It's weird, Japan (and this forum xD) loves all the things I dislike and the other way round, it was her weakest CDL since CDL0405 for me xD, not a bad CDL, not at all, but not on the level of her others xD but thats maybe just because the tracklist, some costumes, the pink theme and all the miming annoyes me, less songs would have been actually good for the concert IMO

But great that its selling good, either way^^

The pink theme is something she does like, all the time.

And the miming? Other than the one thing, what miming?

I'll be very pleased if PCDL can sell within 5 figures for the 2nd week.

pink: I'm okay with the pink theme for a few songs, but it annoyed me that all the stage was pink and several costumes were(3 i think)

about the miming, its not proven by her forgetting the lines or something, but i, and some other people, think that around 50% of the concert are lipsynch, because basically in every headmic performance there are no mic-sounds, and you cant perform with a headmic without having micsounds and her mouth movements in some songs are VERY weird(HONEY doesnt even LOOK live)
sure, she sings some songs playback in every concert and im okay with that, but PCDL just was too much IMO, i dont want her to turn in a second britney spears(but shes gotten way better with AT09 it seems, only 2 songs are discussed yet, around this time last year 4 or 5 songs of AT08 were discussed to be playback and it turned out to be around that number if you say t2m and Marionette definitly are synched and (d)lma, decision and mnW could be synched,please dont start a playback discussion here now, im only stating my opinion and im okay if other people think that the stated performances are live, i myself think that decision and mnW were live as well)

I just watched my TV version of PCDL and I feel as though ANGEL'S SONG was lipsynched on purpose HAHA. I dunno, like she's making fun of herself or something for the first half.

Honestly on some of those songs, does it SOUND like she's lip-syncing? Lol if she is lip-syncing she needs to record better tracks or get her money back. Not the best live artist out there haha...but still my favorite!

Anyway I'm glad the DVD is selling well.

That's the thing. It's sorta weird how the vocals we hear are so NOT AMAZING that.. uh. yeah... people don't usually lipsynch to bad vocal tracks.. usually when that's the case, they're actually singing, hahahahaha.

somehow her CDLs are getting more interesting

her tracks to lipsynch on never were really impressive, her AT02 playback of evolution was really bad actually and i think the reason the PCDL songs were even worse is because she probably recorded them AFTER she fell and was out of hospital, there wasnt much time to record them(which probably was the reason to lipsynch) and you cant tell me GREEN sounds bad^^ The songs sound playback because theres no mic-noises, not because they are amazingly good and they look playback because she is not good as lipsynching and her mouth does weird things^^(often it openes too much or not enough to get such a note or its off timing and thats not because the file in general was off, you can even see her mouth being not perfectly on timing in the later tv version and the dvd version)
but seriously, please dont make this into another discussion, id like to stop here, im okay with everybody who thinks she sang live mostly, this is just my opinion and i dont buy it because i think so and i would always think "oh, its playback anyway" when i watch it, thast would suck so much, just like watching A Museum xD

^Did you watch the live TV version or the DVD? Because the DVD has heavily edited performances, especially GREEN. The live TV version did not sound as good.

it's pointless to argue with noidea when it comes to lip syncing as almost everything is lip synced to him (no offense) :) GREEN sounds the same as in TV ver. However the mouth timing in TV versions isn't a valid argument as it simply could be that it's off sync with the sound - possible reasons: bad TV signal or a mess up during compression.

^ first things first: yes, it IS pointless, when I know something is definitly not live I don't let anyone tell me that it's live, thats why I worte that I don't want to discuss it o.0 but you're wrong with the "almost everything" that only applies to PCDL and A Museum, its between 1/5 and 1/3 in her other concerts

her mouth is still off in the DVD version BTW, just watched it, but it's not that bad in GREEN, GREEN actually looks pretty live on DVD except a few lines, its bad in songs like HONEY or vogue, basically the fast paced ones, and light and instruments were perfectly in synch in the tv version I have, so why should only her mouth be off? xD
and the fact that some songs are nearly unedited means quite much...because they never edit her playbacks much afterwards but always edit her other songs, even if they sounded amazing in TV version already

And it sucks how they use footage of different days AGAIN, they did it in every 2008 concert, right?

