I have dreams of becoming a music video director, but seriously, with expenses that high, how does Wataru Takeishi even make a profit. I know Ayu sells very well, but enough to cover him? I'm not really sure how it works. It just makes that whole business seem terribly risky.

Uhh...I don't know about Only Asian with World's most expensive PVs...this list is by far incomplete and the only thing factual could be said is "The listings of most expensive PVs on Wikipedia has three videos by ayumi" If we were to actually spend time and put an effort into seeing who's cost is what and what, then we'll see. I mean Koda and BoA has some nice videos...maybe 300k...still, lol. Even Utada has a half a million PV (YMMWTBAM)

What makes fairyland so expensive? it's an island, a house and nothing more :/

i don't know how much i trust these statistics cause they're wikipedia but still, Ayu does like a lot of "glamorous" things now and that whole style. Notice how all of the PVs are relatively recent for her.

those expensive PVs really deserves million sellings, but the only PV that (the album) sold a million was my name's WOMEN...

I wonder if the PV's fail and they have to repeat it again?

The inflation probably went up on MJ's video so even if it was an accurate price, it would actually be totally diffrent.

Yeah...but the thing is, MNW was released AFTER the album released...

And on the fairyland business...I highly doubt she'll build something so it can burn down, I'm sure that it's been kept and only the unneeded part was burnt. That's a lot of money-wasting if it was real that she burned it, I'm certain someone wouldn't have mind living there.

Well, I'm not sure what happened to it, but my friend's friend's dad was the architect heading the project for the cabin.. and I don't think it's there anymore..

If I can remember exactly, it was the set and lighting that made it expensive, plus makeup for both Janet and Michael. I've read an article about those most expensive videos (the one by TLC was actually made expensive becouse they changed the concept for the video many times, and Will Smith's video was expensive becouse it used loads of morphing transitions which apparently cost a lot).

Well, if people actually read the posts they'd see why Ayumi's videos were really expensive, these ones at least. So for everyone wondering why fairyland was so expensive, PAY ATTENTION GOD DAMMIT!

Look at the set. It was built from scratch. Look at the background, all those things would have cost a bundle to put together, did anyone miss the chandeliers? Make up artists... all the guys are wearing make-up too, and seeing as this is entertainment, they hire only the best. Look at the extras, each one of them is in a unique outfit, more costs. I'm pretty sure that all the drinks were actual wines too... =D.. if you're going to build a set.. might as well throw a party while you're at it. Choreographers for the dance sequences. I'm pretty sure that the number of cameras used was also quite phenomenal... The video was nearly 10 minutes long too. The amount of film that it takes to make a 10 minute video clip would astound you =)

To me, the video screams glamour.

Right from the start, it screamed expensive. The island, hiring it out for a video shoot would not be cheap, let alone hiring it out for a whole week. Did anyone else also think that helicopters were used to film a lot of it? Don't tell me it doesn't cost much to hire out a helicopter. Costume design, and if they were there for a week, the cost of accomodation, food, drinks, and looks like they also had time to party. Yes, they did build that wooden shack, and yes, they would have had to get someone to actually design it, and then burn it down, safely, would have cost extra money.

If you're still in doubt, think about the movies that cost over 300 million to make....

The jewels alone already cost them 800million yen. Obviously the CG sequences aren't real diamonds. But I'm sure that the ones she holds and the ones at the start are real. If you're still in doubt, think about how much a 1 carat diamond costs alone. And look at these things at the start. One of the costumes also was quite elaborate... I duno, again this video is just glamour all round.

btw, this list is far from complete.. but these days most videos are made for less than 500k.

I think it's because Ayu is rich and she has a large market share, that's why people invest in her and get returns. Other artists are not as famous I feel.
