I agree completely. I don't like the whole feminine-looking guys. Like most JE guys. Ew.

That's why I prefer Korean male actors. At least they are manly. Oh yeah, and at least they have a man's body. Japanese guys are so skinny and fragile-looking. LOL.

But these are of course mainly women that are going to vote for this, not men and the softer look is what women are often attracted to. However, that said, there are a few on the list that I would consider "manly." Even some of the Johnny's. It's not just women that like Takuya Kimura, but men too - he and Fukuyama Masaharu both have a man's man type of image going on.

Japanese have different standards for beauty, I guess. I would NEVER consider Kou Shibasaki beautiful. She freaks me out.

That's only because of some of her roles. She is great at playing a psycho. :) Looks wise though, she is a very classic type of Japanese beauty.

Yeah, I'm actually re-watching one of his dramas (Sora Kara Furu Ichioku Hoshi, highly recommended if you haven't seen it). And damn he is fine. He's not hot in a typical way though, he has a more unique hotness to him.

I can totally understand why Japanese women to this day hate Kudo Shizuka for taking him off the market. :)

vampireknightzero 28th April 2009 12:57 PM

hyde is really beautiful~~ still rmb the Vivid Colors Music station performance..he looks so pretty in it! so rare that a guy is able to be so pretty..haha.

Aisha_Angel 28th April 2009 01:07 PM

I don't know ANY of the female celebrities...

But congrats to Gackt, Hiro, Hiroki and Koichi! ^____________^ they totally deserve to be on this list.

a_kingdom21 1st May 2009 02:47 AM

it's so unfair if it were based on traditional beauty..
the men rank arnt traditional look just like hyde n gackt..
n bout JE i dunt like almost all their pinky boy except kimu-taku..
he's hot..
but when it goes to female it should have been traditional..

Oh, I was just ranting, of course. Still, it's a trend that I to this day cannot fathom. Do women actually find these kinds of soft men sexually attractive? Is it because they are so non-threatening?

Then again, I was head over heels into Gackt at some point in my life. That phase was quickly dispensed with, however. If I remember, I was really young when that happened. Maybe it's a matter of growing up?

I agree about Takuya Kimura and Masaharu Fukuyama. Very good choice of men.

Yeah, thank God for Korean and Chinese male actors. A lot of manly men among them.

We looked over a study in our Psychology class where these digitally altered images of a man and a woman were side by side. There was a feminine version of the male next to a more masculine version of himself.

This study was to show which versions of the man and women were more likely to be a one night stand and which were more likely to be viewed as marriage material.

The feminine looking version of the male was chosen the most to be marriage material. Women like men who look like they'd be good fathers, look like they'd be more involved in the relationship deeply and look sensitive and the like.

And if you're curious, the more feminine female was chosen for one night stands while the less effeminate female was chosen as marriage quality.

We took a poll before the results were revealed. I got the male right, but the female wrong.

SunshineSlayer 2nd May 2009 07:04 AM

^ haha, that is very interesting. :)

Uemarasan 4th May 2009 05:54 PM

^Saw a similar study on Discovery Channel some time ago, but the difference was that when women were ovulating, they were more attracted to men with masculine features, but when they weren't ovulating, they were more attracted to men with feminine features.

At least the body still knows what's good for the baby! :P It's just natural: survival of the fittest.

zyoeru 5th May 2009 11:29 AM

Sorry, but Gackt is gorgeous. :)
I have to disagree, Gackt is pretty much Japanese traditional beauty. The Japanese (even Koreans and Chinese) usually value "feminine" beauty in males. The poll is asking who is the most beautiful. Not who is the sexiest. Which is why feminine men are on the list, because they're beautiful. XD
