Secret.

Black cherry is not bad, but when it is to be compared with Secret. It loses.

Ku's album aint bad..its fresh, Get Up&Move!!! & PUPPY are my fav new songs...because they are upbeat..something Ayu doesnt always do..these r&b stuff...

Ku's rock is definetely not as gd as Ayu's.

Ballads wise..both are gd and bad pts. Ayu's wan lack bridge and her ballads this time round are calmer but somewhat powerful too. Ku's vocals aint that gd on her ballads but still acceptable to be (ballads i mean Yume no Uta & Unmei..the rest mehh)

Ku has more variety which makes the album not flow well..Ayu has a focused album and flows well. Ku overuses Eng in her songs and AYu has a just right amt..

BUT ku's album didnt really disappoint me though i was looking forward to it because i really like most of the single tracks...but those tracks i dont like..forget them...it will make both albums just as awesome...

Hence, going by the number of MEMORABLE tracks, Secret WINS

Secret. Black Cherry was such a disappointment, as much of a Kumi fan as I am. :( :( :(

Black Cherry by a bit. Secret's album tracks were pretty good but I felt that there was a "umph" factor in BC that wasn't in Secret.

Black Cherry has some good track. 1 or 2, but then, the other, since were released in her singles, and which I didn't like that much, so actually, there's not much songs that I live from Kuu's new album.
But SCRET is soo good!! I like it a lot!

Wow, one thing I have learned in life is, experiment the things on your own instead of just passively listening to others. By reading the coments about Black Cherry, I was indeed expecting a totally awful album. I was actually scared to listening to the WON'T BE LONG Black Cherry Ver. That song actually doesn't sound a quarter bad as some of the comments make it sound. I kinda like it, and it's "urban" feel (a la "Heat" and "JUICY") does a good follow up for JUICY. I've learned to like the 4 HOT WAVE songs, specially "I'll be there".
And c'mon this album has the best song released in 2006: "koi no tsubomi", I just love that song to death! This album already gets a 10 from me just because it has that song, no matter how much the others might suck heh.

Not saying this album is the better than Secret (I only still listened to it up to track 12), but I sincerely hope you guys didn't first listen to this album (BLACK CHERRY) directly comparing it to ayu's Secret as that would be kinda stupid. Both albums sound so different. I don't critize comparing both, just hoping no one listened to BLACK CHERRY for the first time directly comparing it to ayu's Secret.

That´s not fair. It´s not like they sing the same kind of music to compare. Ayu´s Secret is just a pack of updated songs such as Evolution, M, Independent, (Carols - moments - no way to say)

I know it's not fair. Both albums are very different. The comparisons would be made anyway:headache
Also, you complain, but you're comparing. Some of the songs in BLACK CHERRY were upgrades too. The INTRODUCTION sounds like all her other introductions. Get Up&Move!! has elements of both Candy and JUICY. unmei is an upgrade of Gentle Words. Both albums are EVEN in that aspect.

it's been going on ever since the beginning of 2006.
yes they have different styles of music, but they're both similar to the fact that they're two of the biggest Japanese music acts in the world.
a title like that is bound to cause some comparison.

Secret just clicked the moment I heard Not yet, and continued to please until the final song

I said ayu did a pack of upgrades but it was not an offence. Kumi did that too. Its their style of song.... It´s not gonna change too much from what we aready know so.....

Too bad. Considering this is an Ayu forum, you can expect a giant amount of votes on Secret. Both albums may be great to each of the fans. Secret may appeal much to Pop-Rock lover Ayumi Hamasaki fans. While Black Cherry may appeal much to Urban R&B Pop Koda Kumi fans. You can expect a lot of bad reviews from this forum, why? Because majority is Ayumi Hamasaki fans. Who OF COURSE prefer Secret. They have to ensure their queen have most votes. (And also, because their musical preference is of course, Ayumi Hamasaki)

You can see how impressed those Koda Kumi fans with Black Cherry. Because their musical preferences are to Koda. If we put similar poll, I'm sure Black Cherry will conquer Secret.





So...........an accurate poll comparing J-Pop artist, shouldn't be done in any specific artist forum. Where's the fairness in that?

Well, I don't like these comparisons either. But some people here have listened with proper attention to both albums and given an honest opinion. Just because the majority won't bother to make it proper, doesn't mean everyone will do so ;)

i actually like "Black Cherry". :] i wasn't expecting much, but it turned out great! same thing happened to me with Ayu's "Secret" too, LOL. both have their stand out tracks ("Get Up&Move!!" and "kiss o' kill") and not so good ones ("With your smile" & "Beautiful Fighters").

i choose "Secret" though. it had a stronger "WOW" factor to me. most of the songs off "Black Cherry" were released as singles! i think it would've been better if "Cherry Girl/Unmei" wasn't released prior. the album would've been more "fresh".

but i think i like both albums quite equally.
