Poor KCO tbh. Love her and her distinct voice. Queen of the 90s. I even went out of my way a bit to find he solo album in Japan to no luck. I did read that that album was made to help financing or whatever when TK was in the slammer.

chocopockymaster 15th August 2015 11:50 PM

It really is heartbreaking. :( Did you hear the audio message that she recorded for one of the Remode 1 promo events? I nearly cried. I don't know that we'll ever hear her sing again. :no

visionfactory 16th August 2015 06:07 AM

I was teary too when listening to it, but her words were so touching, I will be waiting forever for her comeback!

mi|kshake 25th August 2015 11:30 PM

I recently downloaded Knockin' On the Door of My Heart which I am loving!

I have not heard this audio message?! I kind of want to now, but I'm a little scared... Sounds like it's a really depressing thing to hear. :(

Omg Knockin' is SO GOOD! Second-best track on Lights2, imo. :)

In news today: a tribute album is coming this fall! Also new music videos for old hits that don't have ones yet, and new music under the name globe featuring Tetsuya Komuro & MARC. I'm definitely in favour of a tribute album, I hope we get Ayu's take of DEPARTURES.

paper_doll 26th August 2015 07:47 PM

Oooh, a tribute album would be interesting!

It's on ARAMA--I don't have a direct link right now because iPhone :(

IF WE DON'T GET A STUDIO VERSION OF AYU COVERING DEPARTURES I WILL RIOT

no nao tho pls, someone call marc

Kacku 27th August 2015 08:18 AM

^ Thanks for the info, I'll go look it up later... maybe. Let's see how much of a crying mood I'll be in tonight.

I WILL JOIN THE RIOT and seriously, keep Naoya out of the studio, he embarrased himself enough on stage.

ayumisrael 27th August 2015 08:33 AM

Isn't Always Together just godly?

I wonder if their last few albums like Maniac, globe2 Pop & Rock and new deal are as good as the older ones.

And of course I also want a studio version of ayu's DEPARTURES but I can see it with Naoya.
At least they will polish him a bit.

Ashen Twilight 28th August 2015 02:52 AM

Actually, maniac and globe2 pop/rock have some of my favorite globe songs on them. I even think they are better than some of their earlier albums like Love again, outernet, and Relation. Definitely give them a listen.

tokyoxjapanxfan 1st September 2015 04:47 AM

I actually don't want her to cover Departues lol. It's like...too basic a choice. I'd prefer a rarer/less famous song.

But honestly I'll be happy either way lol.

I'm guessing it'll be TK, Marc and then a bevy of female singers for the new releases? Kind of like the m-flo loves series?

ExodusUK 4th September 2015 02:55 AM

Ayu should do Many Classic Moments or Wanna Be A Dreammaker for this. Actually let her do 2 songs (Departures).

js_surrealism 4th September 2015 05:04 AM

Lights and Lights 2 remain the most flawless duo of albums ever, for me, and the follow up Level 4 was equally good. It's so hard to believe that those albums are over 10 years old now because any of those tracks would sound right at home even now, in 2015.

Would kill for new work from globe. The Remoded songs really don't cut it for me.

ayumisrael 4th September 2015 05:37 AM

I love Many Classic Moments too! I wish ayu would cover that and Always Together as well.

Kacku 4th September 2015 07:26 AM

I can't even remember what album Always Together is from... :laugh I would be here for Ayu's Many Classic Moments! I also think FACE might be an interesting song for her to cover. But I'd be 100% okay with DEPARTURES too, no matter how obvious a choice it is.

I was a bit let down by Remode too, most of the arrangements were really predictable and basic. Rakuen no Uso was nice though.

ayumisrael 4th September 2015 09:50 AM

It's from globe.
It's my favorite globe song, it's so haunting.

Many Classic Moments or bust.

KuuXAyu-fan 3rd October 2015 04:42 AM

for a second i thought it was a new picture lol

mizuki-7 4th October 2015 11:00 AM

I don't want DEPARTURES.. it's so predictable lol
I quite liked her cover at A-Nation she hits the higher notes and honestly I didn't know that she was able to sing in that register because as we can see in her discography she barely takes songs that allow her to sing high notes !! The chorus was too high for her and she sounded a little like she was screaming ... with a little practice I think she could nail it but globe songs are really difficult to sing in general ;)

I really want her to sing a song from FACES PLACES (picture of my mind or FACE for exemple) or FREEDOM !! I could totally imagine her taking this song like "Movin on without you" and asking Redone to make a modern version of this song !

