^^ Gotta aggree with ya.

And I'm also a big fan of Kumi, but I do prefer Nosheen's version for Physical thing, Kumi's is too plain for me [even though I really doubt Nosheen could make an awesome perfomance of Physical thing like Kumi]

As if this isn't the case for ayu. :rolleyes

I think more as the years have come on, she has expressed herself more as the artist she wants to be, instead of just doing what would sell. I think if she was just a product of Avex, she wouldn't be doing what she wants to do, Avex would just make her follow the trends to sell. :)

you are totally right :yes I think any real kuu fan knows this

In retrospect it really is and I can't believe I didn't hear it until you pointed it out. Lol

Tbh...Apart from the beginning when she started, where she just wanted to sing so Avex controlled her image, I don't think Kuu has ever been just a product of Avex. She has always done what she wanted to do, even in her secret era days, she got a lot of controversy for being too sexual, but she still did it and Avex let her do it, because she wanted to be sexy. And that's how it's been over all the years in her career to me. :)

I agree with your point and the way you look at her career. I just don't like some Koda Kumi's fan believes that I am coming here for trolling because I don't like her version of a song and I prefer the original version.

Such a snotty and pathetic generation-Me thinking.

Lady~Deviance 20th May 2012 06:38 PM

I also prefer Nosheen's original version of "Physical Thing" over Kuu's and always have. Nothing wrong with expressing your opinion in a civil manner. ;)

Anyway, I'm glad Kuu is taking it easy and she looks healthy. I can patiently wait for a new release. I just hope she uses this time to reinvent her sound and come back fresh. :yes

I think she was an artist, then she was a product, and now she's an artist again lol

Ayu_Love 20th May 2012 08:06 PM

I prefer Kuu's version of PT, because I just personally like her more rustic voice with it, and I have always loved the lives and outfits she has done for it, too! BUT I don't care for the PV that much. :)

It's like there's Kuu's version of 'Can We Go Back' and Kelly Clarkson's 'CWGB', again, I prefer kuu's version, only cause I love her voice with the song (I love kuu's rock songs, I think she suits them just as well as R'n'B!) and I also love the video. :D

I DO, however, think I like the voice of the woman on the demo of 'Just The Way You Are' maybe a little more than kuu's, her sweeter voice matches the song more. :) But I still think Kuu's version is very sweet!

Also, guys, I was thinking of doing some Koda Kumi make-up/hair tutorials for my blog once I have it up, it would be awesome if you guys could suggest to me what make-up and/or hair looks from Kumi you'd like to see me do, or any artist for that matter. :) Thanks! <3

For me, I'd say she was a singer, then a product, now an artist.

She even said she didn't really care what she sang at the beginning.

Nu Metal Remixes are :heart :heart
And Kuu's baby is almost here, yay

thats a better way to put it~

I'm glad nobody thinks Koda Kumi used to be a stripper, and then a singer, and now she is an artist.

ren'ai 21st May 2012 12:45 AM

^ since her ero-sexyness look came some time after her debut, that formula wouldn't work

Welurru 21st May 2012 02:58 AM

I never knew of this version of PT lol.
Anyone got a full list of Kumi songs with English equivalents (whether demos/covers) that are available to hear/dl?

I know of MORE, Run For Your Life, Just The Way You Are, Can We Go Back, Bounce, At The Weekend and now Physical Thing.

Also, anyone know where I can download? Used to have the Phrased Differently ones but a hard drive issue last year left me with just At The Weekend.

Queen Bee 21st May 2012 03:23 AM

^Lollipop is another one

happiholic★ 21st May 2012 04:40 AM

I'm curious about the Bounce original.

Overall, I don't really care about the "originals". They are usually just the demo versions and are never very polished. Its how the music industry works. As far as Physical Thing, they sound the same to me, just a different singer in a different language. I don't listen to that song a whole lot so... meh.

ren'ai 21st May 2012 02:14 PM

^ here's Bounce

The guy who co-wrote it also did Namie's LOVEGAME

Zeke. 21st May 2012 05:26 PM

God that version of Bounce is just terrible, lol.

kaled kalil 21st May 2012 06:40 PM

There is So Nice too, but the demo is bad as Lollipop demo.

And I also agree that Kumi was "a singer, then a product, now an artist."
In 2006 we can see that she didn't had any control of her career (except her image), it was too much things going on at the same time.
I think the scandal was kinda a good thing to her, since she found herself doing what she wanted to do and not following someones direction.

ALfromHELLSING 21st May 2012 07:11 PM

Never liked that version of Physical thing. Kumi's version turns me on when Nosheen's version turns me off. Her voice is squeaky & she looks like a cheap drug queen in that video. Dunno how can it sound/look hot. I might sound biased, but oh well I guess I am.

Funnies thing Kumi never wanted to be ero-kakkoi. avex pretty much forced her to be like that. I don't think she was very happy in 2006 after getting unofficial "shame of kyoto" award. No surprise she never performed JUICY again.
