i'm beginning to become doubtful about them responding at all

sugarbasil 17th March 2009 03:03 AM

I haven't gotten a response yet, either. I got an e-mail saying that they received my comment, but that they hadn't gotten to it yet. :irked. C'mon, Avex!!! Get on that!!!

It's the biggest record company in Japan, they probably have a lot of crap mail to go through from crazy fans accusing things. :P

ハート〜ブレーカ♥ 17th March 2009 03:34 AM

Keep in mind these things:
-Lyrics are vietnamese
- Instrumental isn't EXACTLY the same as Marionette
- Maybe he doesn't know Ayu but someone tried to scam him?

A-TeensFan 17th March 2009 06:11 AM

still waiting for respond from Avex..

I ********** hate this guy, in his latest interview he claimed that he didn't know anything. he got the song from some of his friend in manuscript!! god, if that was true, how could the arrangement was exactly the same?????

LacusClyne 17th March 2009 06:52 AM

^so the so-called' composer had been questioned that this song is a direct rip off from ayu?

asmAyumi1992 17th March 2009 07:33 AM

He should ashamed for what he did! Why there are too many ppl said that Ayu is copying them instead to say that they are using Ayu's stuff! WTF! He should mention Ayu's name in his album.

I'm very sorry for Ayu. REALLY sorry.....

so...now, he already know it?
there is an interview about this? on tv?

A-TeensFan 17th March 2009 10:33 AM

a newspaper did ask him about ripping off Ayu song, here's the link but it's in Vietnamese

http://kenh14.vn/20090313024438970_t...-hay-khong.chn

here's a brief translation

K14: People are saying that your song "Mua Thu Vang Em" is indeed a rip-off from Jpop- goddess Ayumi Hamasaki's hit song "Marionette". Did you hear about this?

CTS: Yes, i'm very shocked to hear that. My people are checking the information with the composer. If this is true, it's such an unlucky incident for me and it would be a lesson about checking a song's information before actually release it.

K14: So did you contact Nhu Hong?

CTS: yes, but unfortunately he's not available at the moment (?????) so i cannot give a official answer about this now.

K14: So how did you know Nhu Hong and how did you guiys work on the song?

CTS: Actually i have never met him (????). I get the song's manuscript through a friend. I really like the song and it really suits my voice so I recorded it. I never met him in person.

K14: Singer & composer usually discuss the song before recording, it helps singer understand the song better, why didn't you do that?

CTS: Nhu hong is a new & young composer. When i got the song, i felt it at once. I drew in my head the way the song should go. I had years in this industry, i'm pretty confidence in understanding the song through words & rhythm.

K14: But still, how can you explain that your song is exactly the same as Ayumi Hamasaki's one?

CTS: I won't give any further statement about this until i get an official answer from Nhu Hong. But in my opinion, this is just an unfortunate incident. Me & my happy have no fault in this. If there's some one to blame here, it's the composer.

K14: Let's be honest, is this a publicity stunt?

CTS: Well, nobody wants to be famous for scandals and so do I. I will try to solve this as fast as possible and I promise to give an official answer about this.

what a jerk. I remember on a live tv show said that this song was written specially for him by a very close friend and now he says he never met him in person?? wtf! Avex really should do something.

Andali 17th March 2009 10:48 AM

the arrangement is similar but different to Ayu's which is why there's a different composer, it's been recomposed. Ayu's is better, but there might be a credit somewhere on the single...

AyuGAME 17th March 2009 12:43 PM

A-TeensFan - thanks for the article and translation...so this news is kinda a big scandal now...let's see what gonna happen next

Defiro 17th March 2009 11:48 PM

let's see if i can bring this syncronized to Ayu's PV
this would be extremly funny xD

TeeMo 17th March 2009 11:52 PM

This is illegal and I think someone should report this thing to Avex.

octocoffee 18th March 2009 12:42 AM

LOL.

First of all, people are right in saying it is quite common in Vietnam to cover without credit. In Vietnamese culture, there really isn't any real set of standards when it comes to music or other sorts of media. Illegal copies of CDs and DVDs are sold a dime a dozen. So at least the guy won't really be making a lot of money out of this xD

While this incident should be reported, it probably isn't going to make much of a difference. People are probably just going to continue doing this. Scandals in Vietnam are more exciting than they are demeaning.

Oh, and it's just really funny to read the comments for the Cao Thai Son interview. People who support him feel like Ayu fans are making a big deal out of this, others say that Kazuhiro Hara's rights need to be protected, etc.

