I remember when I called Avex when I was in Japan last year and they were really nice. They told me to send in a demo (I didn't have the resources then though)

I'm glad you had a good experience. I got in to a fight with the person on the phone. It was horrible. :headache

The cute oniisan at the initial counter was very, very nice, though, and helpful. He made a bunch of phonecalls for me and gave me numbers and stuff. I wish I had talked to him more... There is a Choco-Cro right next door to Avex... should have brought him coffee and a muffin.

Hehe, good luck Jaro! Darn, wish I had known about this before :( But..yeah, no time for it...

What happened exactly? I remember when I called them last year and like you, I thought the initial staff was helpful and nice, but then once it got to the people I needed to talk to they seemed, I don't know, very "snippy" or something.

I think JE is pretty easy to get into.
Most JE stars just send in their profiles and stuff and they got in..,
As for me...I wanna be an idol, Hello Project, sure.
But the sucky thing is that I'm not Japanese.>_<

ehh..so how can foreigners audition for Avex? Is it possible?

i do too!!!!!! right now all i do is sing to j-pop songs but when i turn 18 i want to move to japan and become a jpop star.

Dustie 14th July 2006 07:14 PM

oh wow, I see there's plenty of people who want to be stars... gee...

Anyway, I didn't know some people here actually tried hooking up with Avex. Too bad the phone calls didn't really turn out well :P I think it could've been the gaijin thing. I guess it's better when they can check out your looks or voice right away -- thus demo tapes or portfolios would probably meet with nicer reception rather.

And don't be scared about the form. It's really easy to check the kanjis and memorize the ones for 'name' 'surname' and such, they're kinda basic after all... as for language... yeah, it's better to understand them or at least have a translator by your side ;)

I wonder what's the difficulty level... I mean, how many people come to the auditions and how many are actually talented. Since it's so easy to audition and there's so many of them, isn't there like tones of Idol wannabies?... Watching Pop Idol auditions or Making the Band auditions and seeing all the crowds makes me dizzy x__X

orenji_jaro 14th July 2006 08:09 PM

It wasn't the Gaijin thing. I was actually speaking to a Gaijin that works at the company. :) He just told me to go ahead and send in a demo (didn't have the resources to make one then though) but the way he was talking came off as very annoyed or something. Maybe he was havinga bad day :shrug

Of course it is. Every entertainment agency in Japan is constantly looking for foreigners to be models, actors, dancers, singers etc. It really helps though if you are a caucasion foreigner.

aww. I'm asian. lol

Ayu_Fan_00 14th July 2006 11:22 PM

I would join or try to be apart of it but I don`t live in Japan and I don`t know Japanese. Not yet at least.

Dustie 15th July 2006 10:39 AM

Well I'll be doing a shot as soon as I land in Japan. Until then I should be able to communicate at least on the basic level... I just hope there'll be more options for me than just sticking my butt into Silent Library or such to make a fool out of myself :P

Anyways, good luck Orenji. I hope you will get through.

BTW, what do they do if you pass the audition? They sign you up right away or just put you into their 'database' or smth?...

orenji_jaro 16th July 2006 12:24 AM

i dont knwo but if i get into audition i might get like what happen to AAA or soemthing.. i mgiht end up first in backstage liek dancer or singers. then they might think og getting somepeople to make then a new group of avex artist

And you're packed up with Japanese language so I think it's not hard to enter the audition.