There are so much songs from globe I would she covers (Illusion, Precious memories, perfume love, don't look back, love again , Wanderin' Destiny, degeneration, shine on you, Tokyo To Iwaki etc... so much songs XD)

Delicious n Bold 4th November 2015 03:31 AM

Edit: false alarm
The globe Canadian store on iTunes hasn't been updated.

Irish_Ayu_Fan 4th December 2015 03:18 PM

Hey guys, just wondering if anyone had any suggestions on the best globe songs to listen to? I always knew who they were but only listened to Many Classic Moments cos of the Ayu cover. I really liked the original (which i didn't expect because I wasn't fond of Keiko's voice on a song is born haha!) Any ideas would be greatly appreciated! :)

visionfactory 4th December 2015 06:14 PM

This song sounds just like an ayu song you may like it

And of course DEPARTURES

Listen to Feel Like Dance if you like 90s Namie Amuro

Irish_Ayu_Fan 4th December 2015 06:22 PM

Cool, I'll check them out! Thanks a lot.

If you're still looking for things to try, do I have a list for you...

In general, if you really dislike Keiko's early-career shrillness, you'll probably want to avoid a lot of their pre-outernet material. There are many amazing songs from that period as well, but her singing can be quite a lot. If you're looking for albums to try, Lights is a great one to start with, that's how I went down the rabbit hole. :P

And now, a quite exhaustive list of globe songs I enjoy and would recommend, sorted by album:
Spoiler:
globe:
DEPARTURES (and the ARRIVAL version from one of their best-of albums is even better, imo)
Precious Memories
FREEDOM

FACES PLACES:
DEGENERATE
FACES PLACES
FACE
Anytime smokin' cigarette
Can't Stop Fallin' in Love
Guilty pleasure: Because I LOVE the NIGHT (it's so trashy, but catchy :laugh)

Love again:
Love again
Wanderin' Destiny

Relation:
... honestly, it's been so long since I listened to this one (actual years) that I can't really name anything, my apologies

outernet (a very good album, highly recommended):
outernet
garden
angel's song
like a prayer
DON'T LOOK BACK (it's EPIC)
Rakuen no Uso
on the way to YOU

Lights:
EVERYTHING! ... okay, I'll also do the actual list
Many Classic Moments
Merry Go Round
genesis of next
Megami
try this shoot
Stop! In The Name Of Love
Lights brought the future

Lights2:
TRANSCONTINENTAL WAY (I hope you like epic trance instrumentals!)
OVER THE RAINBOW
Knockin' on the door of my heart
STARTING FROM HERE
liquid panorama

LEVEL 4:
out of control
get it on now
this is the last night
INSIDE
seize the light (!!!!!!!!!)
compass

globe2 pop/rock:
Love goes on!!
EXPECTATION
Asian night
goodBye NOW
Judgement

maniac:
Soldier
Why Why tell me Why
Tokyo to Iu Machi
Shine on you

new deal:
It's only five songs and they're all really enjoyable :)

Others:
winter comes around again (TK Mix)
They Fight Now
GDM Remix album

That should be enough for starters. :P Check out the discography thread in the download section if you're looking for albums or some rare songs.

In other news, I'm ASTOUNDED at how good almost all the covers for the upcoming tribute album are sounding! Like, I really liked everything except AAA and lol so far, and there's still Miu Sakamoto, Mirei Touyama and Koda Kumi to look forward to! I was only mildly excited for the album before, but now I'm really looking forward to it. I don't even know which preview is my favourite so far: Kaela Kimura's FACES PLACES sounds really good so far, hitomi's Anytime smokin' cigarette is super cool and I can't wait to hear the rest, GReeeeN's FACE is really faithful to the original and I LOVE the original, HYDE's DEPARTURES sounds awesome, TRF's cover sounds epic (which I NEVER expected)... and I like Ayu's Many Classic Moments very much, but honestly, it tries too hard to match the original and so far it sounds like it just can't, despite Ayu doing her best Keiko impression, because the original is just magic. I honestly do like Ayu's version a lot so far, but the original >>>>>>>

Ashen Twilight 5th December 2015 07:59 AM

^ I agree. The cover album has been such a nice surprise. I wasn't expecting this quality. My favorite from the previews is definitely TRF's cover. hitomi would be second.

Also, you are terrible for leaving out open wide, from the beginning, and THE BOX in your list of songs. =P You have convinced me to listen to outernet again, though. I only saved to songs from when when I first got it. And I do agree with what you said about Relation *snore*

Irish_Ayu_Fan 5th December 2015 11:02 AM

TRF's song is so great! And the preview seems to cut off just as the song gets more intense, I'm so excited to hear the rest.