@A-TeensFan
I haven't seen that live interview, but when he said written, did he mean the lyrics were written especially for him, or the melody? Just wanted to clarify.

he said " a very close friend wrote this song specially for me" so i guess he means both!

AyUta 18th March 2009 06:11 AM

Huh...I don't know what to think. I believe he should have met with the composer first though, instead of just because "he's a new and young composer." Idk, it just doesn't work that way.

koumori 18th March 2009 09:16 AM

I filled in that form to Avex~

Every little helps. I hope they look at these. T-T;

Cao Thai Son should be ashamed >o<; You can sing as well as you want, but when you don't credit the original singer (Especially one with a huge and observant fanbase) it's just plain stupid..

Hachimitsu 18th March 2009 10:17 AM

Oh well, if it became a scandal, I think he's been punished enough.. It's not like he's going to earn respect by copying other musicians. He didn't get away with it.

MissElin_ 18th March 2009 11:06 AM

Thx for the article... If the singer really didnt know then I could feel pretty sad for him. But then. why wouldnt he know about Marionette?

Emperatriz Ayumi 18th March 2009 01:18 PM

Although it´s a very good cover, he has to credit Ayumi!:yes:yes:yes

g~sus~ 19th March 2009 05:46 AM

wow...his voice is really good..hehe :P
but i hope legal action will be taken..it's really rude to not even bother to credit the composer

tinka69 19th March 2009 06:49 AM

how can it be a good cover when it sounds exactly the same? it may as well be ayumi singing like a girly man.

perfectodub 19th March 2009 08:21 AM

i think the only person injured here is the real composer....maybe this is not the avex bussiness..is just a legal problem between author and thief.

xLuna&1LOVE 19th March 2009 08:52 AM

That was a weird cover xD

ayumixfan 19th March 2009 10:02 AM

lol ohh I guess people don't know this about vietnamese music... lol its pretty much a worthless industry ._. that is why they can get away with these stuff... the singer doesnt even get royalties for singing the song XD ~! its flat rate pay. They make their money from participating in Concerts. Even if avex sues him, it'll end up costing them more than earning probably LMAO. If he's from vietnam singing, then he would be rich compared to the rest of the vietnamese people (which isn't a big accomplishment bbecause the country is relatively poor and the currency is worthless) and if he's american born then he probably has another job because singing in the vietnamese industry = no money XP So yeah, I'd be surprisd if Avex did something XD!

A-TeensFan 19th March 2009 10:40 AM

OMG, look what i've found.

Thanh Thao (another Vnese singer just did a concert and here's one of the performance

and AYumi's Born To Be from Arena Tour 2006

http://siesuchen-wirfinden.de/ayu-ga...0105232007.jpg

god, to be Vietnamese, i'm so ashamed of these people@

Yeah I also agree unless he used ayu's lyrics too.

He or his company should have credit Mr. Kazuhiro Hara or even pay him. I don't get why other people claim others' work and why not strive and make their own original works.

thanks for the article.
About the interview, I'm kinda irritated. I know he really has a good voice but the music just sounds like a midi file or from a Karaoke machine.

I don't think avex has something to do with this. As perfectodub said, it's just between the thief and the original author.

We should have contact Mr. kazuhiro Hara not avex unless he's under avex or something.

I has searched and I couldn't find any email or homepage to contact Mr. Kazuhiro Hara. However, his composed a lot of songs for Avex artists. I wonder he is under Avex company, maybe...

http://www.scoop.co.jp/jp/compo/kazuhiro_hara.html

Aisha_Angel 19th March 2009 01:43 PM

WOAH...This is just terrible the way they left everything EXACTLY the same.

The only thing they did was clear up the background music.

But at least it's a good cover and now a sucky one...

octocoffee 20th March 2009 05:11 AM

@A-TeensFan
Ech, I don't like Thanh Thao...I really don't know why.

Oh, and I think someone said another Vietnamese singer covered Depend on You...anywhere I can find it? I'm just really curious.

And has there been any reply from avex, to anyone?

Ayu_no_tenshi 20th March 2009 06:59 AM

^nope...no reply yet

AyuTan 20th March 2009 07:23 AM

This really banks. I wish Avex and such would start knocking down these people who copy....

I just visit this site and yeah there's no way to contact Mr. Hara. But he composed so many great songs for great J-artist!!

dirtytoxic 23rd March 2009 04:41 AM

i think
avex is so riccccccccch! they wont waste time taking care of this.

