lol well now Avex has a $7mln (or somethign like that) to pay to a korean management company Tohoshiki (or what their group name was) belongs to because they lost the deal in trial, tho they are going to "sue" them back or whatever xD it's not the easy times for Avex either i guess, even if the company took the crown for most selling/bigest income title of last year :innocent
i think at some point they just see that Ayu's bright light times are over, and there's just so much money you can suck out of that, so they are spending more money and putting more effort into their other acts...? i mean they have best selling female artist legend under their wing, what else might you need *shrugs*
as for PVs i'd say just wait a little, she's doing quite good music, maybe she'll get onto the new ideas and PVs for some other stuff eventually, just a matter of time i think *shrugs*

I do think that she could have popped out one new video for an album track. But, I'm feeling ok with everything. Melody's video looks really good imo. So, whatevs.

What about all the millions they made off of Namie's ass?

That's cause Kumi is working with a great artist (Mika Ninagawa) for this project. Ayu can definitely work with someone like Mika if she wanted to but she likes to work with her friends so...yeah. I really don't get why people think Avex seem to favor kumi so much?? Avex will never care about Kumi more than Ayu. I'm pretty sure Rhythm Zone has their own separate budget anyway.

the only reason out there is that she and avex are lazy *****es

xLuna&1LOVE 23rd January 2013 02:00 PM

I don't know, I like the new pvs. And I don't find them really cheaplooking at all. Maybe sometimes more boring, but so are some of her other pvs. Like Wake me up and snowy kiss, it didn't interest me. But I doubt it was cheap. Or low-budget. Traveling already is a pain when it comes to money. And I actually like the simplicity of Ayu nowadays. Over the top is nice, 'til some point. Then you need to think of something else, what still could be so Ayu. It's just a matter of taste. Not a reason. What would you have done different about the pvs then? Add more sparkles?

totally agreed :yes LOVE again is definitely a huge step up from party queen. almost in terms of all aspects

Jajajajaja

I think she is to busy with her personal problems. I feel that for some reason she wanted to get out of Japan for a while.

In terms of quantity, she hasn't made any less PVs with this album than usual. She's not going to think she needs to make more videos because fans think they are boring. She's not being "slack" or "lazy" at all.

truehappiness 24th January 2013 06:46 AM

Namie's money probably mostly goes to Vision Factory.

Just for fun (I'm bored), let's compare how many vides she has for each album:

A Song for XX: 5
LOVEppears: 6
Duty: 5 (1 released on the same day of the album)
I am...: 8 (where was Connected PV released?)
RAINBOW: 3

-CD+DVD releases-
Memorial Adress: 7 (2 exclusive to the album)
MY STORY: 7 (my name's WOMEN was released with STEP you)
(miss)understood: 10 (3 exclusive to the album)
Secret: 7 (3 exclusive to the album)
GUILTY: 6 (2 exclusive to the album)
NEXT LEVEL: 6 (3 exclusive to the album)
Rock'n'Roll Circus 8 (4 exclusive to the album)
Love song: 8 (3 exclusive to the album)
Five: 5 (5 exclusive to the album)
Party Queen: 4 (4 exclusive to the album)
LOVE again: 7 (1 exclusive to the album)

She seens to be on her usual mark...

yamadashun 24th January 2013 07:06 AM

^thanks for the info!

so Love songs has the most PVs in an album. no wonder i still likes that album so much.

truehappiness 24th January 2013 07:29 AM

Yep. Love songs is also the one with the most singles recently as well. (three singles with five PVs coming from single tracks... six if you count Last angel)

You're right!! Ayu is just chilling :innocent

This is where the lies about the mini/singles thing really annoys me - it IS only 1 new PV.

Maybe it's the standard final number for her albums, but her old singles never cost the same as a mini album so yeah, I think more bang for the buck is warranted.

But I just hate this anniversary right now anyway, so there's no redeeming it for me at this point regardless =|

I am actually surprised that avex okayed just 1 additional PV if this was their plan all along

perfectodub 24th January 2013 08:33 PM

i feel that "LOVE again" is just a "small appetizer" with no future /longevity for this year. actualy is great music!, but the concept is simple, with no big ambitions and like she said: "a gift for her fans" no tour inspired on the album and no expensive PVs.

i think this year we don't gonna have a too much new music, this is a, anniversary year, so dvd boxes, compilation album, remixes it will be the norm, i think by the middle of the year maybe ayu may surprise us with a new single.

Thankfully the 15th anniversary still hasn't really started yet.

setsuka 29th January 2013 08:54 AM

in what world is avex's budget not doing well, they are the number one label in Japan ATM

plus Kuu's and my other avex bias pv aren't suffering,so ummmmm.....

just Ayu needs to ditch her current crob of directors (they literally suck) and for this thread

the trilogy makes it seem like she didn't make a lot of pvs but she did

haaa.... maybe that might exactly be the problem, she's giving work to her friends leaving the new possibilities and talents pass by...:innocent

C+R+E+AYUMI 30th January 2013 09:59 AM

she will put them on next release LOL

Midori-chan 30th January 2013 05:03 PM

Personally I think that the quantity of Ayu's videos is still the same, but they have decreased so much in quality.
Her older PVs ("ourselves", "RAINBOW", "Dearest", "BALLAD" and so many others) showed originality and creativity. The storylines of her new PVs are either sappy romance movies with bad acting or her walking/standing in some place and singing.

I just feel sad, because I know that Ayu is capable of so much more. Either AVEX doesn't give her the money anymore (which I personally don't think, because the new PVs don't look cheap at all, but lazily done; also think about what fantastic tours Ayu always plays with a lot of pomp, I'm sure that costs a lot of money) or she really doesn't try anymore.
