She's been falling fast since the first day. She'll sell about 6-8k tops and land within the Top 20/30.

EDIT: UNLOCKED debuts at #17 with 5,862 copies. (MAGAZINE debuted with 16,238 at #6 last year)

regardless if it's #17 or #18 , it's really bad . I couldn't help but feel really awful at the way just how UNLOCKED did :x

At least me , Utena & x-megumi-x contributed 5 copies towards the 1st week sales of UNLOCKED but still ._.

AyumiAi 22nd February 2012 12:07 AM

I really doubt she's going to continue with her music career after Unlocked >.<

CHE.R.RY 22nd February 2012 12:36 AM

^ Yeah I agree...I'm having a feeling that this might be it. Either that or she's going to go on a hiatus until she is settled in with her child & Akanishi...that's going to take probably at least a year if not more. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted Meisa :weep.

niiwa 22nd February 2012 01:14 AM

She might take a break, but I don't think she'll stop at all. Wired Life was a hit. LOL! was a national hit. She broke into Oricon's top 5 with MAGAZINE and her label, gr8! records/Sony Music, is putting much efforts into her carrer.
With UNLOCKED, to me, she matured a lot as a singer. With her child, she might mature as a woman as well and I bet it'll reflect in the way she'll manage her image and songs as well. The media is constantly saying about Namie Amuro and her and all the similarity between the scandal so, with the media help and the fans, she will come back as a Phoenix. I don't think she'll come back as a singer, but as an actress and model. With time being and everything settle down, she might come back to her singing career, which is her dream and I bet she'll not give it up so easily.
Also, consider the low sales with the lack of promotion (the TV and the posters among the streets worked very well during MAGAZINE era). To me, she did very good on Oricon if we consider it all. As a fan, I'll keep waiting for the best.

KarenPang 22nd February 2012 01:50 AM

even if the scandal didn't broke out , I already had a feeling UNLOCKED wouldn't be able to do as well as MAGAZINE

Compared to promo for MAGAZINE , UNLOCKED didn't had any if not 0 promo . Also the packaging for both CD+DVD's of the album was only normal , it didn't had that awesome X factor MAGAZINE had

Somemore the singles included in UNLOCKED weren't really big major hits (Wired Life did well in line with the Ao no Exorcist anime tie in while Wired Life had that Kit Kat tie in CM just like LOL!) unlike what happened for LOL! which really drove MAGAZINE up to #6 as its peak position

Well regardless of which , it reminds to be seen what will be Kuroki's next step but for now , I'm going to assume the worst in anyway possible

Who knows maybe when she's back in full swing , she will come back with something great , music wise ? if not , I will still support her other works as well

pommy48 22nd February 2012 03:21 AM

UNLOCKED could have gotten promo if those TV performances if they weren't cancelled ;_;

adantatu2 22nd February 2012 05:42 AM

0 promotion and scandals are the reason for the low sales T_T

sesshy 22nd February 2012 07:03 AM

I hope it's not the end of her music career. I recently became a fan of hers. :(

CherryMoon 22nd February 2012 11:49 AM

i dont even think her situation is the same as Namie, well at least Namie was at her peak. Meisa is obviously nowhere near namie's million sales. Even when Namie came back, it was soo hard to climb back to where she is right now. Though i wish Meisa would still continue doing what she likes but its going to be hard, honestly.

Meisa is at the peak of her career, at least, as an actress and model. Half of the industry would kill for a Hashida Awards, just saying. :innocent

PoetGirl 22nd February 2012 02:33 PM

You keep bringing that hashida award so much yet it doesnt have anything to do with music if Im right, and besides like it was said it cant be compared to namie AT ALL. obviously her child was an accident, no matter how bad it sounds, thats why she said in her message she's still not mature yet. and kuroki peak cannot be compared to namie peak. Id like to see her comeback, but she didnt make her name relevant enough so it will need wonders for it.

I think this is very unlikely

Utena 22nd February 2012 03:05 PM

LOL! was a major hit for her standards, especially digital wise. MAGAZINE did fairly good too, thanks to the success of LOL! (why do you think she promoted the album mainly with this song even though it had been released ages ago?)
And yes, considering her situation as an artist atm, she did good with UNLOCKED.
Idk, try releasing an album without any significant promotion when you're not that popular as a singer.. We'll see if you can manage to see 6k lol I was actually expecting her to sell 3k, so 6k is definitly good.

CoriKaru 22nd February 2012 07:54 PM

Album arrived in the mail today. Will be listening to it shortly.

I also think that the new album does pretty good! It's not like Meisa's albums ever sold a lot of copies. "Hellcat" and "MAGAZINE" did pretty good, but "Attitude" sold even less copies then "UNLOCKED", right?

Personally I think that she is a better actress than she is a singer. Maybe she should concentrate more on her acting again!

adantatu2 22nd February 2012 09:36 PM

I'm pissed, because probably she will never return to the music industry, and Jin A. will keep doing music without a lot of problems. It's unffair IMO.

Pieces_of_SEVEN 22nd February 2012 10:59 PM

Honestly, unless she can release quality music like LOL!, Wired Life, and Shock all the time, I'm fine with her not releasing anything. Most of her album tracks seem to be pretty boring, imo.

Utena 22nd February 2012 11:14 PM

who says she will stop anyway? so far she is not on hiatus and still active.

people who speculate for the sake of speculating , get a life man
