"As for her singing, she told The New York Times she does not lip-sync, but one of her managers told the Times her vocals are a mix of recorded and real-time sounds."

She's a cheater.. and.. "she pretends to masturbate for something like three minutes"... read this: http://www.reviewjournal.com/lvrj_ho.../23382830.html

sxesven 30th July 2004 09:29 PM

I'm too lazy to click that link, but I'm sure that's about the song 'The Touch Of My Hand', which is, imo, a pretty funny song, and a bad one, too.

I love the manager's statement though. Brilliant.

BanFan 1st August 2004 09:15 PM

No...I hate her "music" too... :rolleyes

I love that song. :D Britney's a good entertainer.

Kazuko 18th August 2004 07:53 AM

i don't like her... she puts out a terrible image to younger age children... and to me.. she's just disgusting.

Ibitsu Kokoro 20th August 2004 06:48 AM

yep. disgusting.

Hok 20th August 2004 06:52 AM

Do I like...

...her songs? Some, but few.
...her attitude and style and whatever she is doing for the past couple years? No.

kenkamken 29th August 2004 01:38 AM

nah...not really...she proclaims that boa copy'd her...thats not cool, just because boa thinks shes a cool artist, she (B.spears) doesnt have to be paranoid, and flipp out everytime boa prefourms. if she(boa) lived and know english fluintly she'd probly not like her at all...idk.. (No affence to Spears fans)

LEOyumi 1st September 2004 11:09 PM

Her songs are so... Deep.
Ohhhh baby baby baby!!! OMG this is sooo intense... *cries*

J/k. I don't like her but there are some nice songs. Don't Hang Up, Lucky, Don't Let Me Be The Last To Know, Everytime. And Baby One More Time is not bad too.

007_kenshin 2nd September 2004 05:17 PM

She's... alright
Not so much of a fan of her voice (Can't sing live that well, lip syncing :P)
Or her looks (Too muscular, nee? :P:P)

Sometimes her songs are pretty good, just not to the point of listening to it like for a while...

Well, IMO... she is alright

Cyria 3rd September 2004 10:25 AM

I hadn't really paid attention to Britney. Some songs were OK but I wouldn't have bought any of her singles or albums. Then, this summer, she just crashed and I started reading about her because I couldn't believe any star could be so trashy.

I won't judge a singer if they make a mistake, and if their music's good I'll buy it even if they say or do something stupid. But Britney's become just unbelievable. She starts dating Cletus the Slack-Jawed Yokel who ditches his pregnant girlfriend, already the mother of one of his children, to be with her money. Then she flaunts this in People. "I'm sorry you don't have what I have". Yes, Brit, I'm sorry I don't have a trashy cheating leech clinging to me. Her first Vegas wedding is dismissed as "a total ugh". What a role model she makes for her young fans.

She cancels her tour because of a "knee injury" and spends her time posing for paparazzi with Cletus and doing all kinds of things that would be impossible if she really was injured. Months later, she is still using the knee excuse to not make an appearance in her charity camp event.

Britney's not even a professional. Some years ago you could at least say that she tried to dance and perform entertaining pop. Now she just doesn't bother and her music's not good enough for me to try ignoring her classless behaviour. I feel sorry for her fans because she obviously doesn't care about her career anymore. It's all Cletus and shopping. The girl is empty.

If anyone tries calling Ayu the Japanese Britney when I'm around they're sure to hear a long speech about why this is so wrong. There is such a big difference between Ayu and Britney, or BoA and Britney.

Infinite Dreamer 4th September 2004 08:01 AM

*ahem* how I feel about this girl...can only be described after I saw this performance of britney performing in seoul back to back with BoA on this talk show.

First of all, britney wore this black skimpy ensemble (her usual attire) and her make-up looked awful!! She normally gives me an icky feeling normally but since she stayed in the same attire throughout the WHOLE show, it just bugged me. ESPECIALLY since BoA was able to use the same amount of time for three costume changes! Plus, she lipsynced and just seemed overall dense! oh britney, what would you like for christmas? "I would just like a lot of pretty clothes!!" Excuse while I go take a trip to the bathroom to gag for six hours!

Rainmaker 4th September 2004 08:09 AM

What? Insanity!
I love Britney. Songs like "Baby One More Time" and "I'm A Slave 4U" are deep and meaningful. They reflect perfectly on the cultre of America and really deliver a powerful message to the youth of our generation. I know I'd sure as hell want my daugher to be just like Britney.

Yyyyyeah. I didn't used to give a rat's ass about her until she entered this downward spiral she seems to be in presently. Now, much like a car wreck, I just can't look away.

