I think the expression suits her, it would be better if she was smiling but it might look a bit out of place, I think, especially with the background and clothing. I like it regardless. ^_^

I don't get what's wrong with her facial expression,
she looks just fine. I think people r just concentrating to much on the lips part.
I mean, compare the calender cover with Sunrise/Sunset~LOVE is ALL~ cover & u can tell what's mean by dead facial expression.

and this cover wins over her past years' calenders' covers.

She looks like she's back to her pre-2007 period & I love the cover.

She has the same feeling in the cover as she has on Love songs cover. I kind of like this relaxed and sweet feeling I get for some reason.

BUT she looks like Kana Nishino. Lately I've been mislooked Ayu as Kana too often. D: Oh well, at least Ayu's beautiful in the pic. :)
