Those sales of Ayu's GUILTY are better than I expected actually. :0 I thought it will sell less than Secret did on the first week, but it did much better, which is nice. :) #2 is good position, but I too like to see Ayu on #1. But it's not a end of the world for me if she doesn't get it. It's still good album, one of my favourities, and I never really cared about Secret, but I like it. I like GUILTY more. :> And #3 isn't too bad, I'd say, because if she wasn't in top10, then you should ask "What the heck is going on?".

Ayu's still a big star in Japan and who knows if she someday has a single, that will sell over 400,000 copies? I mean, Utada Hikaru for example sold really horribly with her ULTRA BLUE album singles in 2005-2006, and then Flavor of Life was released and it sold over 600,000 copies (and it's still charting, I think), and Beautiful World/Kiss & Cry sold over 200,000 copies. I believe Ayu might do the same someday. :) Besides, even if she doesn't, it doesn't matter. Ayu's still Queen of J-pop and always will be.

And about Koda Kumi, I think her singles last year sold much worse than the ones she released in 2006. But I'm surprised how long Black Cherry has been on charts (and I love it btw), that's amazing. :0 Utada Hikaru's ULTRA BLUE has been on charts for months, even after Ayu's (miss)understood stopped selling. :p

No, the sales of GUILTY are over the span of 2 weeks. Secret sold a little under 500k in its first two weeks.

No, it hasn't been out long at all. It seems long because here at AHS we've talked about little else for the past five days. The news actually broke on January 4th. It makes perfect sense. I give til the 5th or 6th until the press actually started making a huge deal about it. Monday, the day the jump to #1 was made, was the 7th. Timeline seems about right to me.

I have a feeling GUILTY might not get #1 this week....looking at the daily chart, it looks like GUILTY is decreasing in sales more than kobukuro. Ayu will have a chance if GUILTY somehow have a sales boost. If she ends up at #2 or #3, its still awesome =D I think the sales will be over 500k after this week...which is very good!

The first week didn't really count, though, did it? The Christmas release was just a special surprise for the fans, which is why GUILTY didn't appear on the weekly charts until this week. If the first week had counted, GUILTY would have debuted on the weekly charts last week.

On iTunes, "(don't) leave me alone" is #2 on the video charts, and GUILTY is #8. (Misia is actually beating her by 2 spots, and I don't even see Kobukuro on the charts.)

Didn't this happen before? Her and Utada released the same week, Utada got #1 the first week, and then Ayu got #1 the next? It would be really cool for Ayu to BEAT Kobukuro and get a #1...for at least one week, anyway. XD

Hey, Ayu should release A BALLADS 2 now that A BEST 2 was released last year. :D There should be more new songs with older ones. I'm sure people would buy it. Of course A BEST 2 -BLACK- was a lot like ballad album, but there was a lot of rock songs on it, and I'd like to listen to a new ballads collection because I loved A BALLADS so much. :3 Besides Ayu's ballads are better than anyone else's, or that's what I think. But A BALLADS 2 would be a great idea in my opinion.

a good friend of mine in japan told me just then that she was in a music store in downtown tokyo the other day and GUILTY was sold out. hope that's a good sign for a weekly number one.

it's quite scary to see Kobukuro & Ayumi's sales figures being so close together , it's like a neck to neck fight against each other .

I think everyone's scared of Kobukuro & if I'm correct they didn't really hit it big until 3 years ago with Koko ni Shika Sakanai Hana which was used as the theme song to the dorama Ruri no Shima .

With that said , I really do hope that Ayumi can climb back to the top with GUILTY . It's a great album & even though I have to admit Kobukuro produces great music , I would hate to see Ayumi kicking off her 10th year anniversary in the music business in a bad way but then again , not being no.1's not the end of the world , you can't forever be on top .

Well, A BEST 2 -WHITE- sold, like, 17% of A BEST. While I don't think if Ayumi would release A BALLADS 2 in February/March 2009, it would sell 160k, it still wouldn't be a massive success.

Well, techincally A BALLADS was a remix album that contain songs that were already featured on A BEST. I think we Ayumi retires or whatever, AVEX can make an A BALLADS II and lot more stuff that will still make Ayumi profittable after her singing days.

I find that weird as well actually. I believe there should be enough footage to make a full NEVER EVER pv (.. unless they just filmed that portion of the song). NEVER EVER is quite unique in ayu's discography (using high pitch voice throughout the whole rockish song :P). I adore this song a lot back then.