I didn't even remember open wide and from the beginning, but I listened to them just now, and though open wide is quite meh, from the beginning is definitely nice... but how did I leave THE BOX out, I LOVE that song?! I AM terrible! I hereby retroactively include THE BOX on my list, it's weird but so catchy and fun! Good thing those were the only faults in my list. =P

Oh, I'm so happy you're giving outernet another chance! It seems very underrated, no one ever talks about it though it contains so many awesome songs and the style is really unique. Hopefully you'll agree after the re-listen. :)

It was a special single project thing..March 29 2000, they release three singles on the same day representing each member. Keiko wrote the lyrics for on the way to YOU.

[2000.03.29] Throwin' down in the double 0 (globe featuring Komuro Tetsuya)
[2000.03.29] THE MAIN LORD (globe featuring MARC)
[2000.03.29] on the way to YOU (globe featuring Keiko)

Another lesser known globe song that strikes me as something TK would make for Ayu now...

ayumisrael 5th December 2015 09:36 PM

Is winter comes around again composed from a various globe songs compositions mixture?

Is it on an original album?

Kacku 5th December 2015 10:42 PM

^ I haven't seen anything about winter comes around again being a hybrid of other globe songs. Do you hear snippets of several songs there? I can only hear a piece of DEPARTURES, and that might just be TK compositions repeating themselves, not necessarily something he did intentionallly (though in this case it might actually well be deliberate, I know I would want to make a reference if I had composed a winter song as amazing as DEPARTURES :P).

It's not on any original album, the original version is only found on the special single the song hails from and the updated TK Mix is on the 8 years ~Many Classic Moments~ best-of album.

This is really cool. I notice DEPARTURES and Can't Stop Falling in Love with some different lyrics.

Kacku 6th December 2015 09:58 PM

^ Now that you named it... How did I not hear Can't Stop Fallin' in Love before? Totally a hybrid song, and a really cool one. I prefer the TK Mix though, the background vocals on this version come close to ruining it.

Sidenote: I wish someone would translate the comments by all the artists participating on the tribute album on the index page of globe's official site, it would be nice to know what they're all saying.

I really agree with you this cover album seems really well made !! Like I have already said globe is among my top 3 (just after Nana Mizuki & Ayu) so I know every of their songs and I've a special attachment in regard to Keiko's voice and her unmatchable emotions so it's really difficult honestly to be objective but none of them are better than the originals for me but regarding music arrangements it's another story I don't know who made them but some songs are really well upgraded like Anytime smokin’ cigarette, wanna Be A Dreammaker or SWEET PAIN !

In regard to Ayu cover I'm just like you I really like it but something is missing I don't know it's like she didn't put enough of her emotions into it ? I will wait for the rest of the song but I'm not 100% satisfied with it ...I am a bit disappointed because I think that Ayu was the best choice to cover a globe song since her voice has always been similar to Keiko ... yet something is missing ...

Where's "They Fight Now" from? You mentioned it in your recommendations post.

I only recently got into globe, and I really LOVE on the way to YOU, Soldier, Please don't give up and from the beginning (this one is probably my favorite).

And thank you, Kacku, for that long list of recommendations! I'll use it as a reference.

Yeah, I also really like the arrangements on Anytime smokin' cigarette and wanna Be A Dreammaker, I'd love to know who did them! Especially wanna Be A Dreammaker: the original arrangement is super intense, and I do like that, though sometimes all the loudness RIGHT IN YOUR EARS AND FACE can be a bit much, but TRF's vew version gives the vocals and melody more room to exist and is better off for it.

I'm glad you share my feelings about Ayu's Many Classic Moments. I don't think Ayu's level of emotion is the problem for me? But one thing I love about the original that Ayu's version doesn't do as well is how it builds intensity by switching and contrasting between loud and quiet: it starts off very quiet, just the lonely synth playing before Keiko comes in singing quietly, and from there she and the music get progressively louder until the chorus, where Keiko goes all out and the arrangement settles down and lets her do her thing. The contrasts aren't as strong in Ayu's version, it starts off louder and I feel like she doesn't really go all out in the second part of the chorus? Like, this would have called for some NO FUTURE level bombastic bellowing, but I don't feel like I'm quite getting that. I hope to hear it in the rest of the song! But she totally nails the chorus! I'm still excited to hear the rest though something is a little off.

