I always thought the exclusion of live band was due to lack of space in the smaller concert halls ayu was performing in the Just the beginning Tour and Trouble tour.. vaguely read it somewhere but I could be wrong.
if ayu reverts to performing in Arenas, it might look odd without a band. Also, I am so done with the choir. Once or twice was good, not all the time haha |
I'll be in favour of the strings and the choir. They can add a nice touch to some songs and even when they don't I am not bothered that much :) As for the band, it's nice when they're there and if not - I wouldn't say it's worse but simply different. And the tour starts this weekend. I can't wait to see the setlist, the stage and the outfits!

I'm also in favour of choir and live orchestra. how beautiful you are (the Promised Land one), Voyage, the new arrangement of evolution and Return Road are all superb (hbya in particular is better than the studio version for me). Also the violinist who did a solo performance during an interlude of MUSIC for LIFE is really really talented.

Avex knows how to frustrate people going to Ayu’s show. I am at the venue and it has been a real hurdle to enter the venue at digital pass app which generates QR code for entry is crashing with SQL error all the time. After you manage to generate QR code and enter inside you need to figure out where is your seat and it shows it in the same app, just not on the main screen so you need even more luck to survive the crashes. I am fighting for 40 minutes already and still don’t know where is my seat. And I am not the only one it seems…
PS. The staff has passed now announcing that indeed the server is down so getting ticket data is difficult. 申し訳ございません、ご協力をお願いします |

It is indeed similar to that. The venue is quite small, after catwalk stage there are around 12 rows in the arena. The start of the show seems to be delayed until most of the people figure out where their seats are. I took a pic of catwalk area, will upload after the show if no one does before me

The opening movie was really cool. I think she was sitting on a satellite? Looking down at earth, and then she jumps off and (off screen) turns into a meteor heading towards earth and it zooms into Japan and the Makuhari venue.
And the dress she wore for Pray might be in my top list of costumes. It was a beautiful, white, bejeweled hooded dress, with fur cuffs and she had a long, cool toned white-blonde wig. It was so pretty. |

The concert was INSANE. It was one rare song after another. She didn't let us breath. And it was so funny seeing the audience very surprised everytime a song started. The intro with Dreamed a Dream and the big planet Earth was epic and the electro medley was everything. Connected!!!!! |
It’s the first tour in so long that I actually want to see again lol.
I think she really hit a great balance with the set list. Old + new, rock, pop, ballads, happy, dark. For several years I felt her tours leaned very dark, so this was very welcomed for me! Her voice had ups and downs. From my memory, the beginning of Pray, for example, was nearly perfect to the recording, but she did have some pitch issues as it progressed. No future might’ve been the toughest song for her… But overall I do think she did well. That being said, the venue can make a huge difference in how a concert sounds. |

I found Petals to be the most beautiful performance of this show. She looked great and everything happening on the stage seemed well thought of. I am not sure I am fan of Pray dress or her wig during that song though. |

I really shouldn't be doing this, but here is Last Links as I don't believe it will survive till final show. I think for CDL many rare songs will be replaced with something, and when tour goes abroad as well - to appeal more to general public and not hardcore fans.

I really enjoyed both audios, thanks Ayumi_lover. She's off-key during some parts and had pitch problems here and there, but she's pretty stable overall, mantaining her voice until the end. And her actual voice suited both songs well. I'm curious for petal, Like a doll and My Way. Any news about today's show? |

Well, she also did kiss o' kill in 2007 (ball mask, cloaks, cross imagery) and kept it in the setlist for the non-Japan dates, didn't she? It's definitely not the same concept but it could also be seen as controversial.
Petal sounds like a highlight, I really hope we get to see it. I wonder if/when we get to see photos of the actual stage and some of her costumes. Sometimes we got press photos & a few snippets of the show on TV, like with PoM18 or A^3, but I guess that was due to the anniversary stuff? About the stage: I loooove the catwalk!! :heart I think it would've been nice if there was one in the middle, too, like with for AT03-04 but this is really cool and fresh. It feels good to see her do an arena tour again! I really wonder what the main stage looks like. Does it have stairs (e.g. AT10, AT13 or CDL16-17)? The fact that she will tour places like Taiwan for the first time since 2008 is really exciting. Remember when she talked about doing another Asia Tour, circa 2015/6? Well, it's finally happening! Let's hope everything will go safely! I can't wait for the broadcast and the inevitable DVD! :love Here's hoping she keeps in most (if not all!) of the rare songs. Ayu has been very good to us when it comes to performing & recording unperformed/rare songs in recent years (kanariya, ever free, SAKURA, Bye-bye darling, It was, Return Road etc). |
