At the end of the article, of course, there is a mini-bio, you know? Her real name is •l¨č•ą. I had a feeling there was a kanji to her first name, she just didn't use it. Same with Suzuki Ami. She always wrote "Ami" in hiragana, but there was a kanji for her name. This isn't uncommon among stars, I think. But there is always the instance where there really is no kanji for the first name, just hiragana or katakana. Still, it's interesting!! I assume her first name is still pronounced "ayumi."
your right, its very common for artists / actors etc to use hiragana instead of kanji for their first name...

ive only seen her use it twice: in

Whee. How much would that be if she did that in America? 6-8 million?

Hi! This is my first post at this forum. I've been an Ayu fan since late Summer (I'm a newbie) although I've been aware of her since this time last year. I have the 'Loveppears' and 'Duty' albums, but I have not yet managed to obtain anything else, due to severe lack of disposable income. :( Personally, I think it's fantastic that 'Memorial Dress' has managed to shift 1,100,000 copies in just a two week span. Wow. Ayu's time is NOT up, despite all the negative media attention these days which she has fallen trap to. If this is Ayumi Hamasaki being a flop, then I COULDN'T imagine what it was like at her 'peak'. Woo-hoo! Go Ayu!

Aldonia 6th January 2004 01:39 PM

WOOOOOOOO! Go Ayu!! ^^

Unimatrix Prime™ 6th January 2004 01:44 PM

Planet Chart ranks Memorial Address at #6, so I wonder what the sales info for this week will be...

Unimatrix Prime™ 7th January 2004 01:28 AM

Oricon now lists new info about the album rankings, with this week's total at 306,521. So.. add this to the previous amount of sold copies of:

Week 1: 210k
Week 2: 524k
Week 3: 306k

The total has exceeded 1, 040, 000 sales! Go Ayu :D !

GEEZE!!!! tahts a whole crap load of CDs!!!:loony GOOD JOB AYU :yatta !!!

Cavi 7th January 2004 06:26 PM

Quite nice numbers there. Cheers for Ayu.

Boo to Ayaya only moving 80k. That's like less than half of what her previous effort posted. Damn those declining H!P sales!

tinyppl 9th January 2004 11:56 AM

Muahaha it's expected!! I remember Duty sold 3 million copies on the first week of release XD!

Unimatrix Prime™ 9th January 2004 12:45 PM

I made a mistake with this... I forgot that the number 524,028 was the total sales from the 1st and 2nd week, so add that to 306,521 and the total so far is 830,549... sorry for the wrong info :(

PinkSock 9th January 2004 04:17 PM

so the total is less than a million? that's a bummer...
she'll still break the million barrier tho.

CT_Cool 9th January 2004 04:42 PM