Watching the DVD version, it looks like they filmed it like the ARENA TOUR with a ton of HD cameras rather than the standard definition ones they usually use! Awesome.

all her concerts are recorded mostly with HD cameras, many concerts are recorded only with HD cameras, theres nothing special about it, we have HD recordings of many of her countdowns, CDL0506 was filmed completely in HD already, same goes for 0607,0708 and 0809(dont know about 0405) and we have a HD file of cdl0304 as well(but i havent watched it, so i dont know if its HD or a mixture between normal resolution and HD)

You can't tell the difference between her CDLs and PCDL?

There's a huge difference in the way things are picked up.. the nuances of the lighting are picked up better in the PCDL/ATs. If not the HD cameras, then something changed just specially for PCDL.

How do you know that they use HD cameras for the CDLs? I don't believe that they usually do that, since they make such a big deal about ~high definition cameras x 43~ when they do it for the ATs.

I think they use a different frame rate or something, so it looks more cinematic as opposed to.. uh.. whatever isn't cinematic, haha.

Its possible that they are recording in higher quality(the colors look better to me as well, especially GREEN/WILL, the colors are amazing!)

@truehappiness: I think so too. The picture semmed to be much clearer, and not so 'concert like', if that makes sense. Her ATs are like this too. More like a movie.

I also noticed that... not only the quality of the image but also the way they record from diferents angles, the lights were impresive as if it were an AT, i have all CDL DVD's and any of the previous has all this perfection in all details... so many costumes, coreographies, all the changes of stage, the lighs (this was the first I noticed) and finnaly, as truehappines says, the way they edited the concert is so cimatographic, I love how everything is put together!

Does that make sense? Do you mean the TV recorded ones? I think they use different camera footage for the DVDs usually.

the second tv broadcast of CDL0607 used the DVD version in HD, Im watching No Way to Say from the second broadcast ATM and it has the same angles the DVD has(and the already edited audio), but its 1440x1080 with perfectly sharp image

i think the tv versions use the same cameras, less cameras, yeah, sure, there are some new angles in every dvd, but they use the same cameras because i see the same camera angles sometimes, they are just newly cut

I think the cameras are on different settings depending on the show then.

I never said that the CDLs were never in HD, but the camera settings used were quite different for PCDL, is all.

Around that time, i was telling a friend how ayu had hurt her hand and might scrap the countdown concert and she was like "impossible. It's ayumi. She will never do something like that" and she's right. I have a feeling ayu will appear in a wheelchair and someone to hold her mike if she had to, she's that dedicated.

Her only 100k+ DVDs I recall are like DOME TOUR 2001 and A MUSEUM [or at least A MUSEUM got really close].

Next is like maybe COMPLETE LIVE BOX with 70k-80k or so?

Actually AT2006 sold 100,302 copies. A MUSEUM 101,294 copies and Dome Tour 2001 is over 130k.

AT06 sold slightly less on Oricon though..

Perhaps AT05 also went above 100k then?

What about the concert tours 2000 DVDs?

I think AT05 sold above 80k. I remember seeing those figures somewhere, wikipedia probably before they were removed. I've never been able to find sales figures for those 2000DVDs but ayu had the no.1 spot for 1st 2000 concert tour DVD along with SURREAL single and Duty album, so sales couldn't have been shabby.

finding the sales of the tours of 2000 is very difficult, but I believe the first concert tour sold over 150k making it her best selling DVD, but i don't remember the sourse and I don't think we should trust it :P

that would make 4 concerts DVDs over 100k (dome,a museum,(miss)understood tour)

^I seriously doubt it. If that were the case, there would have been more information on it and it was not a good concert, at least IMO. I would never buy it for 6,000yen (although i bought the re-released version which was less than half that price).
