So are we still going to blame it on Japan's sales lowering in general?

gogirlanime 28th October 2005 06:44 PM

She's not as huge as she used to be, but she's still doing great! Great job Ayu!

I don't thinks so. Maybe she didn't do really good but at least her singles are saleing better then her 04 singles so far. It will be really bad if her singles sold worser then her 04 singles.
The following singers always sale good for single. Orange Range B'Z Smap Mr.Children These singles sales better out of my guess is because GLAMOROUS SKY NANA starring MIKA NAKASHIMA is for that popular Nana movie. Also for さくら ケツメイシ because of the drama it used for. I think that Heaven is going to sale as much as Fairyland did. That is just my feeling.

Well, I know her sales are better, but chart-wise, she is doing worse. She had three singles in top 20 last year. THis year it's one. SO she is doing worse....

ayu_fan929 28th October 2005 10:10 PM

^well the competition's been tougher this yr....

anyways, i dun think shes doing worse, cos RANKINGS dont really matter, the actual SALES NUMBERS are only important. she could have a single selling 1,000,000 and get the ranking #100. who cares about the ranking? its the 1,000,000 that counts....just cos she didnt get into the top 20 doesnt mean that shes necessarily doing worse..

If she sold a single that sold 1,000,000 (compared to these sales) how would she even come close to #100?

not bad, not bad. she sold better than last year, so i'm glad. :] and there were a lot of good singles out this year as well!

lotusoka 29th October 2005 12:58 AM

DDR ninja 29th October 2005 01:18 AM

LacusClyne 29th October 2005 01:18 AM

let's pray and hope that ayu's 'Bold and Delicious' would be no 1...but good jod for the other singles

DA1SUK1DAY01691 29th October 2005 04:00 AM

at least she's basically the top female artist on the list... only NANA's single and that thing... too lazy to read.

well its just an example, it doesnt have to b true...the point is, ranking dont matter cos w/the ranking comes the sales...n sales #'s r like the most important

JinHamasaki 29th October 2005 04:56 AM

I think this hints that it is the end of the Pop-Queen era. Well, at least for now.

ruixiong89 29th October 2005 07:02 AM

Haha, I don't know! But being the highest grossing and selling solo female artiste, there's a lot to cheer for! Haha, and with her own strength and talent she manages to secure 6th for MY STORY? I think that's excellent!

Raleigh 29th October 2005 08:05 AM

Hmm.. the charts are good and bad. As far as I know no female artist surpassed Ayu sales-wise except Mika's single which of course was NANA's so no surprise there... since Japan is all crazy over NANA. Album wise Ayu is the top seller.. and this is compared to two best of albums - of BoA and Kumi.

I don't see the end of Ayu's pop queen era. I just see how people are now oriented more towards bands. - shrugs - It's just a matter of preference I suppose. People are now more interested to bands rather than solo female singers. But I do believe she is still better than other solo female singers.

Bennie K also did.

BUt I agree with you though, her era is not over, and frankly I think she has done the best job out of the "old" idols adapting to new times. I'm wondering how much I wanna be a pop star by Ken Hirai will sell though.

extepan 29th October 2005 10:19 AM

i hope ayu can have a top 10 single next year

tinyppl 29th October 2005 02:49 PM

I'm surprised BoA's album is right below My Story.

ayu_fan929 29th October 2005 04:13 PM

keep in mind koda kumi's best album is stil on the charts, just sold 80K last wk......she's gonna beat BoA tho, n mayb catch up to ayu

Qt Mashi 30th October 2005 12:43 AM

ahh you don't get it do you. If everyone sells 100000000000 copies then to sell 100000000000 cds is no longer a big deal. To put it in big words, it's the relative that matters not the absolute. ;)

okay, I've never been too caring about rankings and stuff but this year Ayu did do worse despite selling higher numbers. It doesn't matter who the competition is. Remember Ayu only gets no.1's these days due to a lack of tough competition (and there're plenty these days).
