Well, at this rate, I'm sure it will break 300,000, but the quick slips in sales is somewhat worrisome. But it's true that many other "good" singles came out then as well. Makes me wonder what the sales for HEAVEN will be, especially when Hikki's single comes out.

Well, fairyland is bouncing back up on Oricon, top ten! :] She's #9 I believe. Really good after dropping to like, 14 and bouncing up again.

I think they made the right choice not promoting alterna.
The song is about Ayu herself, now who would want to listen to Ayu talking about how she's tired of tabloids? Unless it's fans, no one would care. 'fairyland' is much easier to relate to. It's happy and genki and radio-friendly.

This song is really about herself? But I think everyone can relate to these words.. I think Alterna and Fairyland should have been promoted equally. Instead, Avex did not do a single thing to promote Alterna, I havent even seen a poster... (I doubt there's one..) Alterna had the ability to attract another set of audience.. Who expected Ayumi to make something so rock, almost metal, a little pop, yet so easy on the ears, just like teenage music nowadays, only much nicer and sophisticated...

Hmm I don't know about you but when I read the lyrics I just think this is Ayu's message to people who critisize her and talks about her "behind her back". A song about herself.

Whatever the case, knowing Japanese people's love for happy songs it probably won't work to promote alterna. Some people might think the single is some angsty (spl?) song and wouldn't buy it because of that. You have to realize promoting 'alterna' means less promotion for 'fairyland'. Rather than a 50-50 Avex probably decided to go for 100% fairyland in order to generate maxim sales from Ayu's target audience.