Ayu_no_tenshi 25th March 2009 11:39 PM

i put it in my iTunes and relabeled it! LOL

M'uNG CHOO (chong mai Marionette reMIX) - Cao Thái Sơn

rakeru 26th March 2009 02:01 AM

as for the composer that the CD credits: is he real or just a name? if so, i suppose that means he's directly taking credit for another's work. w0w.

baoanhnguyen 26th March 2009 02:11 AM

ehhh vietnamese artist do stuff like this all the time! i went back in the summer and there was an entire JPOP cover album...HEAVEN was on it if i remember correctly. the music industry over depend on cover songs and whatnot x[

Larisa-chan 26th March 2009 04:41 AM

Hahaha, wow, the entire damn thing was ripped off... even the guitar parts!!!

Now, let's report Ayu for stealing Army of Lovers' song Crucified and made it into Pride and stealing Hoobastank's song and making it into Taskinst :D

Solarblade 26th March 2009 06:08 AM

Can't blame em, Marionette is that damn good of a song...I'm shocked American artists don't do this surprisingly lol...then again, there'd be so much scandal

blahh 27th March 2009 11:51 PM

I highly doubt that Avex would do anything, because there's really no point. The Vietnamese music industry is pratically worthless, even if Avex did sue them, they won't benefit much from it.

*sigh*

but gwad, shame shame shame on the singer and the so call composer! I hope they'll get some sort of punishment out of this.

Smart Computer 28th March 2009 03:15 AM

OMG, I totally missed this. I know him, he is a best friend of my cousin and he just went to my cousin's weeding like the last two weeks in Vietnam. I should talk to my cousin to tell him about this. He should credit ayu.

AyuRox 3rd May 2009 02:55 AM

I'm surprised that Avex hasn't done something yet. They're like copyright Nazis.

The vocals are good, but the instrumentation is really poor. Its MIDI quality, at best. And they didn't even have the originality to at least change it a little. And why not credit Ayu??? its rather unfair, don't ya think?

JackieRos 3rd May 2009 02:57 AM

imma write a letter to avex!!!!!!

edit

letter was written oh well

chloeM 3rd May 2009 04:20 PM

he sounded so confident on Nhu Hong~

Ayu_no_tenshi 3rd May 2009 04:54 PM

yeah...i never heard back from avex

Peruseusu 3rd May 2009 07:19 PM

WTH?????? I hope he gets sued very quickly! The vietnamese cover of depend on you was done quite badly (reminded at pink panther somehow....) and there they stated at least it was "nhac ngoai quoc" (original song from abroad) and now WTF???? *goes to listen to it later*

yu2blue09 3rd May 2009 08:25 PM

They should have credited ayu @.@
I don't care whether the vocal is good or not, at least show some respect to the original creator.
Same things happened with some of ayu's songs before, but it was then. They should work more professionally if they want to have a place in the market.

sailorseraphim 4th May 2009 07:11 AM

Ok, i have 3 things

1) this guy CANNOT sing

2) he didnt give any credit at all, so i hope Avex makes him burn in hell

3) he dint change anything, so its not original in any way, its almost boring

AyUta 4th May 2009 04:53 PM

I don't think anything is gonna be done guys @_@ As much as I hate to say it...

SheFliesHigher 4th May 2009 09:40 PM

This thread is a lolfest. =D The singer might be telling the truth when he says he had no idea the song was done by Ayu. His situation sounds pretty plausible to me. I mean, it's hard to do a "background check" on every music track a composer gives to you.

SolarAngel 5th May 2009 04:57 PM

This is quite funny, i hope avex and ayu get the royalties they deserve. I'm dumbfounded at how this can go unnoticed by the relevant authorities.

Alther 6th May 2009 07:03 PM

LOL that's song in not Marionette is Plagionnete XDD

Yeah, Nhu Hong would be a two-character name if translated into characters anyway...

You know, I'd at least have a weeee bit of respect for the guy if he chose a different arrangement, something fresh, ANYTHING but a poor, weak rip-off of the EXACT original arrangement. That's just pathetic. Kind of a shame too, because he has a nice voice. :no

Oh, american artists like to do that as well, I remember Timbaland ripping of some C64 music for an Nelly Furtado song...(poor C64 musicians, seriously, they do music for like no money and that ashole doesnt even offer them any money, they would have probably given it for less than 500 dollars or something)

"C64"? I thought it was Tempest. (I know it's wiki but there's a lot of info about it).

At any rate, I think it would be too risky for a western musician to rip off a mainstream Japanese one. The Japanese music industry is a bit too big. I can see it happening with a smaller, less-known music industry though, both the ripping-off and the being-ripped off...easier to get away with it.
