uploaded online Spoiler:

Watch Out is at least tolerable in high quality. Some edgy elements were added here and there, I am actually loving the bridge part before the final chorus. I don't think Haircut would be this powerful live.. It is certainly Kenji's most experimental track to date :laugh
|
Quote:
The choreography in that live there was...hoo boy...that was something. Just messy, sloppy, nonsense. Kuu is such a great performer, but you can only do so much with the material. Maybe I'm being harsh, but I haven't really enjoyed one of Kuu's albums for a long time now. She's continuing in a direction that I just don't understand. :( |
The reaction to WATCH OUT is odd...
Are we seriously going to pretend that Blingx3, It's All Love, and POP DIVA don't exist. |
I'm telling you, all you need is a few drinks to enjoy Watch Out (and maybe something else that they are going to legalize in Canada very soon...). :laugh
Honestly, I am really enjoying the direction Kuu is taking. Its different, and its not for everyone. Its kinda like gyaru fashion. I have loved it since day one, but most people find it hard to look at. Its all about doing what makes you happy without hurting others and being kick ass. Screw the rules! Maybe be a bit of an eyesore :laugh |
@ALfromHELLSING Here it is: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1S7b...ew?usp=sharing
--- She's recording something: https://www.instagram.com/p/BmcqTB-Aadw/ I would say that she's recording the videos for the tour. Wish it was a recording of a performance or something, but I guess the promotion is gonna end after bpm and the a-nation. |

I once saw a video installation at a vernissage by a contemporary modern artist and he did a "song" there mainly done with his voice and some background instruments - screaming and doing other sounds with his voice.
WATCH OUT!! reminds me of that. :laugh Just think about it like that - avantgarde art. Maybe everybody is doing it like that in 10 years+? :P Two more dates of DNA Tour are sold out! 09.23. Sapporo 12.01. Sendai And the first date of the tour in Fukuoka only has some few tickets left now as well. |
Her hair looks great with the extensios in that insta video, I'd also guess it's for the tour.
|
Always good to see the tour selling well. I'm curious how the stage design will look. After the excellent visuals for W FACE, I'm excited to see what she and her staff come up with.
|
I love Bling Bling Bling (the original mix), the rock version she's been using since 2011 kinda lost its real funky essence.
|
Best 3rd Universe is at #7 on Recochoku - http://recochoku.jp/ranking/album/daily/ What a jump. haha it is 34 on weekly.
----- Tower Record has previews for all songs, including the intro, around 45sec per song - http://tower.jp/item/4750079/DNA-%5bCD%EF%BC%8BDVD%5d Watch this album becomes my favorite! Loving everything and I don't even care. ScREam and HOT HOT ♥ . The opening is fire as well. |

It's a very considerate present for Kuu, she loves fruit juices (it's in her profile in the first post ;) ).
bpm uploaded another short teaser for Saturday: https://www.instagram.com/p/BmgMzfwg...d=4g0gkx1yox1x Koda Kumi World uploaded instructions how to watch it live: http://welcometokodakumiworld.com/actu/News.php I can't, cause I'm working. ;_; Hope it's up already when I'm home. Guys, I count on you! |
@Corvina soon after they show the episode, the Premium version of Abema is gonna have the full episodes to watch just like Netflix. You can watch on google chrome with VPN, they have a 1 month free trial, and you don't even have to do an account, just your email is enough. I'm not gonna watch live, it's too laggy for me. :)
|
The newspaper Sports Hochi is featuring Kuu with a long interview:
https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/8...922/tb3bSs.png The headline is "from ero-kakkoii to mama-kakkoii". :laugh She talks about her family and DNA. The interview wasn't done too long ago - she made a post about it on her FC blog August 6th. @kaled That's awesome, thanks! :) Then I gonna watch it unhurriedly after work while dinner. |
If I order Fanclub version, is it counted on Oricon?
I heard that Ayu's newest album did. |
Quote:
When AND bounced back in weekly sales with over 2k it was because of the 2nd batch of FC versions being shipped out. As long as there is a version of a release of the same name released through normal retailers, special versions are counted. |
@Corvina, does that mean that the total sales for AND are incomplete then? I didn't think the first batch of fan club versions counted when the album first entered the album chart.

A very pleasant surprise. I do wonder what they were discussing, since it does indeed look a bit serious.
|
Maybe it's the special thing Ayu said she was going to do on a-nation this year. Collaboration maybe? Looks like a business discussion than just a friendly meeting.
|
A collaboration between the two of them would have a lot of potential!
|
^
It would be the best thing for both. |
^
Yeap, it sure would be! |
Ayu's caption says something along the lines of they ran into each other while they were rehearsing (maybe waiting for elevator?). That while it looks like a serious picture, they actually both burst out laughing. Or something to that extent.
|
Fingers crossed for collaboration Single!
