Cover = EXACTLY same melody. Arrangement and lyrics may be different, allthough it's common to use the same lyrics. Arrangement is usually different. Melody has to be the same though. ALso, the song has to be released at a later point than the original song being covered. If not it's more natural to label them as different verisions, like in the case of dragostea din tei.

Namie's 607080 are not at all covers, the melodies barely have any resemblance at all to the originals. lol

Ayu's sweetbox songs were released before sweetbox released them and are not covers. Tsunku's version of LOVe on the other hand would be, as would his beatles cover album, no matter if the lyrics are in japanese or not.

The main reason why I'm on your ignore list is because you can't accept my opinions, they can be sometimes harsh or too honest or maybe even stupid for you, and it's not like I blame you, because that's your problem. :)
But I guess you can't read this, so it's pointless... :)


Anyway, it doesn't matter if I'll call them samples or covers, because whenever I'll hear WHAT A FEELING, I'll think how much is better that version than Irene Cara's. The definition of "cover" becomes unnecessary.

I don't really understand the argument here at all...since...it's kind of fact that sampling is one thing and covering is another...so, seems quite pointless to me.

Besides, shouldn't we know for sure if something is a cover, since usually, there is some legal stuff going on, at least with the issue of crediting, and it's right in the booklets.

If it's not there, it's not a cover.

"cover" is not something you can take like: for me, a cover is... and for me its..., it's a defined word with a defined meaning, there's no "opinion" about it, either something is a cover or it's not a cover
