We... we have a Kokia thread and I didn't know about it?
All this time I could be obsessing with her on this site with other people since no one where I live even knows she exists and I didn't know about it? Damn, I'm late to the party. |
She has such a nice and pleasant voice. Just started to really listen to her discography and I'm enjoying it so far.
|
All hail Queen KOKIA!
My favorite performance of hers: I keep waiting for her to do concerts in Europe again... |
^ I can't tell you how many times I've watched that performance
But my favorite is: I live for that vocalization at 4:34 leading into the final choruses and just how into it she gets. So much freaking passion. You can tell near the last 'lalalas' she strains her voice but it still sounds so good!!! And Owlflight : I just saw you're from South Carolina. I hope you and your family/friends are safe from Hurricane Matthew. My brother lives on that side of the States (actually he's in Boston, but he and his girlfriend were visiting her parents in NC when they heard the news of the storms coming) and I know just how destructive/devastating it was. So I hope everyone over there got somewhere safe in time!!! Wish you all the best! |

Currently listening to COLOR OF LIFE. I am guessing that is a live album and she sounds fabulous. Her voice has this light yet powerful quality to it. I wonder what her vocal range is. |
^ That's good to hear!
And I think actually there's a video out there where she demonstrates her vocal range... but maybe that was Ayaka... they both have such powerful voices. Oh God, I just realized how much I'd love a duet from them. Anyway, if you listen to her do some of the opera songs, then you can really get a guess of how high and low she can go. If I remember that's what she primarily studied, so you know her singing range is off the charts. |
Yes! A duet would be awesome!
Today I'm listening to this song on loop: |
Just a question for everyone: what song of hers encouraged you to become a fan? Mine was Battle of Destiny!
|
^For me I can't really pinpoint one song but both versions of INFINITY, single mother, and EVE

本当の音 (Hontou no Oto)
For a long, long time my all time favorite Japanese song was Mai Kuraki's Secret of My Heart, for reasons that are too boring to disclose here. But I was looking for new music to listen to on youtube, typed in something like 'Beautiful Japanese Music' and that popped up and oh my gaaawd, Secret of My Heart fell down to second place immediately. Came to AHS found her discography (Thank God for Tomoyo xD) and downloaded pretty much everything right there and then. Battle of Destiny is a close second, though. Follow the Nightingale. I believe~海の底から~. EXEC_COSMOFLIPS (anyone have any idea why that song is called that? Cause I haven't a clue.) 大人のオオカミ (Otona no Ookami)... ...you asked for one song and I totally just gave you a mini-album's worth. :laugh 本当の音 (Hontou no Oto) That's it. That was the song. The end. :P |
Glad to see this thread so active. ^^
It's impossible for me to choose only one song. I started to listen to her with The VOICE. So it's the full album that turned me into a fan. I was charmed song after song. |
there are so many songs that i absolutely adore from her.
Fate Daybreak Battle of Destiny Road to Glory Il Mare dei Suoni Follow the Nightingale 穏やかな静けさ~浄歌 調和 Different Way Say hi! 天使 人間ってそんなものね and i'm probably missing a few there. But i think my all time favorite must be Exes_Cosmoflips/. that song is the epitome of fantasy. I adore every single note of it. Quote:
