"GAGAGA" to be released simultaneously in Japan and Korea
So, did something catch your ear while listening to GAGAGA? Something like, Korean lyrics, plus a sound that seems to borrow from KPOP?

Well, there's an app for that a good reason for that:

AkiP (otherwise known as Akimoto Yasushi, the general producer of the official ◯◯◯48 groups, has announced that GAGAGA will be released simultaneously in both Japan and Korea. Planning for that, he had a Korean composer work on the song, and also added in the Korean rap section you all heard (or maybe will keep an ear out for now). The concept of the song was "JPOP that's aiming for KPOP".

Well, I'm not sure how well they'll do in Korea (of course I wish them success), and I'm frankly more concerned with how they'll be received in Japan, but good luck with your international debut, SDN48!

Wow, I didn't think I'd be saying "international debut" so soon. XD

Me, Myself & Music 25th October 2010 02:37 AM

I actually like this song...O.o.

But all that arm flailing. Super super awkward looking, especially at the beginning.

Yumsushi 25th October 2010 02:49 AM

The chorus is kinda catchy but the rest is nothing special and they certainly don't need a (awkward) soccer team to sing it.

hearted 25th October 2010 11:14 AM

omg im in love with the chorus, like ALOT :faint :faint it reminds me abit of maki goto's ekizu no disco (if thats the name lol)

though their dancing was akward and kinda... not good :P

Orange Caramel is actually more trot (traditional Korean music, somewhat similar to Japanese enka) than J-pop.. :laugh

Kikuri 25th October 2010 03:26 PM

^ the song sounds similar to C-ute's song Hare no Platinum Dori and the outfits look stolen from Morning Musume's (or some other one of their groups..) dumpster.

Yum!Fruit_Salad! 26th October 2010 03:40 AM

Honestly I've been wondering with the new wave of Korean acts flooding Japan, how it would be to see the reverse happen and I gotta say it's not too bad. Their dancing could use some work though. Also, looking way less awkward would help too.

There is something about them... I can't put my finger on it, or tell if I like it...

On some Korean show:

That Korean girlband is really kind, giving them gifts.

OMG the wotas flew all the way to Korea just for this performance!?

Polyrhythm 20th November 2010 08:00 PM

Korea's not that far from Japan....

Polyrhythm 22nd November 2010 10:42 PM

LOL.....this guy....sneaking into an 18+ show with a video camera :laugh

The undergirls songs are hot. Sado he Wataru is a bit too Kpop for my tastes though.

Auctions for GAGAGA with pictures have started showing up at Y!AJ...

And I found four nine different versions of the external bonus picture that comes with the single. There are probably twelve in total since each picture has a different girl in the center and they're probably given out randomly. Nontii and Serina look particularly great. :luv2

Overall, this has turned out to be a pretty solid debut single and I'm glad that I ordered both editions because both b-sides sound great. I love that cabaret/burlesque-type of vibe they got going on. It sounds very theatrical. :)

Edit: Found five more external bonus pictures.

The back cover is hot. I wish there was a poster or wallpaper available of it. :drooly

And I've edited my previous post to add five more versions of the external bonus picture that comes with the single. :)

My poor ears...

Nackar_91 23rd November 2010 10:12 PM

I'm sorry, even though the song does sound like K-Pop, they honestly don't have the singing voices to pull it off. Most K-pop girl groups at least have some decent singers, whereas all these girls are mediocre whiny nasal-shrieking bats. I don't know any other way to describe it, but it makes my ears bleed. A shame, since I liked the song.

:D Fantastic

Kanzaki 24th November 2010 03:23 AM

Just...why? Even the korean girls are doing it better than this. I couldn't listen to more than 30 seconds of it ;(