Infinite Dreamer 7th September 2004 06:56 AM

The mother of all evils!!!

shinji1698 16th September 2004 01:19 PM

my prerogative ROCKS

LastMuskeeter#3 16th September 2004 03:04 PM

i only like that one song when she was drowning herself...and thats about it she's too popish for me... it makes me choke... i really don't like that image she puts out whether it be the popish one or the $lutty one they both annoy me and about her smoking she just crosses the line now... so she can get mobbed by millions of rabid squirrels for all i care... but hey wut do i know its just my opinion

sugoiguywithhair 18th September 2004 06:05 AM

You can take a girl outta her trashy trailer, but you can't take the trashy trailer outta the girl.

Touching how you emphasize on that with all those smilies and random symbols, it sure adds.

However, I find it kind of offending to say you'd like to kill her. And I'm not even a fan.

Nope. Funny how I listen to only a few of my own country's pop singers :rolleyes

bondingo 28th October 2007 11:54 PM

I don't love what she's become as a person. She used to be very psychologically stable and easily seemed to be one of the kindest pop stars out there. Now, she's a little better than she was in her "wreck", but still really odd.

As for her music, I have always loved it and I still do. Blackout is fantastic, even if there probably won't be ANY promotion for it. The Gimme More video was just nightmarish. Britney should strive to release videos like those on Paris' album :D

..:Hot:Like:Wow:.. 29th October 2007 10:57 AM

No, not really... I never liked her as a person to begin with, she always struck me as being fake since the beginning.

alt.total-loser 30th October 2007 07:13 AM

Ehh... no.

Weslicious 30th October 2007 08:08 PM

Oh My God, That Britney's Shameless.

Eternally 31st October 2007 09:10 PM

I used to like her alot when she first debuted. Then I started hating her like 2 years later after that. But then I got over it and don't really care about her anymore. She's really been meh.

lfe. 14th February 2008 03:57 AM

she had some nice catchy songs and i was in middle school at the time so they were fun to listen to once in a while. i thought she was pretty when she first debuted but then she went hollywood and over the first few years she was famous she got progressively uglier. nowadays her music is terrible and i dont really care much for her no matter what she pops up in the news for these days

spookshow 16th February 2008 08:17 AM

yes i'm a britney fan -- can't help but feel sorry for her.

JaysenRyan 17th February 2008 05:24 AM

I like her music. I miss her performances. I wish her well. But i do not like HER at this very moment. She needs help, that much is sure, but she is not letting herself get better. She needs to just get medicated, detoxed, and spend a year on some tropical island with her family where nobody is allowed but her and her family.

aqua_crystal 16th June 2008 12:40 PM

She's bold. Haha.

TITANIC 16th June 2008 12:49 PM

I will ALWAYS have love for Brit Brit.

cosmeticmusic 26th June 2008 02:04 AM

I'm ashamed to admit it- I love Britney! But her new album isn't the best. Her best was probably Britney...

~I'm A Slave 4 U~

CHE.R.RY 26th June 2008 02:08 AM

I liked her when I was like 8. I lost interest in her at 9 years old and never looked back :P.

Weeell, I take that back actually. I bought an album of hers a few years ago, but it was awful to me.
However, I'm not without compassion for Britney. I hope everything works out for her eventually.

ville 26th June 2008 07:26 PM

Shes okay... :>
I dont like her old songs but blackout songs are catchy :)

dddaiyamondo 26th June 2008 09:17 PM

I sang "Baby, One More Time" the other day at karaoke... I forgot how amazing her songs were!

xLuna&1LOVE 28th June 2008 07:30 PM

Yes, I like her!

Unfortunately she made very much mess last time! But 'BLACKOUT' was a very great come back!

Aggar 29th June 2008 11:22 PM

Yes, I like her. I like her song Everytime and Piece of me.

~Matt~ 30th June 2008 03:45 AM

apple-pi 30th June 2008 03:57 AM

Not really.

ayuzlove 30th June 2008 04:21 AM

hmmm...not really...her music style dun really suit me

Lanz16 30th June 2008 06:46 PM

Im a Britney-FanBoy before.
I listen to her music and watching her shows.

But when she release her In The Zone album, I started to hate her because of very shocking image-change: from wholsome and cutesy into wild and too sexy.

cosmeticmusic 1st July 2008 04:36 PM

Yeah, but can you blame her? Bubblegum innocence doesn't sell records forever, you know. And her change was gradual. We all knew it would only be a matter of time...she had always used a sexy image in her music - have you seen the ...Baby One More Time music video?
...In The Zone rocks...

evolution7931 2nd July 2008 05:10 AM

Know what? When this poll came out in 2003 I would have definitely voted that I HATED her. But in mid 2007 I started actually LISTENING to her music, like her album music instead of just her singles, and I didn't mind them at all. The way the media portrays her made me mad and then when I started seeing videos of her getting mobbed by paparazzi all the time I felt like I wanted to stick up for her, it wasn't fair to her.. Then when Blackout came out I officially became a true Britney fan because that album is her best EVER imo it is so much more mature than her previous music.

