I don't know, maybe I'm a hypocrite because I love animals but I still eat them and I just don't care that much if other people wear fur. I've seen ayu wearing fur-like things a LOT, and I get the feeling it is real. for a second I'm like "aww, poor animal" but then forget about it and move on.

koumori 21st October 2010 08:28 PM

I don't care. Fashion will always be fashion and if fur, real or not, is 'in' the top celebrities will be wearing it in fashion shoots.

In the end our opinion doesn't matter.

LOL @ people taking this seriously.

ownsarai 21st October 2010 08:35 PM

I don't care if she wears fur. She can do whatever she pleases. It's not like she's the one going out there hunting the animal and killing it with her bare hands. I'm sure she wears real fur, and that is her choice. I don't think it hurts her career at all.

VRGRK 21st October 2010 09:18 PM

heres an idea.. why doesn't someone just tweet ayu and ask her if she wears real fur?! I know there are some processes that can make faux fur look like real fur but isn't actually real. I also know that a lot of celebrities wear faux fur because they want the look of real fur with out having to worry about the maintinance.

Yeah that's the part I have a problem with. How they go about treating the animals before death. There is NO reason to be cruel, I don't care what they say.

Tasked 21st October 2010 10:44 PM

if the animals are dead, then why not use the fur? =) but let's not kill them FOR fur (lol, furrr furr) =)

Andrenekoi 21st October 2010 10:47 PM

^Well, but this is how they do the fur coats xD

Seriously. It's disgusting what most of the ppl wrote in this thread before me, but asking for closing/deleting this thread makes my impression of you even worse.

There is another thing to consider: in Japan, this sort of thing is just NOT as big of a deal as it is in America. Wearing fur is considered just a part of everyday life. There isn't the same stigma attached to it as there is in the west.

I personally do not wear real fur but I'm not going to tell people who do that they are horrible. I think the practice of creating it should be scrutinized more than the people who wear the end product.

Ever heard of not breeding them intensely and concentrating them together en route to a slaughterhouse? It's our fault, not cows'.

As for Ayu, I strongly dislike it when she wears fur. Usually, I'm a fan of her fashion, but I can't support that.

On another note, I hardly ever see Japanese stars promoting philanthropies or social movements. I know it's been brought up before, but we got A song is born and then there hasn't been much else. Is this just not as common there? All the time in the US we see a new actor, singer, etc endorsing some issue. It doesn't necessarily bother me, but now that I think about it, wouldn't it be sweet to see Ayu lending her popularity to a charity or issue in need.

The market for real fur exists because of those ppl that are willing to pay for it to feel more special because they can afford expensive coats and show off themselves in the society.

So both, the monsters that flay animals alive and the customers are guilty, equally! There, I see no difference!

Japanese don't like their celebrities to express opinion... So, an artist rarelly suports some social movements so they stay as neutral as possible

That makes sense, even if it is depressing. :(

The problem I see with real fur is that most of the time comes from animals that were killed just for this purpose and not for meet. I agree on eating meet because we 'need' it, but killing just for fur, or haunting for for fun is terrible. And the way they torture the animal makes it worse...

I wish ayu wouldn't wear real fur, but if she does I wouldn't hate her.

On a side note I've to say that the mini fox tail in the 7days final mobile strap comes with the text: not real fur.

Maybe that means sth...

xLitax 22nd October 2010 02:21 AM

I'm not wearing it, so I don't care who does. I'm not going to shove any of my ideals down anyone's throat. It's none of my business.

Yes, I've heard of that too. I'm not defending such things though, but not all the problems are because of human beings. 95% yes 100% nope.
I'm against pointless cruelty, like fur industry. But actually I cannot change people mind. Most of those 'walking naked around the city things' looks useless. Just for getting few attention to newspaper, show naked girls and anything else. I don't buy real fur clothes, I buy just faux fur ones.
And guys, nobody kill animals for fur like in certain videos. They poison them, for not ruin their fur. It sounds less cruel than beating them with a crowbar or something, but that's still really awful.

Lol I was just joking about people who reporting this thread, and for the amount of drama that usually make close this kind of threads. I don't wanna let close this thread, it's quite interesting.

I regularly donate to this kind of cause, I really don't like when people wear real fur. But I honestly don't know if Ayu wears real or fake fur. Does anybody know? I'm not saying this bad, but Ayu seems like the type to wear real fur, purely because of the fact she seems like like the type to expensive things :) So while I wouldn't scream and rant and throw things on someone who wears fur, I just look down on it in general, Ayu is no exception. I'm a huge animal lover btw, so I really like sticking to the cause.

Anna Willow 22nd October 2010 03:33 AM

I'm against wearing real fur and protecting animals IS a big deal.

primavera♥ 22nd October 2010 03:45 AM

Woah. This thread? So someone here would rather see children suffer because theyre a disease to earth. Scary O.O
I take it as a personal insult to be honest

But anyway the animals are the topic here. And I treat ayu wearing real fur (what I assume she wears) as when my friends use products from animals
When the Anatomy class at our school dissects kittens
When most people eat meat when there are other options available.

These things don't have to be done. The unnecessary death of animals (and at times torture). But its all ones choice. Yep I still eat meat cuz I love me some seafood.
No I don't wear real fur cuz I don't like how it comes about. But I will never judge a person as bad or anything cuz they do any of what I menitoned. If I did I'd be being a hypocrite

So same for ayu...

Although I feel like some people here are so strongly against it but are giving excuses to ayu or sort of hoping its faux. Hmm...

I do feel bad for the poor things that are unfortunately selected to be apart of someones new winter collection. Kinda really sad.

gallowsCalibrator 22nd October 2010 03:52 AM

Everyone thinks that because I'm a veggie I'm automatically super PETA, but... I mean, I adore animals. We can't live without 'em! But, yeah... Humans eat meat. That's killing animals, no matter how you look at it. "Well, they're dead!" Okay. So is the animal the furs came from. As long as the animal wasn't slaughtered, or tortured, or harmed in the process, I see no difference from eating the meat of the animal. If Ayu wears furs that weren't obtained by harming animals in any way, it makes no difference to me. She can do what she wants ^_^ Now, if she wore furs that were obtained in an awful way, I'd be angry, but I wouldn't be all OMGWTFAYUYOUAREANEVILWOMANIHATEUUU:wtf I think she's already proven that she loves animals (her dogs are the prime example :laugh) but really, we'd have no way of knowing how furs she wears are obtained~
Whew!
/end rant :P
