she does it sometimes good and sometimes bad :yes
|
|
it's alright but not when it's used too much in a song,
|
everybody is doing the vibrato thing at the moment. I suppose it's meant to add some 'uniqueness' to the performance & also it's said to be lot easier & less-taxing on the voice to use vibrato than not to.
I personally still think Ayu's vibrato is tolerable eventho I'm hoping she'd tone it down a bit. I don't wanna mention names but I've heard a lot worse in a recent tour live of another big j-pop star which really dissapointed me :( |

There is definately a time to use a little vibrato (a little, mind you) and a time to have a straight tone. My issue is that Ayu uses a lot of vibrato all the time and it ruins the mood of many of her ballads and makes it seem like she doesn't know what the correct note is.

Vibrato? o.O

okay probably not, her vibrato didn't really used to bother me, it really doesn't....I noticed she started doing it again...but I was just like what the hell, I don't care. kodayumi:vibrato (I can't believe I've started using this site regularly...i wonder whose fault that is...:laugh) |
I love it.. and I don't think she's necessarily doing it directly with her jaw.. Some people like to move their jaw even though they're doing it with their vocal cords in order to keep the flow of the vibrado going out in the right pattern.. And some people's jaws just move when they do it without even thinking about it.. I don't care what she's doing, whatever it is - I like it.

Reflex action, i learnt this in biology. :D
|
It's fine with me. That shows her uniqueness and I like her doing this vibrato.. She used quite alot of the vibrato in evolution and surreal live performances, didn't she? I really enjoyed these performances. But I heard from people that it's quite harmful to your vocal and throat...
|
She could do a natural vibrato back in 2003, now she just relies on her jaw. I guess it's easier for her voice, maybe..?
|
It sounds like someone is jabbing her throat to death
|
she's not the only one. for example, K
here's a performance of only human [yes, that 1 litre of tears song] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uGnkyKbeqwg he uses his jaw when using vibrato as well and his vibrato is very nice |
I like it sometimes but i wish she would go back to her old vibrato during the Loveppears - I am... period
|
i like her vibrato..
it's just like the old japanese traditional singers always do on singing.. ayu's voice is so full of energy.. *i really love how she sang teens & HEAVEN at AT 06..* so cool! |

yeah she's got the vibrato like A. powers got mojo... but it's a bad exemple : here she doesn't move her jaw ! |
Sometimes se really overdo it
but I think that she really does a great job guys vibrato has some 'function' 01. showing how u can really manage your breath/sing/technique 02. showing that u are singing LIVE (sometimes) 03. Showing that you can do improvisation 04. showing that sometimes you are out of breath so you shorten it for mw...who always sing ayu's song LOL and karaoke so often I understand which part she used to do those vibratos and why |
I like her vibrato, it's personal :shrug
