I think her staff has a better idea of what sound/style she wants, after working with her so closely/constantly, so they know what to go for -- thus she doesn't feel as compelled to do it all herself. She still picks the songs personally, or tells the arrangers/composers what she's looking for, but she might feel like what they produce is precisely the sort of sound she's aiming for.

That's what I think too! She doesn't feel like composing anymore, because her staff knows the music she likes and the sound she's aiming for :P

Also, she lost her hearing at the end of 2007ish, GUILTY era, right? And she slowly started composing less right after RAINBOW. Three CREA compositions on Memorial Address and MY STORY and only one on (miss)understood, which could've been different if GEO wasn't involved. No compositions on Secret (maybe because it was rushed), but she's been slowly composing less and less (and now not at all)

as far as I can recall, she only announced she had lost her hearing in 2008, she'd been losing it for a number of years (I think since 2000)

This whole idea is kinda ridiculous :l Composition has nothing to do with hearing. One of the most famous and brilliant composers in the whole world was completely deaf :l

concert tour 2000 vol.2 had an ear infection which lead to some ear damage pre-DOME TOUR 2001. That was the beginning of this entire mess.

She's not a composer, that's why she doesn't compose. She only started composing when none of her composers achieved the sound she wanted for M. Then.. she was asked to compose the whole of I Am...? From RAINBOW onwards though, CREAs apperance diminished bit by bit until it was gone. Probably because she is working with producers now who get her and the sound she wants for each song.

I think she's a pretty ametuer composer too. Her melodies are good, but its the arranger that steps in and makes them something special in the end. Not many (or any?) songs where CREA has done composing and arranging.

I don't think it has anything to do with her hearing. She was losing her hearing from 2001, the year she composed ALL her songs. Doesn't make much sense.

And remember that blog picture of her computer with the keyboard connected? She's probably comes up with her melodies that way. So she'd have to be pretty good at playing keyboard/piano.

Ahh!! I had forgotten about that!! I wonder if we'll ever get to hear it... I wish we would. I'd really love it if we heard something that she'd composed again...

I'm sure once she officially retires in 2050 or (heaven forbid) she passes...then we will get a release from avex of all tyoes of unreleased material. Not for the fans of course, but because Avex is one of the most greedy corporations in existence. >.<

I ALWAYS wish for more CREA compositions though :/

She composes mainly by humming and recording herself... (doesn't sound very pratical imo xD)

lumieregrl 13th April 2010 09:01 PM

I didn't know she composed that much in the first place? lol

Omg is that true!? Well she doesn't play any instruments so it sort of makes sense even though it sounds funny.

Picaflor 7/4 13th April 2010 09:22 PM

I don't think her deafness is her reason for not composing. Last song she composed was Will in 2005, and she didn't entirely lose hearing in her ear till 2008.

I'm pretty sure M and Humming were composed this way, cuz she herself said it... but considering one if her first composition and the other is one of the latest, well... her technique seens to be the same :P

And for who asked... she only arranged one song: Wonderland

truehappiness 13th April 2010 09:38 PM

She composed using a tape recorder and humming into it for M or something like that.

But with evolution, here's the backstory on that:
Quote:

Q. Out of the songs you made, the song that was new to you and had the fastest melody is…
evolution
Those days I couldn’t make songs at home so I brought all of my instruments to the hotel and made them. Plus, I run out of ideas if I stay in the same hotel, so I changed the hotels at every song I make. I think I made evo at a hotel in Yokohama*6? Back then, I was into guitar too, so after a process of trial and error, even though I made it myself I thought “Wow, it’s a very fast song!” (laughs). Before that I especially had a lot of medium or ballad songs, so it was very new to me, and I think my fans were really surprised too. I don’t think I can make another evo song even if someone tells me too. I think this song was born because I had that kind of particular “feeling” back then. If I was to make another rock song now I think I’ll make something close to “Humming 7/4”.
I think she might've used a guitar for it?

evolution is such a fast song that unless she actually knew how to play guitar she wouldn't have been able to compose it with one I'd assume.

Are you hiding talents from us Ayu O___O ? It'd be amazing if Ayu could learn to play one of her songs on piano like HEAVEN and play it at a concert. I'd dieee//

Well, she could've used it for slowly composing the melody, and then it was later sped up when it got to the arrangement process..

It could've been anything since she said she brought a load of instruments with her, haha.

Andrenekoi 14th April 2010 12:07 AM

^Well, she also said the tryed composing M with instruments before doing it on her own way...

LOL I was gonna write: "Tell it to Beethoven..." You already stated it ^^

Tony G 14th April 2010 01:38 AM

How do we know she can't play any instruments?

truehappiness 14th April 2010 01:40 AM

She can "play" notes and such, but I don't think she can "play" songs... if that makes sense to you, haha.