:eek You don't like Relation ??? I would totally recommend this album it's their more experimental album from the 90's all the singles are classics (I'm not really into Sweet Heart because it's too sugary) Wanna Be a Dreammaker, perfume of love, Sa Yo Na Ra and what about the album tracks Creamy Day, like a snowy kiss, Illusion :love:love:love Across the Street, Cross the Waters is probably the least accessible song in this album too much experimental but it's definitely interesting !

I can't believe you don't recommend it XD :P

I just listened to Relation this weekend and I really wish I could share your sentiments about it. Maybe I need to listen to it again with these things in mind, but none of the tracks aside from wanna Be A Dreammaker and Relation (I like this instrumental way too much for some reason) and maybe Across the Street, Cross the Waters ever made much of an impression on me.

But yay, agreement on Many Classic Moments! :D

Also, now that the preview for Koda Kumi's cover of Wanderin' Destiny is out, one more track to add to the pile of excellent this tribute album is shaping up to be! It sounds so nice, and I love that she also does MARC's lines! And I still have Miu Sakamoto and Mirei Touyama to look forward to. Next week cannot come too soon. :love

ExodusUK 7th December 2015 06:48 PM

As somewhat a completist, I hate how many stupid pointless compilations this group has. Like 10 different versions/edit of the same song or remix.

It just occurred to me..TK pretty much just copied and pasted the synth/melody of Maunalua Bay for the verses of Last Angel.

Kacku 8th December 2015 09:57 PM

Mirei Touyama's Can't Stop Fallin' in Love preview was uploaded and it's SO GOOD I WANT TO SCREAM GIVE ME THE ALBUM ALREADY

Also, I'm giving Relation yet another go and I think I'm actually starting to get into it. letting out a deep breath is a pretty great song, across the street, cross the waters is very interesting once it gets going, and I'm liking wanna Be A Dreammaker more and more as time goes on. Still a hard pass to creamy day and Sa Yo Na Ra though. sweet heart isn't making a good impression either.

mi|kshake 8th December 2015 11:15 PM

Thanks for the song recommendations guys. I have so far bought Seize The Light and Winter Comes Around Again (TK Mix)!

Apart from the covers album which I can't wait to preorder (2 disc edition!), which Globe album do you recommend I start with first?

I love the dated sound of some of their songs although it has taken me a while to get into some of TK's works in the past e.g. Namie's Concentration 20, although it has great songs, only clicked with me as an album years after I got it. And I only really got into Sweet 19 Blues in recent years.

Kacku 9th December 2015 06:26 PM

^ globe's career can be broken into three distinct eras quite easily, so I'm gonna give you recommendations from each of them.

First, their 90s era, which covers their first four albums and definitely has the dated TK sound you mention. My favourite album from this era is FACES PLACES: it contains a great number of awesome, classic tracks and is surprisingly listenable for a 90s TK album.

Second, their trance era, which is amazing and covers their next four albums. Honestly, I think all of them are great, but I would recommend Lights for starters: it's easier to get into than outernet or LEVEL4, simply better than Lights2, and just a phenomenally good album, all of the tracks are so great!

Third, their return to pop-rock, not sounding so dated this time around! My favourite from the three albums in this era is globe2 pop/rock, but any of them is a good choice, really :)

kinix 9th December 2015 06:43 PM

I'm kinda sad that genesis of next isn't covered in this album =(

ayumisrael 13th December 2015 10:32 PM

I wonder how keiko's doing.
I really like her, I hope she is doing fine... It's kinda sad that she doesn't want to show herself in vids/public, I wonder if she is really ok or in a bad condition. I hope she will somehow get fine since she is great. Last time anyone saw her in public was 2009 right?

btw I came across this fantastic Many Classic Moments classical version live.

tokyoxjapanxfan 13th December 2015 11:56 PM

I recommend Soldier. This song seems to be overlooked a lot haha.

mi|kshake 14th December 2015 11:04 PM

Thanks for the advice Kacku!

As a newbie, I find their discography a bit "messy" due to all the compilations and remix albums so it's helpful to have it broken down.

Kacku 16th December 2015 04:47 PM

The tribute album is out! And it's #4 in the Oricon charts on the first day, nice! #3 sold 10 141 copies, so this album is probably not far behind. :)

Anyway, thoughts about all the new covers?? :D

Spoiler:
DEPARTURES: The full version made me discover that HYDE is not my favourite vocalist, he comes close to being annoying at times... but it's a good cover, I like it!

FACES PLACES: This is so great! I love the new arrangement, and Kaela sells the emotion of the song though she doesn't dare go as loud as Keiko. I'll be replaying this a lot.

