There are no subtitled DVDs (never mentioned them).

However, there are fan subtitled works which are just as good.

alternarist 4th June 2009 05:35 PM

^ then cant i mention it?

:)

That would be cool if they did that though. It would never happen of course. Only if Avex found out Ayu had a HUGE fanbase here in the US.

For me, I really like them. Her performances are great without them, but they bring so much more emotion to the floor when you know what she's saying. For example, even without the subtitles, her Memorial Address live performance at Arena Tour 03-04 is stellar and emotional without the lyrics, but with them I just fall into tears.

If you're showing a live to someone else, though, I'm not sure if I like having lyrics or not. This is due mostly to the person focusing more on the subtitles than the actual concert. It's like watching a movie with subtitles: you have to put more effort into understanding what's being said, you you don't have the time to soak in the visuals. :shrug

It's so beautiful! OMG! It totally enhances the performance for me..

Has anyone seen/experienced this? Jesus, it's amazing, haha.

The talking shows so much personality that you really cant capture if you dont know the language and have no lyrics.

Moreover, sometimes even if you know the language, colloquial words are so fast pronounced that you can't catch it anyway, no? :dead2

Choyan 5th June 2009 02:02 PM

yea I prefer to understand everything from start to finish, song and mc AS it is performed/played~ it's like
"oh, THAT's why she goes point" or why she pushes her hand out~ LOL XD yes~

ah~ soft sub~ soft sub :D~ XD turn them on and off XD~~

RikkuChii 5th June 2009 09:05 PM

I really do. It tends to make me love a song way more (Like M). That, and I can finally see what they're talking about in the MC's.

pUrpLeSn0w 6th June 2009 04:35 AM

yeah yeah it would be great to have subtitles..especially the MC part where they were all laughing.. coooool~~

i wanna know what they're laughing about!!! w/o having to look at the translation given when you buy the dvd anyway!!!

Larien 6th June 2009 09:49 PM

Definetly agreed. AT07 did it for me, too, especially with kiss o' kill, because that's one of my favorite performances (Evolution, too!).

nemesisyume 7th June 2009 12:11 AM

yes I love it when there's english subtitles!
omg I cried like 5 times when I watched CDL 05-06 with subs :laugh

Hey~the latest HK version of PCDL 2008-2009 DVD has subtitle in Chinese!
I guess this is the first subtitled DVD ever released officially......
(I know some VCD in the past has subtitle as well, but I forgot which one)

kirei_ayumi 7th June 2009 08:23 PM

it's definitely much better and helpful because i don't know a lick of Japanese.
so hopefully ayu will look into english subs for future DVDs

not really...since I don't really care...

I could just as easily watch her perform without any subtitles at all...which is what I've been doing since I became a fan...so...

yeah. For me it really makes no difference.

I think it actually helps. Some people get easily bored when they don't understand what the artist is singing/saying.

I've showed subtitled concerts to my friends, and they enjoy them much more.

In my case, i love subtitles. I'm actually making subtitles for PCDL right now (only the singing parts tho). Hopefully i'll be done in a few days ;).

zyoeru 8th June 2009 09:37 AM

Sometimes it's better, sometimes it isn't. Like on Youtube there's some nice videos with good quality subs in yellow. I really like those.

But then there's some that are just dreadful. As long as the concert and subs are HQ I don't care. ;D

ayuayu798 8th June 2009 09:51 PM

Yeah it's a lot better! I even start to lovesome songs that I never paid too much mind to before!
