I haven't read this translation yet, I read the original text...

If it's not in quotes, it's the author of the article/interviewer.

If it is in quotes, sometimes the Japanese substitute their actual name for a pronoun, so in a way, maybe she is.

I'm a bit surprised that some people don't know actually. (especially you, since you said you've been a fan since 2001...) but anyways, it is a very very famous thing in Japan and among Ayu fans that have watched her live performances and interviews that Ayumi always refers to herself in the third person. Some people think it is cute/charming while others think it's just stupid and a ploy to get people to think she is cute/charming. :) Ayu claims to have done it since childhood though and no one ever really corrected her.

Anyways, thanks for another great translation Isaac!

That's why she talks about herself in third person.
It's a habit of a lot of japanese~

Actually it's not, at least not in my experience. If someone always uses their name in the third person, like Ayu does, most people would generally call that person an idiot in Japan. Maybe to say it once for clarity sake some people will do it, but not in the fashion that Ayu does. If you look at Ayu's early era talks on Music Station, Utaban, etc. the hosts always got on her about doing that. Now people just let it slide because they are all so used to her doing it.

“Music is so magical. When I listen to the song, all those sceneries like the temperature, the wind and of course the exhaustive feeling comes back to me like a movie. The memory itself always accompanies with the music.”
I love this paragraph.. I feel the same way as ayu.. My memories have their own theme song or soundtrack like in a movie... ohhh ayu...

I always face my fans with honesty. I never lied to them and sadly to say, it is very hard to achieve that judging by the world that I am currently in. But I never did compromise. Maybe that’s why I felt stronger. That ‘strength’ does not only apply to protecting me, but also to everyone.”
That's the one why I really love Ayu most.
I think she's the artist who uses honesty to her music and her fans around.

The Music is so magical. It will always show up, accompanying your memories. You will definitely remember the smell of the wind that time whenever you listen to a particular song, right?
This part is soooooo true. Constant memories float to the surface when listening to certain songs. I remember exactly what I was doing while certain songs are on. I can even remember the season, and the chill in the air. Just the other day a fragrance hit me while listening to forgiveness, And I stopped and wondered exactly where this scent came from. Later when I was home while searching through some fragrance sprays I have. I found it "dew honey" I use to wear it years ago. Back when forgiveness first came out ^_^ It can be very nostalgic :)
