love in music 22nd April 2015 09:12 PM

I haven't posted in this thread in a while.. but I'm a longtime ai fan (9 years). I'm really shocked by this new album in a good way. It's not a typical ai album at all and I'm so glad she's changing things up :D My favorites are definitely I'm lonely, affair, and Laugh. They're so catchy :luv2 I just wish there were more songs, lol.

I really like the album. Nothing too groundbreaking but it is an easy listen and I've had it on repeat all day. I'm lonely is my jam. I hope Namie slays even harder than this!

Ashen Twilight 23rd April 2015 03:58 AM

Love the album. It's like a combination of her LOVE material and her album, LOVE PiECE, combined, so in other words amazing. It still feels like an Ai album to me except its more like a new chapter. Most of her other albums have pretty must just been an addendum with small tweaks. I've been listening to this album all day and can't get enough. I enjoy every song. I think my favorites look like this though:

1) laugh
2) shooting star
3) end and and ~10,000 hearts~
4) affair

However, I think my favorite part from this album are the verses in I'm lonely. Sexy.

My top 3 of the album
1. laugh
2. affair
3. I'm lonely

Those song is my current driving jam right now

~kashifaita~ 23rd April 2015 04:57 AM

The more I listen to this album, the more I realize what some of you are saying about the song structures/lyrics being bland lol. I didn't realize how much end and and repeated it's verses until I actually looked at the lyrics. Nevertheless, all the instrumentals are fantastic!

and affair is my new twerk anthem. gOD that song.

AmyRoseM 23rd April 2015 06:43 AM

She's back and this is so good and I don't even know what to do with myself. o.O

terra 23rd April 2015 07:31 AM

^Yes we do! Just a different in priority. Those 3 are sure the jam of the album for us XD

Parallel World, summer lovely days, and end and and are probably my favorites from this album. With shooting star and laugh behind them. The first three just make me pretty happy. Awesome moods they give.

The rest of the album is good in that way too.

Zeke. 23rd April 2015 09:05 AM

Lol, it's funny cause parallel world and summer lovely days are my least favorites, along with affair. The melodies for parallel world and summer lovely days are what just drives me. They don't really sound like melodies, it's more of like a "tune" or "jingle" - the melody for summer lovely reminds me of something a child would sing. Like making up a song about nonsense such as sitting on the toilet or washing their toes.

thinkingoutloud89 23rd April 2015 11:34 AM

^ nothing bad about it. Ai was always known for easy-listening music and I want to remind you that this album is produced by STUDIO APARTMENT, who are still electronic music producer - so the lack of some melodies should not surprise you.
I just don't get why you listen to it when you don't like...
I like it pretty much, but I'm also not as excited as everybody else...still i don't want to leave a bad taste in ther mouth. How about you wait 2 wekks and then give your proper review when everyone else is over the first excitement to.

nanomi 23rd April 2015 12:05 PM

Bought the album on iTunes last night, after seeing all this hype and liking the preview YouTube video. It's really fun to listen to and I enjoy how repetitive it is...lol I like listening to this type of stuff while I am working, so for me this is ideal!
I'm really satisfied with Ai overall now, because while I enjoy her first 3 albums the most, she has changed and this is something new, so I like this change.

...Now back to working and crying over having spent so much money on Ayu, Kuu, and Ai in the past 2 weeks. And now Namie is next...Too much epic can't handle it.

But to me that is what is so great about them. That's how I knew Parallel world would be one of my favorites from the previews. The simplicity of the composition is just so nice, simple, and pretty. The arrangements are not too simple but simple enough to compliment the compositions while creating an easy-listening chill mood as well.

The songs parallel world and summer lovely days don't really seem like they progress much either, along with being simple melodically. They also are very repititive. But that's what I enjoy in this context. It's very minimalistic in a way. And I can get lost in that and propbably repeat the songs without even seeing where the beginning is lol. I don't have to go through a long narrative of a song, I have others for that. No buildup of a story. Nothing complex. I can project what I want on it and just chill and be lost.

It's to articulate how I feel about those two songs but they do give me life.

Are you seriously saying this when she has a song called Ramen 3-Minute Cooking, which is pretty much exactly what you described and yet couldn't be more different from summer lovely days or Parallel World?
