does everyone here forget Yuna Ito. she is one of few artist who has very strong vocally and power
|
in the video of yuna+celine, celine obviously let to Yuna be the Star and she down her voice and powerful tone.
Misia i think is really close to an extra-ordinary voice...but not too perfect anyway cause she scream too much...are differences beetween a high note and a scream |
i forgot to mention Jane Zhang ^ ___ ^

Ayu scream alot lately. |
ayaka has a nice and deep voice. Stephanie has a 5-range octave and can hit the whistle note. Hidemi Uematsu has a powerful voice <3
alan can sing...But she has that typical J-Pop tone. The only thing that made her stand out was her wailing. |

You know... I don't think I really listen to any Japanese singers I would say are really great singers, or even near being comparable to Celine Dion. O__o The closest thing I can even think of would be ayaka, but I'm one of the few people who doesn't seem to be really all that crazy about/impressed with her vocal abilities. She's a good singer but she always sounds bored/bores me and I don't think the songs she sings really manage to show off her voice at all.
|
i would say ayaka and hitomi shimatani have very good vocal,
from most female singers i have listened to so far. |
if in j-pop case,,,
misia is great singer with 5 octav range vocal,,,, if the topic is asian singer with great voice in my country there's a diva called KRISDAYANTI she has a great voice imo,,,,:yes check it out |
Can't believe no one has mentioned these two: Shiho Ochida (Superfly) and NOKKO (in the 80s to early 90s)
Shiho has I think by far the best voice in j-pop/rock right now: Superfly performing Janis Jopelin's Piece of my Heart: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dKIh7...layer_embedded Nokko - Manatasu no Ame (1987) Very unfortunate that she damaged her voice later. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M0J-w...layer_embedded |
I think Wada Akiko's voice is so great, it's low, but when she goes high without her microphone, it's so great.

^ Oh yeah, she has an awesome voice!! Such an amazing tone. But I would have never thought of her, because I still can't think of that as a female voice...

utada hikaru
eri nobuchika jasmine crystal kay yuna ito |
Kokia, definitely. She has an operatic voice.
|
whoever mention Ayaka hirahara and Eri Nobuchika i agree with. same for Yuna Ito
i think Eiko Shimamiya has pretty nice voice too. |
I forgot to mention KOKIA (just say that someone said her name though, I applaud you). She can sing with a cute voice, regular voice, powerful voice, or her (AMAZING) opera voice. She has the best register out of any J-Pop singer, no doubt against that. If anyone would like to argument that then please show me who has a better register than KOKIA.
|
absolutely amazing bridge starts at 2:40 absolutely amazing and strong vocals.
I also think utada had a semi strong voice a few years ago. She did really well in passion with all that backup singing with the "aaahhhsss" in the background, screaming like lol. Not really anymore though. :/ |
koda kumi has a nice register imo, emi hinouchi has powerful pipes too
|
Wow Ayaka Hirahara....her voice is so nice. Don't listen to her much but isn't she like a one hit wonder? Her version of Jupiter lol...I didn't even know it was a cover. I think of the National Geographic intro when I think of Jupiter...
|
alan... omg i watched her concert last night and omg she is just so good
also koda kumi, this girl can go really low and then go falsetto very easily as well (moon crying for example *o*) |
