It seems puppy love just cuz we didn't hear anything about him for the almost-year they were together before getting married. We'd seen them being obviously cute in photos for awhile though.

I think they'll be fine at least for a few years - they got married for the right reasons. From the sound of that Vivi interview, she's able to just "exist" around him and do what she would normally do anyway. This relationship isn't exciting for her, it's just "nice." And that's definitely good.

I'm not sure it'll last too much longer just because he's still in his mid-20s and there's a TON of personal growth that happens around that time... he may change as he gets older and it may create a rift. But right NOW, I think it's actually a good, healthy relationship.

But Max has never referred to himself as her father figure or something, never calling himself this title, and the interview in 2004 says that she never knew if her father had died or not. I searched on Google too, and Ayu has always referred to him as "Max"...

I think that a lot thought Memorial address was about her father because the lyrics are like being sad that someone who she was angry with has died.

I'm absolutely convinced that a good deal of LOVEppears' lyrics are about Max... I think all of the A single came about because she told him she had feelings for him and he rejected her, and those lyrics (and the fact that she considered quitting singing around that time) came about due to her feelings after that. I also think "still alone" and "Over" are about that whole situation, too.

That gets into gossipy territory but I am totally on board with the rumors that they at least had a romantic flirtation going on, but he was married so he didn't return the affection, even though apparently he did really like her.

The only reason why I'm as sure of that as I am is because I have a "Max" who played a similar role in my life, and I was similarly rejected, and after that happened, oh my god so many things in those songs all seem to apply to my situation too. x_X

I always thought that the Ayu x Max thing was just a rumor that people made up. To hear actual fans say that they think it may be a real possibility... wow. If that is the case, its amazing that they seem to have remained good friends, when in some cases, a similar situation could destroy the relationship.

I completely agree with this. At the end of the day, if Ayu had to take a long break to spend time with her husband, I'd applaud her. I believe marriage could be a great thing if one is willing to do whatever necessary to keep it together.

Even if they did sleep together, it seems like it has been ok to ayu because that's what saved her on that time and he was actually nice to her and not a douch who took empty advantage on her.
