Here's a shot of the girls with their crowns, from earlier today!

the show was amazing, I saw it on stream!

There was alot of energy.
They performed Fire, Can't Nobody, Lonely and I am the best. (I think I missed one)

Bommie looked more tired in Lonely. Minzy's hair looked so amazing.

Thoughts on their performance (you can still watch it at http://live.mtviggy.com/best-new-band-concert They are interviewed in the beginning, but their performance doesn't start until around 01:47:00)?

I thought they rocked it, though I was a little disappointed that they only got a little over 10 minutes (I'd assumed that, because they were the winners, they'd get a little longer). Still, it was an awesome 10 minutes.

Also, I WANT THEIR CLOTHES. Especially Bom's red and black question mark dress! :heart

Spoiler:
Fire: what a great way to open the show! I'm a relatively new 2ne1 fan (started listening to them after Hate You was released), so this is the first time I saw Fire live, and it was spectacular! The only thing that I didn't like had nothing to do with the girls; the things at the front of the stage that shot out steam (or whatever) were really noisy. I'm glad they didn't use them the entire time.

Can't Nobody Another awesome performance. I laughed when Minzy suddenly dropped to the floor to dance and the cameraman nearly lost sight of her for a second:P

Lonely Nice choice for a slower song, and they were great.

I AM THE BEST I'm sooooo glad they ended on this song! And I loved how they crowd did the same chant fans did during the song when it was performed on Korean music shows!

They did such a good job! Go 2NE1!!:heart

http://www.racialicious.com/2011/12/...door-for-2ne1/

Basically, it talks about the issues that previous Asian artists have had in breaking into the US market and how 2NE1 might have a better chance at it partly due to the accomplishments and influences of Nicki Minaj. In particular, it has to do with breaking stereotypes and redefining the roles of women of colour in the entertainment industry.

It's a great read and makes me very hopeful that 2NE1 will find success in the US even if I'm not so much of an active fan anymore. :yes

Thanks, that was an interesting read!

Damnit! I wanted to go so badly but alas I had to work. Oh well. Maybe they'll come back to NY for an actual full length concert of some sort.

I couldn't watch their performance from the stream when it was aired for the first time and I was sad about it. I'm happy I was able to see it now as a recorded live though. 2NE1 was awesome~ :luv2

twilightmoon 14th December 2011 04:46 PM

Does anyone know if they're still in NYC?

AyuHamasaki01 14th December 2011 07:05 PM

^No, they're back in Korea. :)

JackieRos 15th December 2011 02:55 AM

*sniff* that was so fast

panda♥ 15th December 2011 08:15 PM

i'm watching their performance in Times Square and i have to say that it seems really unorganized. not on their part, but on MTV's part or something. i dunno, they could've had more dancers and better sound equipment i think. the performance was good, but not as exciting as their normal performances are. D:

i was REALLY happy to see them perform in America though, even though i think it could've been a better quality performance on MTV's part.

sorry, double post. CL was interviewed by BBC. :D

2NE1 being played here in Germany on the radio since their NY performance? Really?
Didn't hear it till now.
But I'm not listening that often to radio. :laugh

AyuHamasaki01 16th December 2011 04:38 PM

I love CL's english, so cool she got interviewed by the BBC.

ayu_ready? 16th December 2011 10:27 PM

sometimes I tend to think CL would go off solo too soon. then I remember it's YG and you can go solo while still staying in the group. but if she would go solo she'd be the Korean Nicki Minaj but X100 moar epic :)

AyUta 17th December 2011 01:35 AM

^ she would do amazing if she went solo :)

ayu_ready? 17th December 2011 05:08 PM

but there would be no more 2NE1 then, like there is no BIG BANG without GD

AyUta 17th December 2011 06:38 PM

^ Now we wouldn't want that...:no.

freedreamer 18th December 2011 01:14 AM

I hope CL would go solo too :P but I think YG has age considerations before hence the CL &Minzy pair. She definitely has a long long way :)
