I LOVE ANGELA!

HOLY CRAP~ this is the best album I've ever heard. I love every single song in this album, i'm NOT kidding. Every song is like a song from a single.

This whole album is composed and written by Angela Aki herself, except for the composition of "Kiss me Good-bye" which was composed by Nobuo Uematsu. Well, this is the big secret that makes an album perfect: originality. Every song is made by the control of Angela Aki, which is the very essence of music. "宇宙 (Uchuu)", is a perfect example. The modulation and the tempo change is included and most often, artists never take the risk of doing this.

Above all the technical music composition, her voice is indeed the center of attention. Her voice can be described as angelic and enjoying. She can reach all the high notes without straining, which is often the flaw of other inexperienced artists. Angela's voice touched my heart and I would like to stress that out.

My other favourite artists can never reach this level of complexity and flawlessness. Ayu is far from this level. Most of the time, I would never waste time typing blogs and blogs of review, but this is my all-time favourite album and I'd just like to spread the love of this underrated artist.

The only other artist that I can think of comparing Angela to is Hikki, and I think that Angela is WAY more "real" than Hikki -- most refer to Hikaru as "the real thing," but most of her new stuff is so computer-generated especially when compared to Angela's. Angela's work sounds so down-to-earth, and her voice is by far, superior to Hikaru's. I hope that Angela can debut at No. 1 and stay there even when Hikki's album debuts. Angela's album is by far, much more superior than hers. I would love for Angela to go far. We're seeing the "next generation," my friends. Angela Aki I guess is the new Utada Hikaru and Yuna Ito would be the new Hamasaki Ayumi-type. However, there is one BIG thing keeping them from the popularity status of Hikki and the iconic status of Ayu -- confidence. When I see Angela perform [ooh and Yuna too, omg she lacks a lot of confidence -- more than Angie XD] I get the feeling that she's still a bit uncomfortable, though I must say, not quite as uncomfortable as Ito-chan.

Anyway, I wish Angela all the best with her new album and hope she can take the J-pop industry by storm!

Celaphorce 12th June 2006 02:14 AM

I hope her label doesn't try to change her image with her second or third album, I hate it when that happens, like with Namie Amuro(but it was good that she was changed)anyways she went from slow songs, and temp. dance songs to Hip-Hop(Hip-Pop).

I got teary-eyes from just hearing the last song of the album: "Your Love Song"
especially the long notes that she holds... It's just impossible how angelic and touching her voice can reach out to her audience.

the only live song she has performed was This love at MS.. it was her first time on tv.. c'mon give her a chance of course she would be uncomfortable.. even Ayu was like that when she sang her first songs in Tv ( the moon album ones)
but still she performed that song WAY better than ayu has ever done in MS... cuz angela is a musician... and ayu is a pop singer.. thats the main difference.. and of course this album is better than hikki ( although i love UB), angies music is like no other so you cant really compare..i hope too that her album ranks No.1 but i think its not gonna happend since hikkis album drops the same day.. lets just support Angie then .. but 100 copies XD XD (i bought 2 limt.edition copies XD)

i love the song Home.. but specially the part when she says "Home is calling" i dunno what kind of meaning that has to me but i moved some deep emotions within me..

i love Angie

i think not.. shes the kind of singer that does what she wants. since she wrote and compose the music and lyrics for her album.. so i believe they wont change this style.. it all depends on how much sales "home" makes.. if its a banger then they will keep it.. if not maybe they try to change it.

Singing live is just a test or exam for an artist (except it's scarier by 100 times because of the audience)... so I think it's normal to be nervous and uncomfortable.
The most important thing is that the emotions in the artist's music can convey to the audience in the most comfortable way during recording. If an artist can't even bring out the best of her emotions even if he/she is his/her comfort zone, then they are not considered an artist at all.

i agree

i wonder who is angies producer.. cuz that man is a Genius , He/she can catch Angie's Emotions into the recording

I can't imagine Angela singing hip-hop or rap. That'll be a nightmare of my life, if that ever happens of course.

She is cute, even though she's not one of those artist who gets people go googoo-gaga about their image.

Angela Aki really rocks! I think her album sounds GREAT! It's like every single track up there is totally A side quality! The piano, harmony! Argh, it's amazing! I rate the album like 7/5! It's PERFECTION! It's really been a LONG time since I've heard anything that good which touches me totally! (ok, maybe I'm just a HUGE fan of music to do with the piano) Still, Angela Aki's really a great and upcoming artiste! Her music is incredibly good!

However, I realise she often gets mentioned more about her being of both Japanese and American heritage than the true focus being placed on her music. Ok, maybe it's just a debut thing? But I'm definitely into her and I don't know, she rocks! Great composition, coupled with NO horrendous engrish and an angelic melodious voice! Argh, I can't wait to start a correspondence with her!

I can see she's still very sincere in making music and I hope she strikes it HUGE! Yup, she definitely beats Hikki totally! Diva of the Piano! I'm going crazy now, her album is so worth the listen, I think if you don't get it it's probably going to be one of the greatest regrets you're ever going to have.

I so agree~!
I love the harmony too. I'm so glad that she made the harmony so full (at least I think she also create the harmony too). I think it's all done by the piano, basically. I'm also in love with piano-accompanimented songs~

ditto on the English vs. Engrish part.