Joy to the love: Still godawful. I'm disappointed, AAA can do TK songs way better than this. :|

Many Classic Moments: Still weaker than the original, still good and enjoyable. I've seen many people rejoice at MARC's rap being cut, but I always thought Many Classic Moments utilised him perfectly and really enjoyed his rap, it really contributed to the song's mood. That was the long-winded way of saying that the original rap bridge was way better than this random EDM mess. It's pretty lame and basic. But Ayu gave me what I wanted in the final bridge: she went all out and sold it!!

Precious Memories: I get the urge to make a detailed arrangement for a song as slow as this one, but it might not have been the best choice here (is it ever?). Miu Sakamoto's voice is BEAUTIFUL and so great for this song, but the arrangement is so busy it almost distracts you from her singing. But I still like this version, the arrangement is interesting if nothing else, and did I mention that Miu Sakamoto's voice is BEAUTIFUL?

FACE: I don't really care for their dentist-rap sections, but FACE is flawless and this version samples it heavily, so that's good?

Can't Stop Fallin' in Love: I think this might be my favourite song from this album, I've been torturing my sick throat all day trying to sing along whenever I can. Perfect track for Mirei Touyama's voice, and she makes it her own. The pre-chorus with its harmonies is one of the sweetest things to come out of J-pop in 2015, and I get a rush every time I hear the chorus kick in. So good. The end is a bit embarrassing, but I can get over it.

FREEDOM: It's... ok? I have a hard time remembering this one after it's over.

Wanderin' Destiny: Kumi is definitely not one of my favourite vocalists, but she does good here, and the arrangement is AMAZING. CHILLS. And I still love that she does MARC's rap as well. Another great one!

Love again: This is quite cool! Not as cool as the original, but still a good one.

Anytime smokin' cigarette: Sooooo good. Perfect arrangement and great performance by hitomi. Just yeeeeeeeeeeeeeessssss so much.

SWEET PAIN: This is almost Joy to the love level of terrible. The pounding synth sounds like headache.

wanna Be A Dreammaker: Great! Epic! Yeeeeessss!

Sa Yo Na Ra: Meeehh. I'm sure my bias against everything about the -48 groups is affecting my opinion, but Ayaka Umeda doesn't seem to be anything special as far as singing goes. This song is ok, just a little boring.

mi|kshake 16th December 2015 11:42 PM

Thanks for your review! I can't wait to get my copy of the album (2 disc version)!

Klauser_Bateson 17th December 2015 05:29 AM

My two cents on the covers:

DEPARTURES: I like HYDE and all, but I wasn't really feeling this cover. It's the way the he sings the verses. The chorus I had no problem with.

FACES PLACES:
I only got through about halfway before I was like "done, next". I'm just not a fan of this song. I like Kaela, but she couldn't make me like this song.

Joy to the love: I thought it was nice, I enjoyed it. It would have been nice to have the old raps in this version. Oh well.

Many Classic Moments: I think Ayu's cover of Movin' on without you might be a little better than this, but I still find this enjoyable. I'll also take the EDM over the rap the original had anyday. That rap is the reason why I don't listen the original and prefer to listen to remixes who cut him out. I always found it so tacked on and unnecessary.

Precious Memories: I agree with Kacku's thoughts on this song. Miu Sakamoto's voice is AMAZING. That arrangement does take some getting used to though. I think this one may grow on me with time.

FACE: The raps were the only thing I liked about this cover. I wish there were more raps and less of the actual song to be quite honest.

Can't Stop Fallin' in Love: This cover I really like! This is my second favorite on the album.

FREEDOM: This actually rekindled my interest in the song. I was getting a little bored with the original.

Wanderin' Destiny: This is without a doubt my favorite of the bunch. It's the best thing Kuu's put out all year.

Love again: Going to agree with Kacku on this one.

Anytime smokin' cigarette: YES HITOMI. You did great with this one.

SWEET PAIN: It's a decent effort in my opinion.

wanna Be A Dreammaker: Nice nice nice.

Sa Yo Na Ra: It's alright, nothing special.

visionfactory 17th December 2015 08:28 PM

Many Classic Moments is as good as the original I love it, a true gem :heart

mizuki-7 17th December 2015 09:15 PM

My little review =) :

DEPARTURES: The new arrangements are great it sound richer and Hyde did a good job I like this cover !