So yes I like her :)

tinka69 14th July 2008 09:00 AM

meh.
I like Toxic.
But I'm not a fan of her other songs or her looks for that matter.

lovelism 14th July 2008 10:53 AM

chloeM 4th April 2009 06:40 AM

noidea 5th April 2009 07:46 PM

I hate her...theres 3 things that need to be positive for me to like an artist:
Do I like the music overall?
Do I like the lyrics?
Do I like the live performances?

I only like 1 song(TOXIC) her lyrics are horrible and she doesnt sing live....

ayumixfan 7th April 2009 07:25 AM

OMG how can so many people hate britney D: ~! She's SO GODLY. For shame D: ~ ! I use to not care about her too but have can u hate BLACKOUT and CIRCUS <3333 OMG x_X or even her classics! ahh spazz dies. OMG XD

StarSUCKER 17th April 2009 10:31 AM

No no no no and no. I'm surprised to see so many negative votes, actually. I totally cannot stand her. I like the style of the hard electronic stuff she's put out recently, but her voice and especially LYRICS just KILL it for me. I can't do it...

HangPHAMee 17th April 2009 10:42 PM

I absolutely love her, she is so fierce!

Kingdom 18th April 2009 07:03 AM

i like her and her music.

ayu_ayu301 18th April 2009 01:01 PM

her music is amazing and i think as a person she is truly amazing and can put on the best show as well

ayuky 18th April 2009 02:37 PM

Britney is good, but ayu is way better :3

waterballoon 18th April 2009 03:36 PM

I think she really likes singing actually, so it's not like she's doing it 100% for the $$$.

I really like her songs, I was a Britney fanatic back in 04 lol... she's still great, and I still listen to her.

evolution7931 18th April 2009 06:05 PM

Probably, but that dosen't necessarily make her a better artist, now, does it? ;-)

Anyhow, I used to like her, when I was around 7 or 8 years old, but I completely lost interest after I turned 12. Her recent releases have caught my intention, though, I have to admit. Lyrical, I think she is at her best ever, right now. Nothing weird about that, probably, she has had a lot of things going on in her life recently. Though I can't say I love her, I support her comeback, and I am really happy to see that she has pulled herself together. I sincerely wish her the best of luck. :-)

for people judging concerts on visuals AND voice, any ayu concert is better because ayu doesnt need a loud backing track all the way through(where you cant hear the live singing anymore, only a little of the breathing xD) and the 3 songs i saw on youtube from it were boring like hell, if she cant sing, she should at least dance good, she looks very, very clumsy while trying to dance(id say ayu level or even worse)
also, britneys tour has a way higher budget, so you cant compare the visuals because more money = better visuals(usually)

LOL. :D True that. I used to really be into Britney last year but now, she doesn't really hold my interest as much. :no
I don't think her lyrics are the best, but at the moment, her music producers are doing a really good job. She needs better song writers, is all.

noidea 25th April 2009 08:09 PM

Thats really true, her songs itself sometimes appeal to me, but that doesnt make britney a good artist, it makes her composers ok to good(though most music sounds like just every song in the charts, its songs you remember all the time)

I didn't mean all of her lyrics, but some of them. And yes, I still think her recent lyrics are the best, so far. But it's not exactly hard to beat her old songs, though. :-P

I think to measure lyrics, you should look at the WORST lyrics, that would be WOMANIZER against...maybe Sparkle? And I think Sparkle would be WAY better xDDDDD So in the lyrical point, we can be quite sure Ayu is better xD(I don't think lyrics are subjective...music is, but lyrics not)

rookies 26th April 2009 08:12 AM

Yup, I like/love Britney Spears.

Although I have lost a considerable interest in her after I crossed over to listening to Japanese music.

But I still like her music, cus I listened to it a lot during my high school years. :)

I would never measure Ayu's lyrics agains Britney's! Lyrical, I don't like "Sparkle", indeed, but it is definitively better than "Womanizer". Ayu is a much, much better writer that Briteny. I'm not sure if Briteny even writes her own lyrics?

I would disagree. Both music and lyrics are subjective. Wether or not you like a certain song really depends on what you personally think is important, which would indeed make lyrics subjective. For some people, "Womanizer" can actually be seen as a very serious/important song. I would never have listened to Ayu's music if I could not relate to it, or if I did not think that what she sings about is important. That's why I don't like "Sparkle", because the lyrics don't mean anything to me. :-)

TeeMo 27th April 2009 11:19 PM

I started lovin' her songs, but I don't like her style now... Her style back then 1999-2000 is the best.

Hey at least it's not the same stuff about birds and wings regurgitated over and over :) #1 in 17 countries, gotta be doing something right.

