歌手・浜崎あゆみ（２６）が２４日の「愛・地球博」の開会式でオーケストラをバックに歌うことになり２日、 発表された。当日は天皇・皇后両陛下、小泉首相を前に、地球の未来、子供たちへの思いを自ら作詞した「Ａ　 Ｓｏｎｇ　ｉｓ　ｂｏｒｎ」を披露。世界に平和のメッセージを届ける。

　浜崎が“愛・平和大使”の大役を担うことになった。環境との調和を図りながら豊かな未来社会を作ろう、を 合言葉に開催される同博。ＮＨＫで中継される開会式は３部構成となっており、浜崎は「ようこそ、愛・地球博 」と題された第３部に森山良子、ＫＯＮＩＳＨＩＫＩらと出演。第１部の式典には公式イメージソングを担当す るＹＯＳＨＩＫＩ、日本館の総合監督・渡辺貞夫らが出席する。

　“日本代表”として、さらには第３部のテーマ「生命の大切さや平和への祈りを日本、世界に発信する」の体 現者として白羽の矢が立った浜崎。主催者側からの強い要望で、米テロ直後に、平和への祈りを込めて発売した チャリティーシングル「Ａ　Ｓｏｎｇ　ｉｓ　ｂｏｒｎ」（当時のタイトルは『ａ　ｓｏｎｇ　ｉｓ　ｂｏｒｎ 』）をクラシックバージョンで歌うことが決まっている。

　浜崎が作詞、小室哲哉が作曲した同曲。「もう一度だけ思い出して　僕らの地球のあるべき姿　そしてどうか 忘れないで…」という歌詞で、ウィーン・フィルハーモニー管弦楽団、ベルリン・フィルなど世界各国から結集 した俊英たち約１００人で特別編成されたスーパーワールドオーケストラを従え、歌でメッセージ を届ける。

　なお浜崎は開会式当日の２４日、「Ａ　Ｓｏｎｇ…」を収録した初のクラシックアルバム「ＭＹ　ＳＴＯＲＹ 　Ｃｌａｓｓｉｃａｌ」を発売する。
