glitter/fated was indeed a more mainstream single. But to me it's also a boring one. She has been following the same poppy summer song for three years long (fairyland --> BLUE BIRD --> glitter... all sounds similar to each other). I wouldn't mind if she's going to make independent -part II- or INSPIRE~chapter 2~. Sure it's like recycling music, but at least it's not like I keep seeing them every year.

So we can see why Days is doing better. Yes probly the single didn't do better than MW. But you have to consider 3 points:
1) like many of us has pointed out many times... MW did have an extra day for 1st week sales.
2) again, being mentioned many times.. avex did do anything they could to boost up the sales during weekends (in order to win the battle over SCS).
3) probly it's not as noticeable, but ayu seems to have a strong digital sales this time with Days. I haven't seen her dominating the choku charts like that for a long time. Days has been no. 1 on full song download for the whole week. At least this shows the general public loves the song, which is a really good sign.

Shucks what a plummet, I was hoping it would maintain its 4k index sales before the 1.75 multiplier

TITANIC 23rd December 2008 01:00 PM

wow, Stay with me release a day faster than duty and it sold behind Days/GREEN

KarenPang 23rd December 2008 01:19 PM

I'm happy with the sales , people should stop complaining about it & look in a different manner in that it's her 17th straight no.1 single since H

bluegie 23rd December 2008 01:22 PM

karen, actually it's her 19th consecutive no. 1 since Free & Easy :P.

Kagome-chan 23rd December 2008 01:59 PM

I'm fine with the sales just a bit disappointed that it could be higher. We just want the best of luck for her; a 200k+ single would be awesome since a single hasn't sold that much since BLUE BIRD, though MW is getting very close to that mark.

freedreamer 23rd December 2008 04:58 PM

Ooo...thats arnt very abd sales right? quite similar to MW..

tokyoxjapanxfan 23rd December 2008 05:17 PM

i dont think people knew stay with me was going to be released early...i think thats just the people who happened to have been in a cd store and noticed it was out early...

otherwise that wouldn't be very good o_o

but yeah im happy with d/g sales :D

waterballoon 23rd December 2008 05:33 PM

She's still #1, so the rest of the artistes sold less than 2k+... seems like she's not the only one suffering bad sales!

jbrat2219 23rd December 2008 05:37 PM

How is Days/GREEN doing in Taiwan? It was released the same day, right?

waterballoon 23rd December 2008 05:38 PM

^ Argh this reminds me why the hell is Days/GREEN not in Singapore yet!!!???

rakeru 23rd December 2008 05:51 PM

at least it's #1. that's all that matters!

How come it's on the chart...? :shakehead If this is not the real release day for kuu, I guess today's number can't really judge how well stay with me will sell. Normally kuu should be able to sell over 60K on the first week, but the album will be released a month later, so I dunno how the sales will be.

And is this because the usual 2 weeks counting starts on this week?

some people think that those sales of Stay with me are just the people who went to a promo event that Ku was holding, but I we'll know tomorrow if it's true.

xLitax 23rd December 2008 10:07 PM

Well, it's still doing ok...

I think it's next week and the week after that cause Oricon week starts on Wednesday and the 31st is on a Wednesday, the last day of the year.

bluegie 23rd December 2008 10:34 PM

yeah that's what i thought too... but then all the 24th releases were out yesterday, so it's weird. Stores in Japan don't close on the x'mas day, and usually only the ones included in the 2 week counting were released earlier..

Yes Days is STILL no.1 as of now in overall and in 4 other charts. No.1 in 5 out of 8 charts. That is quite impressive for ayu who don't normally get good download rankings.

Melon Panda 23rd December 2008 11:03 PM

I don't mind another summer single, as long as it has something like July 1st on it. :)

She's not up against anyone who has ever sold well.

And yes, the Stay With Me thing was just a special event, so those are the sales from that event. The actual CD store sales don't happen until tomorrow.
