Pulling out a mini-album that is more like a single and not even having a big chance of getting the #1 Avex probably seeks in order not to break her streak. I'm quite confuced. But the new song is growing on me so it might be fine anyway. I'm very excited for the other releases. There should be some singles hiding in there leading up to an album for next year, no?

I guess I thought you were saying "If Ayu releases a single it will appear on the next studio album"... :shrug

I think Ayu is able to be more conceptual by having this as a mini-album. It's a set theme.
It starts and ends with this release.

But a single tends to be continuation of things leading to a bigger release. The album tends to have the overall concept.

Perhaps she wanted this (and maybe more of the releases in this 5 month release?) to be independent from each other?

...or there's no reason other than to avoid making this a single.

That is apparently a good point! I have never thought about it. So these songs in LOVE probably would not be in her new album but it will be possibly showing in her BEST album.

3 songs is not a mini album. Especially looking at the amount of remixes on it! It is a single.

What's the point of protecting her single streak which won't be touched by another female artist for a while and it's not as if all 50 of her singles reached #1, that would be a streak worth protecting.

If I read the article correctly, it states that releases are, for no other reason, released the way they are in order to garner as many sales as possible within the Oricon week. Instead of honoring that form of release pattern, Ayu is honoring/commemorating the 8th of the month, her debut. The ranking is not important, but rather the day on which it is released.

She has also stated:
Rough translation? She wants to thank the fans who have followed her throughout the years by releasing a lot of new songs. And that she tends to enjoy every 8th of the month along with her fans.
