I would hope that there'd be a DVD release or Japanese TV broadcast if Gackt were to perform in the states! I'd love to see how his English has improved since he seems to have a knack for linguistics (excluding any English in his songs). He's quite fascinating so I'd pay to see him for sure.

OMG OMG OMG!! It would be cool if he came to San Francisco...and I could drag my friends with me...

YAY! me=Happy

She also was in California.. right?

Unless she's never done the Hollywood Bowl performances..

[SE7EN, DBSK, Bi, and others have been there though..]

As much as I love love love Gackt (he and Hyde are tied for my favorite jrockers^_^) I really have to question his concert dvds. They do appear to be heavily edited to me. Especially in the encores where he is breathing very heavily between songs and looks like he is about to faint, yet as soon as the song starts, all breath sounds are gone and he is singing as perfectly as ever. :) I don't think he lip synchs in his concerts but I do think they edit his vocals for the dvd to make them more "perfect." So I generally just judge Gackt by the TV performances that he is obviously singing live on. He still sounds amazing, just not as absolutely perfect as the DVDs would lead you to believe.

lol i hope Gackt gets weirder and comes to Kentucky lol...i could actually see him...but, there would only be like 7 people there at the concert LOL...me, touchedstar, i could prolly drag xilirationisfun there (unless he already likes Gackt), and my mom would go with me cuz shes afraid i'll get kidnapped or something...and maybe a few more people would go lol.

Now that you say it, that's very likely. The DVD is edited - no doubt, all DVD releases are - but to what extent? The problem with a head mic is that if it's too close to your mouth your breathing will be heard very loudly. There is one concert where Ayu is using a head mic through a few songs and her breathing is heard in an annoying way, she seems bothered by it and is trying to adjust it now and then, it's from one of her older ones. It was a long time ago I last watched a Gackt performance, but I vaugely remember that he adjusts his head mic at those occassion, you can probably correct me if I'm right or wrong on this.

I've only seen a few of his TV live performances and it was a so long time ago that I can't really remember if he sounded different in those.

Comparing Ayus TV performances to her concerts there's a notable difference, but I don't think it's only the DVDs editing that create all of this difference. I belive she is warming her voice up a lot more before concerts than when shes going on TV.

On the DVD editing, looking at the TV version of CountDown Live 05-06 you can barely hear the audience at all, cheering or singing, just like when you are in the arena, all those sounds die away in the extreme sound level. But on the DVD they have edited this sound so that you can hear better how much noise the audience actually is making. Also, Ayumis voice is a lot clearer on the DVD, but other than it being clearer I don't think there's very much difference in how she is sounding. Maybe I should watch the TV version again, it was a long time ago.

Do you agree with me when I say, there's nothing what-so-ever that beats mirror live :)?

Mirai Noah 11th July 2006 05:30 PM

I will totally go see Gackt if he has a concert close to where I live.

Hazuki 11th July 2006 05:47 PM

I'm still waiting for something in Montreal.

Possibly, the only thing we've had in connection to Anime/Jmusic was the Otakuthon.

HvnSntGurl 11th July 2006 08:18 PM

I do hope I'll be able to see him.

Hazard 11th July 2006 08:22 PM

*speechless* I want him to come to the US. I would go anywhere in the states to see him! :heart

I think you are refering to the CDL 02-03 - specifically durring the performance of Everywhere Nowhere. That DVD is deceiving as well. :) She was not fiddling with it because of breath sounds and what not, she was fiddling with it because the mic cut out completely. It went off and on throughout the whole song. What is on the DVD is a completely replaced audio track.

Well, that's how you know that Gackt's DVDs are edited. Between the songs where he is using a headset mic, you hear breathing sounds very heavily but as soon as the song starts those sounds entirely dissappear.

Correction: There is nothing better than seeing Gackt perform Mirror live and falling off-stage. :)

That clip cracks me up everytime. I just wish I could find a higher quality version of it. He just gets up as if nothing ever happened and that was no short fall either. :) If you listen closely, you can hear him say he is alright to a staff member.

Now that is an example of a real live performance while using a headset - you can clearly hear the differences between how he sounds durring the actual performance and how the DVD sounds.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yLbNh...h=gackt%20fall (the fall happens around 2:05)

Haha, that's true. On the better quality version, I had some svcd version of that performance that I got a very long time ago it was either 1*700MB or 2*700MB (bad memory, deleted it quite some time ago due to storage space issues), I don't know if you consider that better quality :). It's on the DVD aswell, right?

Thanks for informing me on cdl 02-03, it was a long time ago since I watched it and when I did was before I knew about the troubles during this performance.

Whoa, that's pretty cool. It'll be interesting to see...although, I can already see a few die-hard fans being all "NOOOO TOO MANY PEOPLE LIKE GACKT" or something..I dunno...that seems to be the 'feeling' with fans of Dir en Grey (since Dir en Grey seems to be trying to break into the US market now).

Devil Ayu 13th July 2006 10:25 AM

Uhh can't wait-I live in germany!^^

chocopockymaster 13th July 2006 01:18 PM

I would go anywhere in the Un-tied States to see him...I really hope he comes! I smell a group trip with me and my friends who are also really big fans...<3~

Heh, I can't hide it, I would have the same feeling about Ayumi if she ever tried to go worldwide mainstream... Hearing her all the time on the radio and hearing teenage girls talking about cute Ayu would drive me crazy.

I prefer Asian music magic to stay a mystery for the vast majority. I feel blessed as one of those who "know".

I guess this gives you a sort of understanding for why Ayus popularity seem to degrade in Japan, where this has been going on for over 8 years :P.
