I don't think it's fair to assume he's a creep. That'd be like saying everyone who takes in a foreign exchange student has ill intentions in mind.

Perhaps she felt that so much time had gone by, going to his funeral would be uncomfortable.

Also, everyone deals with grief differently. Ayu has had multiple people around her die in the past few months. I'm sure she's having a difficult time with everyone's death.

Saying negative things about someone for not going to a funeral is horrible and I'm ashamed of these types of articles.

Going slightly off topic.

Okay. When might this have been again? It's just that I don't recall NHK doing any major footage on Ayu during her Avex debut.

Anyways. Her hair is totally gorgeous in that interview.

And I think I understand just perfectly their "ways" and their point of view...I mean, god damn, she lived in his house. At the same time, I applaud her for being above all of their more ridiculous (and totally petty sometimes) cultural traditions, and being who she is.

I'm sure she remembers who the person is, and I'm sure she had her own reasons for not going, and that's both respectable and her business. I do agree with happi though, the backlash is to be expected.

Especially when every newspaper/magazine seems to be on a fishing expedition with her.

@Zemus had to be near her debut atleast since she seemed to getting introduced to people involved in her career from Avex. NHK did 2 really lengthy interviews at different times early in her career and both look staged from Avex's side of the camera.

do not understand why make a scandal out of it, because it makes some poor logic here. she wanted to get rid of all her past connection to Sun music, it makes sense she didn't go to this wake either

No, no. That's Nippon TV (NTV) that did those. The so called "Light & Shadow" interviews aired in 2000 and 2004.

NHK is the public broadcaster of Japan.

^Ok it's been a very long time since I watched those. But anyway they seem staged as does the one from Sun Records. I doubt she gave up living on her own to move in with an old man and his wife just because she went to work for his company.

It is so strange to watch that video and believe that is HER! The changes she has gone through in her life are wild.

It's kinda tacky for the press to write about this, people have their own ways of grieving, if Ayu wants to grief or whatever in private then that's ok. I'm sure Ayu has passed on her regards to his wife privately.

yoshino 12th June 2013 12:48 PM

Wow ayu had such a beautiful long hair back then!!

I can't believe on the 10% thing too. I don't think it's reasonable. And even if ayu didn't attend the wake it isn't something serious to blame her right. Probably she has something on. Why even bother to blow things up by writing tat article. I don't get this Japanese culture too.

a bit offtopic, but I've never heard ayu saying that she wanted to become a big star before.

here, she said: "there's only one aim - to become a big star".