FACES PLACES: Honestly she has a beautiful voice but she ruined the song by lowering the key like this ! that was boring ... what is amazing in the original is how Keiko rises the key throughout the song but here... Arrangements are really good but it's not enough :/

Joy to the love: yeah not really impressed ! this version is verry similar to the original !

Many Classic Moments: I like it better in full I still prefer the original over this but it was a nice try and I love the final when she hits the high notes !!!

Precious Memories: Not feeling this one too ... it's like her voice don't match the arrangement or inversement ?

FACE: ...

Can't Stop Fallin' in Love: Really well done !!

FREEDOM: Yeah not my cup of tea ...

Wanderin' Destiny: Amazing arrangements they gave me chills but I prefer how Keiko handle this song vocally !

Love again: It's sound quite dated compared to the other covers!

Anytime smokin' cigarette: Great cover among the best !

SWEET PAIN: Surprisingly I like this cover the arrangements sound really western !

wanna Be A Dreammaker: Amazing !

Sa Yo Na Ra: "It's alright, nothing special"

Kacku 19th December 2015 06:29 PM

Klauser Bateson and mizuki-7, I'm glad you both liked Can't Stop Fallin' in Love as well. :D And also Anytime smokin' cigarette and wanna Be A Dreammaker, everyone seems to love those two, as it should be.

Charts update: #4 -> #4 -> #6 -> #8 EDIT: -> #9 -> #21

Pieces_of_SEVEN 20th December 2015 04:55 AM

Many Classic Moments is my favorite track for sure. ;)

mi|kshake 3rd February 2016 10:38 PM

My quick, belated thoughts, I'll post a more detailed review soon.

I love this album and have been listening to it for the last few weeks!!!

I do prefer a lot of the covers to the originals so far like Faces Places, because Keiko is a bit too shrieky for me. Too many highlights on the album, one being Greeeen's cover of Face. I've never heard the original or Greeeen before this but thought it was a great cover!

mi|kshake 22nd February 2016 11:32 PM

I've now been obsessing over some of the original tracks - mainly Anytime Smokin' Cigarette and Wanna Be A Dreammaker.

I've been watching some videos on Avex's channel too. The Wanna Be A Dreammaker PV is really cool and the "live" version of Anytime Smokin' Cigarette is great too! I love Keiko's performance in the concert clips (even if they've just slapped the studio version of the song over the live clips).

I'm a bit confused about their videography e.g. I notice Avex has uploaded a live clip montage for the Face 20th Edit, but does it not have an official PV? Could anyone list me their PVs?

mi|kshake 2nd April 2016 10:37 PM

I notice from the Official FB page that there is a website for their 20th anniversary:

http://avex.jp/globe/

I was wondering if this means that they are going to do a 20th edit PV for Departures and Faces Places or if Face won a poll for them to make the 20th edit PV that was uploaded to Avex's channel a couple of weeks ago?

ExodusUK 10th April 2016 05:04 AM

Listening to remode...TK is such a god like genius with melodies, its incredible..

Macro 12th April 2016 10:23 PM

Hello guys!

I'm starting my globe collection.

Today I got CRUISE RECORD 1995-2000, but I have a problem tagging some songs.

What are the versions of the following songs used on this compilation:

Sa Yo Na Ra - single or album version?

SWEET PAIN - single or album version?

Perfume of love - single or album version?

I have both the globe and relation album... but it's so strange to get these things tagged.

Thanks for your input

mi|kshake 12th April 2016 11:19 PM

^I'm afraid I can't help as I'm a fairly new fan myself!

I got my first Globe album a few weeks ago (Globe Pop/Rock 2) and am loving it! Some of the songs weren't instant but the melodies got stuck in my head and now I'm addicted to listening to Globe! (Well the only other album I own is the cover album and a few songs from iTunes)

I almost think I need to give myself a wee break before I OD! I'm going to get Maniac next. I'm planning on working my way through their discography backwards, although I distracted by a review of Pop/Rock 2 I read and decided to buy it first!

So many! I only have Lights and LEVEL 4, I'm a little envious now. (I can't help with the tagging problem either, I don't have CRUISE RECORD to compare. :()

mi|kshake 18th April 2016 11:06 PM

^And I thought you had all their albums Kacku :P

It's the first review on YesAsia here

So many good songs but I think my favourites are Expectation (although Keiko's voice does get a bit high for me but I'm getting used to it!), Back 2 be and Here I Am. I know when I listen to the album again I'll be like "why didn't I include this song?"

