i'm assuming it will eventually factor in digital sales as well (which would give even songs like Daikkirai Demo Arigatou by Thelma Aoyama much higher positions, as it is currently the #1 digital track on iTunes Japan.)

I guess if you include airplay and digital sales, it'll be another story. Personally I don't believe in airplay because it can be controlled by the radio station (yeah trust me, the people in higher positions can control what songs having higher rotations). But I agree that they should add digital downloads as well. I dunno how digital downloads can fuse with physical purchases... A cd may contain more than 1 songs, but usually people only download the most important track of that single online. Nonetheless, there must be a way to include digital downloads (just full song please, no ringtones) into the oricon charts.
I think Oricon have a bold statue in Japan, which Billboard cannot destroy it easily. I really have no idea why they set up Billboard in this country.. :shakehead
