I always thought that FIVE is titled because there are 5 songs, 5 PVs and 5 Making off shots. also the outstanding "V" means FIVE.

probably ayu wanted to have a single before, but then meeting with leslie, they discussed bout things..n came to the idea of LOVE & HOPE, probably that made ayu changed her mind to have a mini album with HOPE idea implemented on it.

But it's interesting that the font can actually be read like HOPE!

OMG, I knew there was something else! 8D I've been a fan so long that I thought giving a title because there's five songs sounds so very un-ayuish. More than that, I thought the songs on the album had a some kind of "hope" in every one of them. To me it sounds like that. And also I did wonder the form of the letters on the cover too. V looked like a heart to me but I thought it's just my imagination. Damn, I should've investigated it myself~ :D

Not buying the hope stuff because it's just too encrypted into the letters. There IS "Love & Hope" hidden in the background of the beloved PV though, in the scene with all the kids after the colours got in. But if that aspect, the title being HOPE, really was that important they would have made it easier to notice. I'm not saying they didn't make it like that on purpose, I just think with how hidden it is it COULD just be a coincidence and if it's not it probably isn't the main aspect. Remember Ayumi said there is multiple meanings to the title, maybe that is one of those.
You could find just about every short word in the title if you just searched for it and HOPE just doesn't work very well with the songs' lyrics to me.

I just saw it as five different ways to look at her fans. Since I am convinced the album is about her fans.
There is "we grew together" in progress, "I love you" in beloved, "I miss you" in ANother song...and at least BRILLANTE, beloved and progress seem to definitely be about her fans in some way.

I don't hate the font so much anymore... :)