Thanks for the recommendation guys! I have Seize The Light so far- thank you iTunes! Although I'll be buying the physical copy, which (if I'm being good) I will wait until my May pay to order as I'm awaiting my A Best Deluxe Edition and have just bought an EP off iTunes.

oaristos 2nd May 2016 11:02 PM

It was just uploaded on avex's official YouTube channel:

mi|kshake 2nd May 2016 11:16 PM

Yay - so happy about this! I was literally just thinking about what the results with the Face PV on their website was about today. (I was starting to think Face was the only PV we were getting and that Departures and Faces Places were the songs that almost got a PV)

So, very surprised to see this pop up on YouTube. I like how the mixes for Face and Departures are slightly different. Does anyone know the story for the PV? Google Translate wasn't very clear.

And full length PVs too - thanks Avex!

Irish_Ayu_Fan 3rd May 2016 10:45 AM

Hi everyone! Just wondering when globes last live performance was? I found a performance of FACE at a nation and they all looked older than at a nation '05.

mi|kshake 5th May 2016 12:05 AM

I'm not exactly a Globe expert but I was looking for the performance you mentioned on YouTube and noticed there was a news clip for A-Nation 2009 popping up so I assume it's from that year (I didn't watch the clip).

I noticed Keiko bowed a couple of times and TK looked a little apprehensive - I assume this was their first performance after the fraud case? It's a shame they never got a chance to release anything before Keiko's stroke. I still hope they make a comeback someday.

mi|kshake 14th May 2016 01:49 PM

I was on a train journey yesterday and listened to every Globe song I owned and thoroughly enjoyed it!

cosmicfirefly 17th June 2016 08:01 AM

Don't think it was already posted here but they announced Remode 2 on their website. Only I'm a little confused because Anytime smokin' cigarette is in the tracklist, but that's already in Remode 1. I'm really looking forward to it, I love Remode 1! They also announced a live blu-ray box called globe 2 decade.

Kacku 17th June 2016 05:48 PM

^ I'm sure Anytime smokin' cigarette has a new version for the new album. I'm actually surprised it's the only track on both Remode albums but then again, I hadn't realised that songs like DEPARTURES, Feel Like dance and Can't Stop Fallin' in Love. :laugh I wasn't really expecting another Remode album, so this is a nice surprise. Also surprising: seeing MUSIC TAKES ME HIGHER, GET WILD and SELF CONTROL in the tracklist. I hope it'll all be good.

And oh my god the blu-ray box, that price is cray-cray. I really want to hear the CD with recordings from KEIKO's solo tour and see some of the lives (special live -genesis of next-!!!), but I guess I'll never get to that. I hope the CD audio surfaces on the internet one day though...

Irish_Ayu_Fan 18th June 2016 01:23 AM

Was so excited at the prospect of the blu Ray box, but then I saw the price...54,000¥ is way too much :(

visionfactory 18th June 2016 02:41 AM

Omg, want to see how it looks like

mi|kshake 20th June 2016 11:14 PM

I notice TK & Marc are performing on a music show with Sayaka Kanda. I wonder if it's a song from Remode 2?

DreamMusicPark 22nd June 2016 03:13 PM

I hope it's Can't Stop Fallin' in Love. I've been addicted to globe recently.

mi|kshake 23rd June 2016 11:40 PM

My copy of Maniac arrived on Tuesday! Well chuffed!

mi|kshake 10th July 2016 11:14 PM

Really need to post my thoughts on Maniac soon! Currently obsessing over Humanrace!

mi|kshake 16th July 2016 12:57 PM

Quote:

I hope it's Can't Stop Fallin' in Love. I've been addicted to globe recently.
Yes, I love that song too! I totally relate to being addicted!

I notice on iTunes that they have the 15 Years Chronicle available to buy featuring three tracks which are They Fight Now, Single Walking and Self Control. I was wondering if these tracks featured on any of their studio albums?

If not, I think I will buy it but wanted to make sure I wasn't "spoiling" myself for any of their albums as I am currently working my way backwards through their discography.

I was chuffed to see Keiko's album available to buy on YesAsia! Added it to my "To Buy" list!

Kacku 17th July 2016 11:05 PM

^ Holy crap, I had no idea those songs were available on iTunes! I'm pretty sure they're not on any studio albums; as far as I know, they're unreleased tracks that were only released with the 15 YEARS CHRONICLE DVD set in 2011, well after any of their studio albums or best albums. I recommend getting them even if only to hear They Fight Now, I LOVE that song so much. :heart

Btw, while checking these details, I found out that there's a CM video for Remode 2!

