A Ballads had weak sales (for it's time of release), there was no way ASB was going to be a monster seller...

well I don't really expect anything since I don't like Best Of albums especially now where you can find the songs that you want without buying a whole album !
And since most of them are in the previous Best Of, I don't see any interest in that album sorry...
But I'll support this project ! I hope it will do good but it's more about her fans than a real large audience !

i think the first day sales are pretty good! #2 isn't bad at all. :)

im hoping the live will either give a boost or make steady sales :)

so disappointed with sales...

I was in Shibuya's Tsutaya today and ayu's ASB stand was inside the shop, you need to go to the centre of the shop to see it while SMAP's stand was very close to the doors, so when you enter the first thing you see is SMAP's new album :/ and I was surprised to see that there's no buzz around her stand, it looked quite lonely you know...

well, those guys appeared on TV a lot, it's impossible to ignore them... ayu could do some promotion... I guess she just doesn't care about sales, charting and all that stuff.

I was kind of hoping for number one, but her sales look good! :) Go Ayu!

A SUMMER BEST is current #1 on Japanese iTunes. And You & Me is #5! Maybe the sales aren't so bad after all??

Not surprised here. Johnny's still are dominant, no way Ayu going to beat SMAP. But keep in mind that Johnny's don't sell music on iTunes...

at least it started selling more than Party Queen =)

I still think she should have released this in the beginning of summer. I don't want a summer mix two weeks into August. :no

You & Me is now #4 and the music video is #3. :) That has to mean something good for Ayu's sales!

Why do best albums sell so well?

Personally, I don't want to buy the same tracks again, unless they're significantly different.

^ because casual listeners will buy them to get all the hit songs in one CD, rather than buy multiple CDs for a few songs.

bad plan to release around SMAP. seriously... if you're gonna try and recreate something like Ayu v. Utada in sales, you'll have to promote harder avex!!! :thud



BUT, not bad sales.

Sales aren't bad for first day, but lower than what I expected for a BEST album.
Maybe the FNS performance will help increase sales? :)

Should have released You & Me as a single, it would have killed in the charts. It's the perfect summer tune and the Japanese would have lapped it up, they love their seasonal songs.

This was only ever going to be a release die-hard fans purchased. It would have never got her #1 against any kind of competition. And releasing useless BEST's is not Ayu's style. I wonder who was pulling the shots here. It's not necessary to package every new song in some kind of useless complilation.
