That Wake up! is a One Piece Opening is probably a factor with these numbers.

brener 2nd July 2014 05:31 PM

Actually it's not only One Piece, because we also had amounts like that sold by early singles.

Mai82Go 2nd July 2014 06:49 PM

I don't really know with the japanese people. I don't understand their taste. Especially for AAA. Some singles that I consider far superior sell ok, others that are average sell good. I think if this single sells better than their average singles in the end, One Piece might be why. Wake up! is a very anime-ish song, after all.

brener 2nd July 2014 07:58 PM

Japanese audience is just like every audience in every country. What sells good is generic stuff that people are used to. In USA we have those generic pop singers, in Brazil we have those duo country groups, in UK we have eletronic and alternative rock bands, and in Japan we have idols with those generic japanese pop songs. Wake up! is a generic j-pop song that's why it's selling this good, the One Piece tie-in helped of course, but AAA is popular enough to hold a first day sales of 20k copies with a single.

I tried to find some for firefox, but it is often mentioned that most of them could possibly be spy add-ons.
Anyway I watched the PV on Youku now and it's gorgeous imo. I really like the summer festival scenery and everyone looks adorable, especially Chiaki.
But actually I expected higher first day sales for "Wake Up", since the AAA fandom is quiet static + the major tie-in impact, but this single will probably just do a little better than their recent singles.

That's what I meant, 22k is an okay number for a Triple A first day release, people were expecting more because of the tie-in. But we have to consider that Wake up! was already released digitally on January and it did great back then on digital charts, being capable to reach #1 on Weekly Singles at recochoku on its debut week. The One Piece fandom who were interest on the song bought the digital version six months ago and probably aren't buying it again now, so that's why we're having this average numbers.

By the way, Wake up! re-entered on recochoku Daily Singles today on #2 ^^ and the whole single (which recochoku count as an album) debuted at #4 on Daily Albums ^^

Thanks for the suggestion. I'm using Youtube Unblocker now. It works as well.

That's true. I forgot about the early digital release. Under this aspect the numbers are probably fine. I adore "Kaze ni Kaoru Natsu no Kioku" so much, I hope this single will do well the next days, too.

I have not been keeping up with AAA since last year... i feel like I have missed a lot. lol
Didnt even realize they had a new album! (now old)

I really like that Summer Theme they have going. They have this contract with a clothes brand called Ito Yokado. Every year they present new yukatas for the summer festival season.

And this time it really fits, the song has a really nostalgic feeling and I enjoy the girls voices in this song, Chiaki and especially Misako sing very softly and I like that innocence, they sound so young.

Oh I did not know about this clothes brand collaboration, but I think it's a Yukata Collection? And I wonder which songs they used to promote it over the last years, since they did not release a summer themed song for several years now I think. The last one I can remember is Summer Revolution.

That's a huge drop, but at least it's rising up the charts for now.

brener 4th July 2014 12:22 AM

It was a normal drop, usually japanese releases drop from 50% to 80% on the second day. Hopefully it will rise on the weekend.

these are okay sales.
I would have thought One Piece being so huge it would have done slightly better.

By the way, Wake Up! made a huge sucess digitally in January, it reached #1 on its debut week at Recochoku. They're focusing on Kaze ni Kaoru Natsu no Kioku for this physical release.

NINKI ranking for this single: 56.70
24k copies till that mark, I don't think it's possible although, unless it sells 5-6k per day until the end of the week..

Fingers crossed for a weekend boost. I really want this to be a success and hope they will do more songs like that in the future, since I'm a little tired of PARTY IT UP, SHOW TIME, HANDs etc. kind of songs.

brener 5th July 2014 01:29 AM

^ nah I wouldn't mind another edm-esque single, specially now that they improved so much :)