Also, apparently another remix album has been announced for release on July 27th (so soon!). It's titled "deep JAZZ globe". Weirdly enough, there's no catalogue number listed for the album, and it says on the discography page that it's a limited distribution album with no further info on what this limited distribution actually is. Also, the previews don't really sound particularly jazzy to me, but what do I know. We'll see what comes of this release...

Also, looking forward to your thoughts on maniac, mi|kshake!

mi|kshake 18th July 2016 11:37 PM

^Thanks for your help!

Yeah, I only came across those tracks the other day. Avex do seem to update their artists pages every so often for older singles. Like they also had A Song Is Born with Keiko. (Also chuffed to find some Namie and Kumi singles iTunes had been missing)

In which case, despite trying not to spend too much cash, I think I will have to download these songs ASAP!

visionfactory 19th July 2016 02:29 AM

Remode 2 sounds good!!

mi|kshake 26th July 2016 08:29 PM

Finally my Maniac thoughts!

At first Disc 1 was my favourite and Disc 2 was just a bonus to me but now I love both!

Soldier, Please Don't Give Up, Why Why Tell Me Why & From The Beginning are all great tracks! I love the songs towards the end of Disc 1 too but gotta admit I do get some of them mixed up (I have too much music to listen to!) I think Shine On You and Simplove are my favourite from the second half of Disc 1.

Disc 2-wise I love hearing the band versions of Judgement and Lost but my favourite song has got to be Humanrace! Be True is also great.

I look forward to ordering my next Globe album which will be Level 4 (although it might be a while let as I'm not doing a CD order this month and have Hikki's new album to look forward to in September)

js_surrealism 27th July 2016 08:15 AM

Lights, Lights 2, Level 4 - to me these are my top 3 favourite globe albums ever. Tight and beautifully written + executed, start to finish.

yeah, I double that! Lights, Lights 2, Level 4 are pure masterpieces!
I consider these albums to be also their best. I would probably add globe 2pop/rock to that list, but this album is in quite different genre than rest of their discogprahy so I understand that not every fan likes it.

visionfactory 30th July 2016 04:00 AM

I wanna buy Remode 2 but the cover is pretty awful, it looks like a-nation compilation cover

Also the design for the new luxury box is pretty bad too :/

mi|kshake 1st August 2016 10:54 PM

Now I wanna buy Lights, Lights 2, Level 4 even more! As well as Keiko's album. Has anyone heard O-Crazy Luv?

I actually quite like the Remode 2 cover, given how simple it looks, I think it's the pink I like!

visionfactory 2nd August 2016 08:54 AM

I'll end eventually buying Remode 2 been listening to the digest on replay!!

Just will wait for Taiwan press

yeah, I did and I love her solo album. If you like globe2 pop/rock album, you will love this album too, I am pretty sure. It is basically the same genre.

ayu-michan 6th August 2016 08:39 AM

Wow I just listened to Remode 2's digest and it sounds so good! Kind of disappointing they put in a few classics, I was hoping more less known songs are included, but this is fine too. From the previews on YT and twitter they've been giving out, I like these remixes! They don't sound flat or empty like many trendy "edm" songs now. I also love the airy and floaty vibes of this album too (do you feel me).

And to bring the collab with Sayaka Kanda in June back, they actually sang Is this love. She doesn't have the same vibes as Keiko but to be honest, her cover was really enjoyable, I wouldn't mind her singing a few more globe songs. I was super glad they performed together because it's been a good long time since TK and Marc were on the same stage performing a globe song.

For anybody interested, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uHdbRNWsAS4

That link sounds pretty muffled, if anybody wants a clear HD clip then I'll upload the video I have, it was taken down but I saved it thank god.

visionfactory 10th August 2016 04:50 AM

"Remode 2" 1st week

Rank: #12
Sales: 3,973 copies sold

I still think it's weird that they put only 10 songs on the album

mi|kshake 11th August 2016 10:31 PM

^Yeah, because some of the songs were already remixed for Remode 1 weren't they? And between that and the Cover Best (which I love btw!), we're seeing a lot of the same songs.

Good to know! I love Reason and Humanrace so much so really looking forward to buying O-Crazy Luv.

I noticed that the PV for Faces Places has been released on Avex's channel. (Although I'm not really understanding it):

ayu-michan 12th August 2016 09:09 PM

Reason and Humanrace are some gems! The thing I love about globe is the beats, always so complex whether it be trance or not.

I actually don't understand why avex is releasing those PVs. I saw how it's like a "drama" with a plot in there, but honestly the PVs don't match the songs at all.

visionfactory 13th August 2016 03:03 AM
