I agree. I doubt it's a word she picked out of some dictionary...

Though, It does seem like its supposed to mean 'alternate/alternative' or 'something different that what we see'

Well, that does make sense: Something different then what we see

I mean, look at the lyrics and the PV

I thought that was a English word, but...

I'm study Latin:

Alternus - Alterna - Alternum

It mean "alternative", "alternate", "one after other"... sometimes "reciprocal"... etc.

Alterna can be singular femenine or plural neuter :P

Alterna loqui = have a conversation

for a while I've been thinking it had to do with the song falling in the "Alternative" category since it sounds like that to me in New York I passed by a store called Alterna

I always thought of it as sort of like an alternate reality, other than the norm.

so i think "alterna" means alternatives

yeah..i asked my brother and he said that 'alterna' means search for another alternatives..choice another way something like that

AyuHamasaki01 28th April 2007 07:32 AM

yeah, I mean... if you look in a dictionary the only thing that looks like Alterna is alternate

terra 28th April 2007 08:52 AM

Well, IMO 'alterna' is related to the first part of the lyric, as it is stated...

If you are afraid of changes
Watch me at a distance
Whether or not I may do something
I'm talked about behind my back
Let it be

For me, Ayu kinda developped the feeling of

"I'm changing (not as popular as before) but some people doesn't accept that as they deny it and force Ayu to fit in on to the situation, acting as 'not Ayu'. But she resist and being talked beacuse of her 'stupidity', whether she would be dumped or not..."

The thing is Ayu always sing that 'being ourselves is the best way, better than pretending to be someone' and she reflects the feeling of being wasted and neglected because of being different. As she will cahnges all the thibngs frightens her as she could so that her 'change' will stand up, and show thet this is the real me, accept me as I am
