^ I agree, but often times unless you are very close to the stage you end up watching the screens a good amount of the time anyways unfortunately. But I don't know if your explanation actually explains why she does it. She certainly didn't always do it and people have known about stage visibility for a long time. :) I just think she has gotten more and more over dramatic over the years and somehow got it into her head that it actually looks good (same thing holds true for many of her recent photo shoots and music videos actually, aka mainly the kazuyoshi ones^_^). She's done it in a number of TV lives now too and obviously that is for people to watch on their tv screens, not to be seen on a stage from an audience member far away.

Note: Yo-chans guitar solos sometimes are hard as hell and still executed nearly perfect often, so..NO BASHING! xD

Every single Mirrocle World performance for example. Her "fierce" faces were painful to watch, especially at the beginning.

^ I didn't think MW was that dramatic, if anything Days was a bit, but as it was already said her TV perfs are drama free.

i prefer her to sing MW with dramatic faces...i think its really match up with the song...the song itself is really fierce..do you want her to sing it like her poker face perfomance on hey!hey!hey! back in 1998?...the answer is NO!

same here. i always thought it fit the song, which is why i like the PV too. it's not like that one Moments performance where it looks so ridiculous and it doesn't fit.

Yes I remember being taken aback by her "fierce" expressions during those performances. Closest I could describe it would be Apollo Creed's "eye of the tiger" explanation to Balboa.

However, it was a change that I welcomed, at least she showed emotion, sometimes overdone but giving the impression that she was fired up for the performance, done in front of a live audience.

Take a number, the list of claimants to that are long and distinguished, not to mention endless.

Hendrix, Clapton, Blackmore, Page, Fripp, Slash, Van Halen, Malmsteen, Schenker, The Edge, Beck, Ritenour, Frampton, Gilmore, Young and many more.

Of course not, but her faces in Kohaku for example at the beginning were just laughable.

This year's a-nation seems dull for me overall.
-They should've put Infinity instead of Be your wings for GIRL NEXT DOOR
-DAI doesn't impress me that much with Saigo no GAME
-Ai Otsuka looked very tired and low in spirits (unlike the usual bright and cheerful her, it looks like avex had suck her emotions and strength).
-Kuu's Lick me and ECSTASY is hot but not as hot as usual. Her curly extension just knocked me off
-And why should they choose DBSK's middle show? they looked tired and all sweaty :P

Ayu's performance is great as always and I was surprised that she could handle those TO BE high notes. Is it only me or her voice changed a bit? I recall last year's a-nation and ASIA TOUR her voice is better, it's a bit hard for her to sing BLUE BIRD (she started so low). Though the closing songs are good as usual. :yes

I must admit I don't really enjoy TO BE + Shu-ya's Dramatic Dance. I guess the dance and TO BE doesn't have much chemistry unlike fated.

And I reaaaaaaaally like the high audience when Ayu sang Sunrise, they should sing together more! It would be soooooo high.

I don't like how TO BE outfit is pink, it's really beautiful from the shape, but it would look better white.

erm..it IS a screenshot...of the .ts for TO BE performance, I just downloaded it yesterday off share, but it's the only performance available in .ts yet, the rest of a-nation only is online in 1920x1080 mpg.

i don't know yet, i haven't watched it. i just don't have time. i'll watch bits here and there on youtube or something.

So I FINALLY got around to watching Ayu's a-nation performance and OMG WOW. It was super fantastic! She sounded great! Totally amazing! Before long I found myself singing and dancing along and totally imagining myself there! :laugh I was so happy for her. :) I really liked her costumes too; she was beautiful!

generally, it has been a great A-Nation in the complex.
Ayu performed many songs this time and her performance quality was very high.

Every performances from her are interesting for me to watch!

RULE is a breathtaking opening performance!OMG! love it so much and the shows continue with A Song For XX like last year an energetic performance of Ayu.Then she makes the audience calme with the breezy and soothing opening of BLUE BIRD.LOve very the choreography,Ayu's doing a good job and the hand movement like a bird in the end of the song.<3333

Sunset i love the song,a beautiful ballad and lyric and yea not to forgot the blue dress that Ayu wore,is soooo lovely ^ ^

BUT here's the part that i HATE not cos of Ayu but of cos SHU-YA, damn this dude had ruined Ayu's performance.I like watching Ayu put all of her emotion in TO BE's song,feel like i'm in the song too! but when SHU-YA came out,with his OVER emotional face and that stupid movement,i dun like it.

for BOYS and GIRLS it's enjoyable as usual,here come SUNRISE ,<333 Ayu manage to create such a singer-fans relation with the towel LOL "minasama towel jinbiwa iidesuka"
love that.And not to forget Yo-chan little dance,soo cute!

Finally JULY 1st,always love this as ending song,and Ayu's 5 times "Arigatao Gozaimashita" =))

I'm not to crazy for a-nation. Other than her 2006 performance of ASFXX, I honestly can't think of any performance that I was really crazy about.

With that being said, I haven't seen a-nation '09, but I'm sure she's did well. Oh yeah and the costumes are pretty.

^ really? she did so much better for A Song for XX in 2008, IMO that was her best performance ever.(A song for XX at a-nation '09 though was really big crap) And there have been some that at least vocally were great, like HANABI and is this LOVE? in 2005
