“Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence - FYI” was originally titled “FYI,” but due to copyright clearance issues, they were asked to place the “Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence” portion into the title.
The initial instrumental demo that Utada chose for “Come Back To Me” was a much more uptempo track. She sent the song back to Stargate with her vocals and other sounds added, and when it came back they had changed the track into a piano driven ballad. Utada said she enjoyed that sort of collaborative back-and-forth. Utada mentions that “This Is The One” will be released in Europe around the same time as the US physical release (May 12th). Utada is still in the process of recording her next Japanese single. She's been working on this Single for some time now. With all that she's doing in America, it could all just mean she's writing a little bit here and a little bit there. I just hope her next song has some strong vocals like the ones in the background of the Choruses in "Passion". Except this time in the forefront.
I've been watching some old live performances of Utadas', such as "Passion" and "Beautiful World" and it was a nice reminder of how good Utada can sound Live. Not that I forgot. People actually mistaking Live performances for Lip Syncing. I love when that happens. |

Utaban is the better of the two. She doesn't strain so much when singing "hohou wo tsutau" like in CDTV.

I think this is what we can expect from her for live performances for now on. At least she always hits the right notes, and is always on key. and OMG this is a long ass performance...the utaban one. The second one is better in terms of like...how she holds each note. Flows better. But she misses some stuff. why are both of these 4 minutes long for being on tv...isn't that like really long? Do these shows always do that? lol |