Same goes for the tour. Ayu has had the same tour setup since 2005. Same stuff over & over. Love her though. But it gets boring.

saying womanizer half the song sure is better than using a meaningful comparison several times xD And chart positions mean nothing, the biggest crap can become one if it gets promoted well :rolleyes And Britney is very well promoted, especially with all the scandals in 2007 and 2008, they are still working for her sales. Some people judge music or art on its meaning and dont even listen to meaningless music, thats the minority, the others dont really mind music and listen to everything thats catchy, no matter what it is(Britney fans, but many ayu fans as well and from many other artists, basically every top 20 artist has tons of them)

Tour setup doesnt really matter for me, first thing that matters is the sounds, its a concert after all, then of course, theres the liveness coming with it, lets see...Ayu around 70% live, Britney something around 0,1%? Her show has to be PV-level to satisfy me that way plus the 2009 setup of ayus tour is completely different and theres something about Britneys tours that is boring, really boring, it doesnt have any feeling and/or meaning to me at all, its just...high budget used in a bad way

About the dancing issue:
Britney is a dancer pretending to sing when shes in concert, so she has to dance on a way higher level than ayu, but she doesnt, sure, she dances better than ayu, but not that much better, but she should, shes performer in dancer direction and ayu is performer somewhere between singer and allrounder, so Britney should be superb to ayu, but isnt, britney is nothing compared to her dancers, she should be on the same level though

Brit's sales went DOWN with the scandals, Blackout was her only album to not debut at #1 and the only one that didn't reach Platinum in the USA. Then the scandals stopped and Circus topped the charts. The album had very, VERY minimal promotion.. she only did 3 performances in Europe, 1 in the USA and 2 in Japan.. yet it topped the charts in 17 countries..

People who only judge music based on it's "meaning" are usually social rejects who have no life :) meaning's good every now and again but ppl who sit down thinkin about their feelings 24/7 are uncool

Brit does all the same dance breaks in her tour as her dancers and keeps up with them.. I know because I saw the whole thing

BOW TO THE QUEEN B

OMG LOL I'm sorry but Ayu does not sound that great live now. Honestly, I'd rather she just lipsync more of it if it makes her concerts sound better. I think this is a matter of opinion though. A lot of people prefer if the singer sings the songs live because they paid money to see the singer sing, but others prefer just to have a good time and watch an entertaining performance. If you are someone who prefers someone who sings live than thats ok, but i think a lot of people would also choose the 2nd option. If you are looking at the point of view of entertainment then I think britney blows ayu out of the water. I mean she had CIRCUS tricks, she has better dance moves, and her music is catchier and easier to dance to. And I think Ayu's tour doesn't change all that much over the years. Her live tracklist is very repititive and she does similar move over and over. Of course this is just an opinion but to me, Ayu's tours now are a big waste of money because I feel she's just reusing ideas over and over, but change the costumes or something minor. So yeah Tours are very debatable. It depends what the crowd wants and both artist delivers what they need to deliver and I think thas perfectly fine.

AS for music. I love how people says ayu's music has MEANING to it. You know music isn't just about lyrics. If it was we might as well just categorize it under poetry. THere's a reason why they are seperate :P Sure lyrics do help with a song, but I think if a song can be liked without lyrics, it means A LOT more than if you like a song Just because it has lyrical meaning. Classical music is a great example of this. are you going to say classical music is bad because it has no meaning. It is just instruments playing. These songs just capture people's attention. Maybe some songs can be interepted for something, maybe not. There's nothing about LOVE or Friendship in many famous classical songs, but they are still famous : ). Music is about preference to the melodies of the composition. Sometimes people even measure it by the creativity of using harmony, melody and rhythm together. Thats why it is a subjective matter. I don't want to sound rude, but people like you are the ones that are ignorant about music v_v. You should be labelling a song bad because it doesn't entertain you, it doesn't capture your attention or it doesn't flow with your groove. If you like a song, but you don't listen to it because the lyrics aren't deep enough for you then this is your own loss. Seriously. Even in physics music is labelled as a rhythm or repeated pattern of wavelengths while noise is random wavelengths. (I cant explain it too well haha) Lyrics are only one aspect of music.

^ haha altho I agree with most of your post evolution, lets not insult people who like to find lyrics with meanings lol. I'm sure they're not all social rejects. =) But I agree with you, I love how britney's break down is a promotional item but when you bring up ayu's deafness incident its a whole different story. i mean seriously. lets not make exceptions for artists we like. Its not a different story jsut because Ayu is involved. unfortunate accidents happen and seriously, I think britney would rather sacrifice some of her sales and not have that break down. Anyways as evolution said, her sales suffered because of the incident rather than boomed back up.

haha A lot of that is my opinion though I have to admit, but I think music is really more about the sound than the words haha. If it was only about the words then anyone could be famous XD. The sound is definitely more important v_v! and plus a song that you think is great will still be great even if the lyrics change right? haha XD At least it applies to me : )
