@emiko; I know, no one can predict the future ^^;
Btw when I said that the americans would buy her dirty lyrics I didn't mean it litturally XD
I meant it in the.. meaning that they will accept them. I have heard really ridiculous lyrics on good melodies and most of times, it's the melody and playability (I just invented a new word I think) that make songs catchy for most people.
For the R&B genre, her songs are very strong on this album. Dirty desire and On And On (I really think one of the two will be released as singles) are the kind of songs you can sing with after hearing two or three times.
To cut it short, not everybody feels the same about this album, but I'm at peace now concerning her sales in the VS.

PS; I'm afraid I'm with you, Keiichi JPU.. Promotion after an album has released ^^;
Btw I don't really know about how Exodus got to the Japanese people. It did sell really well, but I wonder if actually everybody liked the songs on the album.

Anyone else going to the NY sephora event?

Andrenekoi 15th March 2009 07:23 PM

too bad for the first time, her most recent album is not my favorite one :(
still competing for the 2nd place! xD

LOVING IT!

Kingdom 15th March 2009 07:27 PM

wow, i thought the album would sale quite decently in japan, especially with that ninki we saw last week. :shrug

this album will probably flop in the states as well :scry which is a shame because it's not all that bad!

It flopping in America is solely based the people. I mean if the people don't like the sound of the album it will flop, no matter how much promotion is put into it.

Not being bias here. Same thing applies to BoA. :yes

That's why Ninki's more often than not, can't be trusted... I wonder if NEXT LEVEL will suffer a similar fate?

I guess it is doing well considering it's a US album (but just the fact that she is singing in English doesn't make her American) on the other side I guess that people were more curious about EXODUS and they simply thought that Come Back to Me doesn't really stand out from other American releases + the album isn't that good really :) so I am not shocked it's not selling great, but yeah as someone said before, considering that Hikki's sales are consistent This is the one might sell around 300k+ in the end which would be 1/3 of HEART STATION's sales.

First of all, that bolded stuff is just your opinion, there is nothing to lead you to believe that the Japanese would think that. :rolleyes And like I said before, this is an American album, by an American artist, and it's doing incredibly well in that respect. Of course she's not going to sell like EXODUS, that was 2004 (when she sold 3 million copies of her Singles Collection).

Sales in general are down, there has been next to no promotion in Japan, and she released on an incredibly odd day. These seem like much better reasoning than "the album isn't really that good".

IDEC about sales. I REALLY like this album. A lot more than I thought I would, to be honest. :weep I think she can do well with this.

FuNsTyLe 15th March 2009 10:59 PM

what does IDEC mean?

Interesting thing I heard on the radio this morning about Album Song Count. There was this artist by the name of.......hmmm....what's his name.........I know it too.................on the tip of my tongue......................*Goes to google*..............*Didn't Help*....................Hmmmm..........EUREKA!.

Bobby Valentino. That would have been bothering me all night.

So anyways, could've continued without knowing his name but as I was saying. He was going on and on in a radio interview about how his new Album has 16 songs on it. Said how much he put into the Album and how it had a nice variety with his 16 songs. He commented on how other artists like to do the minimum of just 10 songs because you have to have at least that to get paid and then they're done, but he cares about his fans and wanted to give them a full length Album and not some mini Album.

Anyway, I paraphrased some of it, but you get the picture. I just found that interesting. Didn't know about Song quota in relation to payment. Anyway, do with it what you will/must.

EDIT: NVM I found it...I'm so excited, more excited for BoA, but hopefully this is good seeing as everyone is saying it's good!

EDIT2:Okay that wasn't the file that I thought it was, someone just filled it with a bunch of multiple files of CBTM, glad I checked that. So can someone pm the link?

Umm :rolleyes Bobby Valentino can't even have a decent single, let alone a great entire album. I prefer shorter albums (usually around 12 tracks) because otherwise it just drags, and it's bogged down by poor songs. I hate fillers, and I think TITO has none of those :yes

ROFL. She is NOT an American artist. No one has forgotten that this is THE Utada Hikaru becuase she dropped her first name.
