She might not be an american artist but this album was made in the US, not Japan. Its different. I'm pretty sure the people of Japan realizes that the album isn't going to be their usual Utada Hikaru album >_>

Anyways I think her sales will go up in a week or two. It had a really bad release date : ) I hope it does well! It deserves it IMO <3 And plus I dont know if this is true, but atm it hasn't been released in many stores. Jsut a rumor I saw at JPM looking for hikki's sales :D ~!

elvis810 16th March 2009 05:28 AM

FYI is the only song I like from the album(kind of a mass market material for Japan)
I think if she promotes this song in JP, sales could be much better.

CoriKaru 16th March 2009 05:43 AM

She did say when "Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence - FYI" got previewed on Music Station she got really good reactions from it so you might have something there.

Utada is an American artist. She is not promoting TITO as an 宇多田ヒカル album. Even if you watch the interviews and TV appearances she's done in Japan so far, the captions always read "Utada" in romaji.

This isn't being promoted as 宇多田ヒカル, it's a sound that is not particularly popular in Japan, and it's in a language that over 99% of the country doesn't speak. :yes So therefore, she is doing quite well in Japan, IMO.

It's like expecting Beyonce to put out an album in French or Spanish or something and expecting it to sell just as well as her other CDs.

Talking about the album, On and On is my favourite song. So perfect ;_;
And the album is really great. I hope she promotes a lot in the US, because it really deserves to be successful.

2. Me Muero
3. Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence - FYI
4. Apple And Cinnamon
5. Taking My Money Back
6. This One (Crying Like A Child)
7. Automatic Part II
8. Dirty Desire
9. Poppin'
10. On And On

Wonder what's with the scrambling of the songs....hmmm....doesnt really change anything....

"“This Is The One” Tracklist Shuffle for US?

Amazon.com has updated their listing for Utada’s “This Is The One,” unveiling a slightly altered tracklist for the US, reorganizing the tracks and bringing “Come Back To Me” to the beginning of the disc."

Here's the tracklist as it's up on Amazon:

1. Come Back To Me
2. Me Muero
3. Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence - FYI
4. Apple And Cinnamon
5. Taking My Money Back
6. This One (Crying Like A Child)
7. Automatic Part II
8. Dirty Desire
9. Poppin'
10. On And On

Sundae 16th March 2009 06:08 AM

Pretty much put all the slower songs first and then the faster, upbeat songs later. On and On had that drumming at the beginning and CBTM has that piano at the beginning so that change isn't too bad.

Melon Panda 16th March 2009 07:10 AM

I thought the old tracklist was fine, although that may just be because I don't find Come Back To Me to be as great as some of the other tracks on the album.

emi♡ 16th March 2009 07:21 AM

um...ew @ the new tracklist.

especially with On an On at the end.

I hate when American albums are organized that way - all of the slow/fast tracks in a group. :no The original track listing is better, and probably the way Utada intended it... The record company probably just reorganized it to put the recognized single first.

AyUta 16th March 2009 08:27 AM

Why did they do that? lol, not prettay </3

Anywho, I like the album, it's cool and very mainstream-ish.
&no, I'm not going to the Sephora event because it's too far away :grumpy

I like the old tracklist order better... it's so weird having On And On last!

First of all, that bolded stuff is just your opinion, there is nothing to lead you to believe that the Japanese would think that. :rolleyes And like I said before, this is an American album, by an American artist, and it's doing incredibly well in that respect. Of course she's not going to sell like EXODUS, that was 2004 (when she sold 3 million copies of her Singles Collection).

Sales in general are down, there has been next to no promotion in Japan, and she released on an incredibly odd day. These seem like much better reasoning than "the album isn't really that good".

Yeah it is my opinion :) And even if there is no promotion done, for once I think the sales are proportional to the quality of the album. And no Utada is not an American artist, she is a Japanese artist who released an American album, the name doesn't matter she is Japanese no matter what she's called.

Hachimitsu 16th March 2009 10:03 AM

I want to buy Ten and Sen, but I'm not sure where to order them. Have you ordered your copies yet?

UTADA =/= 宇多田ヒカル. I don't know why people can't understand this. Even in Japan, when she is releasing English language stuff, she is called UTADA, not 宇多田ヒカル. And no, she is not only Japanese, she is also American. Wasn't she BORN in New York City? :rolleyes

Don't you think it may have to do with the fact that this is an album in a language that 99% of the country doesn't speak, it was released on a Saturday, and there were ZERO singles released beforehand? :irked I think that makes more sense than automatically assuming people agree with your opinion.

Maemi 16th March 2009 11:22 AM

99%? I don't think so. Anyway, my personal opinion is that this album is a total crap compared to her older stuff AND Exodus. Except bad promotion, maybe people really didn't like it in Japan. I wouldn't be suprised. I'm sure there are people who love this album, but there is no need in finding silly excuses.

ayumisrael 16th March 2009 11:57 AM

hikki gets the #3 weekly this week... remioromen #1 and RADWIMPS #2.

1->2->2->2->2->1>1 - remioromen - 84,744 + 41,826 + 33,356 + 24,534 + 21,124 + 34,213 + 38,140 = 277,937
x->1->1->1->3->3>3 - RADWIMPS - 77,493 + 56,823 + 26,098 + 17,295 + 17,391 + 16,303 = 211,403
x->x->x->x->1->2>2 - Utada - 27,213 + 27,364 + 22,105= 76,682

Limited Edition, been out of print for quite some time now, otherwise I would've pre-ordered one.

Maemi 16th March 2009 12:10 PM
