Lol, that's part of the reason why I love her. I can get my "classy sexy" from Ayu. Ku - I want that b *** h to **** it up!

emi♡ 3rd October 2011 05:21 PM

^^I think a lot of people feel that way. For me, I just fell in love with kuu, herself.

Her image might not be classy, but I think she is, inside. People don't usually give her credit for it, which is understandable, considering the things she's done for her image. But I think, if the industry were to show everyone's true true self, Koda would be one of the most vanilla people up there lol

It's so interesting to me though, the things that people look for in their artists. Usually when people talk about the things they dislike about koda, they're always listing some of my favorite things about her.

I love how not serious she sounds when she's speaking. She just speaks her mind and is so incredibly open and trusting with that. It's not always the best idea (especially somewhere like Japan...lol)...but...she's just herself. It's really refreshing for me.

I think she's really come to terms with her image though. For other people, it's this whole ****ty thing...for her, it's about confidence and female sexuality and expression~~

:yes:yes:yes
Yes she seems the least "scripted" - not saying Ayu is scripted, but she's very set in her image and her public demeanor. Kuu seems more like a real, everyday person. I like both of them for their own reasons and attitudes. I wouldn't change either one - I like having both as they are.

One day my mom was cleanning the house and she was singing Cutie Honey, I was like "wut? who are you and what did you do to my mom?" :roflmao And one day I was watching Dream music park, and my mom was reading some newspaper on the sofa, and she stopped and starting watching the concert with me lol Also, now I'm living in another city, and when I came back home for my holidays, she said "I miss you listening those songs from that japanese girl, I really like some of them". That made my life :P

Also I agree with you guys about her image and also about getting a career in the west. I don't know if it's because she gets a lot of demo songs from the west, but she's really got something that makes her a bit more western...

Ayu_Love 3rd October 2011 11:22 PM

Kuu is the only one who I really believe she can do well in west. I think it's because she's had that western influence from shows and music since before here career and throughout, she has a lot more understanding of it. Even from her demeanor she shows it. :yes
And I think I disagree when someone says she isn't classy (Not having a bash, though!). I think there are many instances (specially recently) were she can be very classy, and cute. But she also has that wild side. They're all combined to make one awesome lady. ;D

I got really into Kuu during her Secret era, I bought the album having only listened to Chase. I got more and more into her and bought albums and DVDs etc. but I hit the peak of my fandom with Kingdom. Now I'm becoming more and more of a casual fan.

All the people I know irl who were already into Japanese music though, don't like her. They tend to gravitate more towards like YUI and Ayu, sometimes hikki.

imo Koda was one of the few people in Asia who actually had music that could break barriers cause of it's similarity....but I know if she'd go outside Japan, they'd make her speak English, and then it would all just go downhill.

This is how it is with my friends. The ones who don't care about anything Japanese agree that Kuu is a pretty decent artist, but my friends who are into Japanese stuff don't like her at all and instead like Ayu and such. My mom likes Kuu concerts, she finds them entertaining and loves Kuu's voice. She never once complemented Ayu, when Ayu was my favorite singer and I played her stuff a lot.

Hopefully she can pass 40k next week

Kuu has enough confidence to be what she is and she's not ashamed of it. She's so... real, natural. I just find it funny to watch her concerts because of that. She has that funny girl thing going on at every concert I've watched. It gives me that feeling she's like a friend to everyone~ :heart

This. :yes

It seems to be the same for me with people who I meet who listen to Japanese music. It's always Ayu, Hikki and perfume etc. I think because kuu has quite a western styled discog and image (she does have quite a controversial image in Japan) that people who get into Japanese music for the Japanese style wouldn't really be interested in Kuu cause she has more western influence, not Japanese? (Although I think she still has one of the best JPOP styles). I did manage to get my friend into her though who previously only liked bands like morning masume and cute girls like that. XD

happiholic★ 5th October 2011 04:07 AM

^Well, Kuu is pretty versatile, more so than a lot of artists. She has songs like Lick me :heart to appeal to those who like those songs.

Minttulatte 5th October 2011 04:06 PM

I remember all that hype over Lick me back in 2009. Everyone thought it's gonna be a ****ty song, and what did we get? A cute song about licking ice cream~ 8D

Luja. 5th October 2011 05:37 PM

^ haha yeah. I still remember a friend of mine read the titles for the new single and was like "YOU HAVE TO PREORDER THIS FOR ME!!!" (she doesn't have a YesAsia account)... and then the single arrived and she was so disappointed:laugh.
